Sammi (# 721) is a young, sweet 2 or 3 year old pug looking for a forever home. He loves to hang out on the back of the couch where he can see the entire room and give his foster family kisses. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys trips to the park.

Sammi is potty trained and will go outside to potty. He loves romping and playing outdoors. He would flourish in a home with a fenced yard where he can roam about and “do his business”. His current foster lives in an apt. and while Sammi is coping with his current situation, it isn’t ideal. Sammi doesn’t like to go potty on a leash and so he will hold it for long periods of time waiting for a trip to the dog park where he can have freedom before relieving himself. Sammi is a small pug with a gentle disposition.

Adopted - December, 2009

Ellie Mae (# 747) is an adorable fawn girl, estimated to be 6-8 years of age. Despite her having been given up to a shelter and going through a couple of foster homes, she never gave up her loving and calm demeanor! Ellie came into her last foster home as if she’d lived there and knew all 7 of her foster siblings her whole life! She is a quiet girl with the gentlest personality her foster family has ever seen. She is wonderful with children and will let them dress her and play with her. She loves to be held and touched as much as possible and will fall asleep when being cuddled.

Adopted - December, 2009

Pete (# 736) is a 4 year old potty trained male that has not had any accidents in his foster family’s home. He is also crate trained and has no problem going in it when the family leaves to go someplace. He’ll actually go in it on his own when they say it is time to get in his kennel and doesn’t ever have to be forced in.

Pete loves being held like a baby and having his belly rubbed. They call him their little piglet because he snorts and loves soft things. He wants to be in your lap or at least by your side so his forever home must want a lap dog. He is good with the cat in the home and the other animals. He is also good with people and children. He enjoys sleeping at your head. He loves the dog park!

Adopted - December, 2009

Betsy (# 599) is approximately 4 years old and currently being treated for Demodex. Betsy has much hair loss on her underside and there is a chance that it will not grow back. She will need a special grain free diet and supplements to help keep her coat and skin in good condition. Betsy loves to play chase as well as tug of war with other dogs or humans! She always has a smile for you and is always happy to see you. She is just under 15 lbs and should remain a little lean so that she does not have breathing problems later. Under extensive play and excitement, Betsy will have a bit of labored breathing. Once she calms down she is ready to go again! Betsy is completely house broken and crate trained. She does not get on the furniture unless you allow her to do so. A very sweet well mannered girl!

Adopted - December, 2009

Maddie (# 871) is a very sweet pug that loves all people and adores her foster canine brothers and sisters. Maddie, who is approximately 1.5 years old, is a typical young pug that loves to play – especially chasing after a ball and chew toys. Since she does love to play so much, she would be perfect in a home with kids and/or other dogs that want to play. Maddie has been in a few different homes in her short life and is looking for some stability.

Adopted - December, 2009

Molly (# 695) came to KPR after her beloved owner became ill and was physically unable to care for her. Molly, who has been with her owner since she was a puppy, is now 11.5 years old. She is in good health, but has touch of blindness in her right eye and is hard of hearing, which is common for her age. Molly's foster home says that she is active - she loves to go on walks and is also content to relax on the couch. Molly loves to snuggle and give kisses and gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats.

Adopted - December, 2009

Hank (# 854) is approximately 2-3 years old and is housebroken and crate trained. He does have seasonal allergies, and dry eye, which requires daily drops, but other than that, he is happy and healthy. When Hank came to KPR, he was missing a lot of fur from the itching, but with a good diet and a trip to the vet, the allergies are under control and his coat has completely filled back in, and it is beautiful - shiny and gorgeous! His foster mom says he is an absolute doll - he loves to play, but he also loves to cuddle. His favorite thing is a nap with his foster mom, or to sleep in the bed with her. But at night, he does like to be in his crate. Hank gets along well with the other foster dogs, and has completely ignored the cat. As much as Hank likes the other foster dogs, he absolutely loves kids.

Adopted - December, 2009

Stormy (# 867) is an adorable, loving little cuddle Pug who is estimated to be 4-5 years old. Stormy was pregnant when rescued from a shelter by a good Samaritan. She is so sweet and has the cutest underbite when her teeth show. Stormy is playful, good with children and ok with cats. She had a prior incident with another dog at the breeder’s home quite some time ago, but has not exhibited any aggression in the good Samaritan’s home or in her current foster home. Stormy is housebroken and will walk on a leash. She likes stuffed toys and enjoys playing, but is quick to snuggle right up with you when you sit down. Stormy is so sweet and certainly deserves to live like a Queen in a pug loving home.

Adopted - December, 2009

Awww....Sookie (# 731) is a 5-6 year old sweetheart! She will smack your leg with her front paws if you don’t give her attention when she wants it. She is well socialized and gets along great with dogs, cats, and children. She is housebroken and has not had any accidents in her foster home. She seems to be crate trained too.

Adopted - December, 2009

Meet Homer (# 704), a delightful 3 year old Pug. The poor little guy had a bladder stone that lodged in his urethra. He underwent an emergency Scrotal Urethrostomy to remove the stone. His only other option was to be Euthanized. KPR could not let this happen to such a young, vital Pug! This surgery, while successful, had to be performed by a Specialist because it is a rare medical condition.

Homer is very affectionate, vivacious, and well behaved. He is housetrained and gets along with the two other pugs in the foster home. Homer loves to ride in the car, greet visitors, and play with toys. If he is not on his leash, he is likely to bolt, but with a little time his fosters are confident he will learn the yard boundaries. He is a good eater and understands the pecking order at meal times. He weighs about 18 pounds and is cute as can be with some great markings on his fur (just check out the photo!).  It is recommended that he not be placed in a home with cats. It is our understanding that he is making life miserable for the cat in his foster home. He likes to hassle the 18 year old kitty and there have been some knock down drag out fights. Although Homer is allowed to sleep in the human bed, he often prefers to sleep on the floor at the base of the bed instead. The dogs in the home are never crated and so the foster family has no idea how he would take to a crate.

Morgan's Pals for Pugs

Tracy Wilson
Kristen Amagrande

My name is Morgan (# 598) and I'm a little boy. If you want a playful puppy then I am the pug for you! I have a lot of energy because I am just now turning 1 year old. I walk really well on a leash and love to chew on toys and bones. I take ½ of an inexpensive pill twice a day for seizures. The medicine is only $6 for a 30 day supply. It’s no big deal and I take my medicine like any good boy would. I haven’t had any seizures since I’ve been in my foster home. I also haven't had any accidents for a long time because my foster parents have taught me proper potty habits.

I am a lot of fun and enjoy wrestling with my foster brothers and sisters, but then I also like to cuddle and snuggle up with my foster parents. At night, I sleep in their bed. They have been very good to me. They've even taught me proper potty habits so that my new family won't have to and can spend more time just playing with me and loving me. I am a great dog and I can't wait until I can be part of your family. My foster mom says that my photo doesn’t do me justice and doesn’t show just how adorable I am.

Adopted - November, 2009

Donut (# 733) loves everyone and everyone loves him. He is just the sweetest thing and has moved into his foster’s home perfectly. Donut is an adaptable 2 year old pug mix. His foster thinks he is mixed with pug/ boston terrier /boxer / bulldog…uhm…who knows. What we do know is that he is one unique looking pug mix. He is potty trained and crate trained. He also walks good on a leash and gets along great with other dogs. He comes to a whistle, but is only just beginning to learn his name. He also doesn’t know any basic training commands yet.

His foster family describes his personality as all about love and getting along with everyone…except if you’re a cat. He hasn’t gotten the idea of a cat yet, but with time he might. He loves curling up with the young child in the home and falling asleep. He is great with children.

Adopted - November, 2009

Look at me! Buddy (# 862) is a 3-4 year old male pug that loves attention. This sweet boy is quick to form attachments and bond with the people he meets. Buddy craves attention so much that if he isn’t getting any from his foster family, he will just pet himself! Strange as it seems, his foster mom says it’s the cutest and most unusual thing she has ever seen - he will take his back paw and gently rub his own head.

Buddy is doing well with his potty training and is crate trained. This sweet pug is laid back and gets along with other dogs. Taking Buddy for walks is very easy since he doesn't pull or get under foot, but instead walks beside you and when you stop he "heels" and steps behind you. Buddy currently sleeps in bed with his foster mom, but is hoping for a space in your home. Do you have room for Buddy in your life?

Adopted - November, 2009

Roxy (# 730) is just a little over 1 year old.  She's a young, playful pug that enjoys toys and has an affinity for nyla bones. The cutest noises come out of her mouth while she is dragging a nyla bone around and chewing on it. She is still a curious, and sometimes she likes to bark at the cats and doesn’t understand why they won’t play with her and all of her toys. She gets along great with other dogs and loves people. She would be excellent with children. Sometimes she can be a little timid when meeting new people, but it doesn’t take her long before she is in your lap, on your chest, trying to sit on your neck, and just bouncing all around. She is small weighing just over 13 pounds. She does have some bare spots on her fur that is healing and is now taking a benedryl a day for allergies. She is crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night, but is an early riser and will be ready to go the moment you wake up. While she never has any accidents in her crate, she does need reinforcement on proper potty habits.

Adopted - October, 2009

Meet Rocket the Pug (# 717), the 6 month old puppy that came to KPR from a shelter in Kentucky. Rocket is adorable and full of fun and energy. You certainly don’t need the TV on when he is around because you can’t help but watch him jump around and play with every toy in sight! He loves all kinds of stuffed toys as well as Pork Chomps and Nylabones to chew on. Rocket is completely housebroken and can sit on command for a treat. He is currently dealing with Demodex, which has affected his head, legs and chest. Rocket has been through two rounds of treatment with Promaris and his hair is growing in nicely. Rocket is a loving little boy who needs to be in a family that can appreciate all he has to offer. He definitely loves people and other dogs.

Adopted - October, 2009

Jacob (# 825) and Bella (# 826) are 5 months old and are puppy mill dogs that came to KPR two months ago with respiratory infections and pneumonia. Not only were they ill, but they also had dysplasia in both their hips and knees. Since being in foster care, they have gained weight and are doing better in all aspects.

Jacob is now up to 10 pounds and is very healthy and strong. His dysplasia in his hips is not as noticeable and the vet says his ligaments and muscle development are good. Jacob is crate trained and is doing very well at house training. He sleeps in the bed with his foster family and when he is tired he loves to cuddle. If you sit down anywhere, he wants to be on your lap. He is very bonded with his sister, Bella. Jacob was born on January 24, 2009 and will be ready for adoption after he is neutered on July 25th.

Bella was the runt of the litter and weighs in at 6 pounds. She is doing very well health wise but her hip dysplasia is very noticeable. Bella runs and plays with Jacob so it doesn't seem to bother her. She is the lover of the two. Every time you sit down, Bella wants to be on your lap cuddling. Bella is also crate trained and is doing well with regards to her house training. She sleeps in bed with her foster family and is very bonded with her brother Jacob. Bella was also born on January 24, 2009 and will be ready for her new home after she is spayed on July 25th.

Adopted - October, 2009

Introducing Miley (# 807), an 18-pound healthy, sweet, energetic female pug who will turn 2 on July 20, 2009. Miley is housebroken and crate trained. She gets along great with other dogs and even tries to get the foster home's cats to play with her. Miley walks great on a leash, loves to run and chase things and is a happy, fun little girl. She knows how to sit and would probably learn more tricks easily since she is so smart. Since Miley is a young pug, her foster mom has been giving her regular exercise, walking her up to three times a day. Miley would love a home that has another dog around her age or older kids that she could play with. But, Miley is not picky and would even love a home where she's the only dog and no kids. Due to her age and her tendency to 'play bite', we would not recommend a home with small children. Overall, Miley would be a great addition to any family with older children or even no children. Her foster mom calls her the perfect dog.

Adopted - October, 2009

Meet Poptart (# 856), a 3 year old black male pug. We find it hard to believe, but Poptart sat in a shelter for over a month before coming to KPR. This little boy is very sweet and loves to be around everyone, including kids and dogs. Poptart is a well-mannered boy – he does not chase cats or bark at other dogs when out on walks. His foster family hasn’t heard him bark yet, but do say he will cry when he’s gated off from them. Poptart is housebroken as long as he’s kept on a regular schedule. He loves to play with chew toys and is not toy aggressive. His foster family says he will patiently wait for a toy if another dog is playing with it.

Miss Pepper (# 841) or Peppercorn, as she is sometimes called, is a little pug with a big heart of gold. Her age is unknown, but is guessed to be between 6 and 8 years old. Sweet little Pepper was surrendered to KPR with untreated diabetes. As a result she developed cataracts, which is a common problem when diabetes is left untreated in dogs. The cataracts robbed her of her sight plunging her into total darkness.

While we can only imagine how scary it was for her to be put in a new place without her sight, Miss Pepper adapted remarkably well in her new foster home. Peppercorn, or Chili Pepper as she is also affectionately called (she has many nicknames!), was navigating around her foster home within a week. With supervision she was able to enjoy strolls around the yard. Through twice daily insulin injections, Pepper slowly regained her health. Because the loss of her sight was recent, she was taken to an eye specialist and deemed a candidate for cataract removal. It was an expensive surgery with no guarantees, but the chance to provide this tenacious little pug with sight was the only priority. Surgery day arrived and so did the phone call, “Pepper did wonderfully well” AND she was actually standing in her kennel WATCHING people! To see her trot around the yard the next day with no assistance made her foster mom giddy. It will be a couple of weeks of wearing the plastic collar to protect her eyes but already Pepper is running around, standing taller, and (according to her foster mom) grinning from ear to ear!

Adopted - October, 2009

Clay (# 726) is a curious and energetic puppy. He is only 9 months old, but already incredibly spoiled. He simply cannot get enough love and demands that you pay him attention. His good looks, charming smile (he does smile), and silly puppy antics will melt your heart...even as he is barking at your cat and then tripping over himself to run away when the cat challenges him back.

Clay loves toys and is good about sharing them with people and pets. He also enjoys a good game of tug of war and likes to chase his tail. This bouncing baby boy is ready to explore the world. Are you ready for an adventure?

Remember Clay is a high energy puppy and he is going to need someone willing to work with him on developing good manners, learning proper social skills, and reinforcing potty training habits.

Adopted - October, 2009

Toby (# 720) is a 2 1/2 year old boy who deserves a final forever home. After his original owner passed away he was moved to several different homes before making his way to KPR.

Toby may look like a pug, but he has some beagle in his blood too. His new owners will need to understand that this boy is clever and the beagle in him needs a secure yard. This smart puggle knows his “sit”, “stay”, and “down” commands very well. He'll do this even without a treat in your hand, but the treat does help. He walks like a dream on a leash and will sit at corner crossings if you ask. Toby’s sweet, playful nature also means that he enjoys playing with children of all ages, other dogs, stuffed animals, toys, and bones. He would do best in a home with structure and a set schedule. His previous owner had issues with him being out of control, but he has not been allowed to get to this point in his foster home. His foster takes charge and Toby follows the lead.

His foster mom describes Toby as the “sweetest dog (she) has ever had the pleasure to meet”. Her biggest wish for Toby is that his forever home has children because he sits with her 6 yr old daughter for hours at a time playing and doing whatever she wants him to do. He would also be great in a home with other animals because he loves to romp and play with the other pets in the home.

Adopted - October, 2009

Jake (# 803) has blossomed since coming into foster care.  He has lost his shyness and loves being a part of a family. He is now at his ideal weight of 22lbs and is completely housetrained and crate trained. Jake will do whatever is asked of him and he absolutely adores being petted and played with. He walks well on a leash, likes to ride in the car and pretty much just goes with the flow.  Jake is absolutely terrific with kids and loves to be wherever the people are. He also enjoys playing with his foster siblings and completely ignores the cats. Wherever he falls asleep, which could be anywhere as he isn't picky, he has the cutest little snore. Jake is a typical happy, healthy pug.

Adopted - September, 2009

Rogue (# 674) is a wonderful little girl who is full of happiness and joy. Rogue is 1.5 years old who loves being in the middle of attention and being with her people. She does wonderfully with other dogs and cats, loves being outside and is playful. Rogue loves to sleep with her ‘blankie’. Her foster mom simply adores her!

Adopted - September, 2009

Georgie (# 849) is approximately 10 months old and was picked up by animal control after he was found wandering the streets of Fort Wayne. We can't imagine why anyone would let this little sweetheart go! He is an absolute doll who is housebroken, knows sit and stay, loves other dogs, kids, and cats. Georgie also loves belly rubs, adores being held and loved on, and loves to run around the yard. His foster mom is working on his leash skills since we don’t think he’s ever seen one before. He has puppy energy and loves to play - he loves to play with other dogs, stuffed animals and nylabones. If his new family has kids, they probably should have kids that are old enough to take his puppy energy, as he will jump on you to get your attention. Georgie is a small pug, weighing only about 16 pounds. He is really a doll, and we can't imagine why anyone would ever let him go!

Adopted - September, 2009

Milton (# 642) is a nice looking gentleman pug, weighing in at 22 pounds that comes to KPR from a local shelter. The vet estimates Milton to be about 6 years old. Milton is athletic and playful and is quirky when it comes to eating. He really prefers to eat his dog food alone and enjoys the occasional Beggin Strip. Milton likes to sleep in his foster mom's bed but usually ends up sleeping on the floor before the night is over. His foster home is reinforcing housebreaking during his transition period and indicates Milton does not use the doggie door like the other pugs in the house, but prefers to take care of his business in the front yard. Milton does love stuffed toys and is a chewer, so toys of that nature are a must. He is a non-aggressive type of guy that likes to play with his foster pug sisters and nap on his foster mom's lap. While Milton exhibits some of the pug-stubbornness that is typical for the breed, he is a very sweet boy that just wants to be somebody's shadow.

Adopted - September, 2009

Sam (aka Buford) (# 713) is a young pug at only 18 months old. With all his puppy energy it is no wonder that he will run like the wind when given the chance and so his foster mom thinks it best he find a forever home with a fenced yard to keep him secure while he plays.

Sam came to KPR when his owner dropped him at a kill shelter. His foster mom is trying to fatten him up, but he is just so active, although he enjoys sitting on the back of the couch or the arm of the recliner sometimes too.

Sam is a very sweet boy that gets along great with the other dogs in the home. The cats are just ignored. He also gets along great with children, playing gently with the toddlers in his presence. Sam is loving puggie life in his new home with his new puggie sister.

Adopted - September, 2009

Oscar (# 592) may not dance well, but he can sure sing! Say his name the right way and he’ll belt out a tune. This well behaved pug happily complies with several commands, such as coming to you when his name is called, sitting when asked to “sit”, going “night night” in his kennel when it’s time for bed, etc. His foster mom wishes the other pugs in the home were this well mannered. Oscar just goes with the flow whether waiting patiently for a bath, enjoying a leisurely stroll around the park, or taking in the sights and sounds during a road trip. He’s a mellow fellow just looking for love and attention.

No one is certain of Oscar’s age, but it is believed that he is around 7 to 8 years old.   He came to KPR with a skin condition that is currently being treated with medicated shampoo.  Oscar is partially paralyzed in the back and as a result it causes an unusual swagger.  He still walks on all fours and does everything the other pugs do, even running, but he's just a little bit slower.  Oscar eagerly races to you with his tail wagging when you say “treat”, he loves afternoon walks, and he goes outside to potty.  He collects toys for his bed and snuggles with them more than he plays with them.

Oscar is low key and low maintenance.  He simply loves everyone and everything whether it is a human, a dog, or a cat. This gentle boy is content to snore on the floor in his bed or snuggle up beside you and watch TV. He’s just a great companion and so incredibly easy to love.

Adopted - September, 2009

Vinny (# 818) is a 3-year old fawn male pug, weighing 22lbs. Vinny is a real snuggler once he gets to know you. He is a little timid at first, but since he adores being loved on, he can't hold out for long. Vinny is housebroken and crate trained. His foster family is working on his leash training. Vinnie loves treats and will take them gently from your hand. He gets along wonderfully with kids, dogs, and cats. Vinny loves to play with the other dogs in the home and sometimes barks at them to get their attention to play. He completely ignores the cats. Vinny is not food or bone aggressive and loves to play with soft, plush, toys. He is so adorable when he looks at you because his tongue sticks out just a little from his mouth. Vinny would make a wonderful pet for someone who is looking for a playful but laid back little guy.

Jess (# 823) was found wandering the streets of Fort Wayne, IN and was lucky enough to be picked up by a volunteer of the local animal shelter. Poor Jess was never claimed, so he came to KPR to look for a new home. Jess is about 8 years old and is a wonderful guy – very loving, gets along well with dogs and cats, loves to go for walks and is housebroken. He adores his foster mom and follows her from room to room. Jess is bit overweight, so his foster mom is working on getting him to a healthy weight. He has the most beautiful coat and his face is absolutely adorable.

Tootsie loves the outdoors so much that sometimes she stays outside until she knows its mealtime and Blackie loves to give hugs and kisses when you pick him up. These two love to cuddle with themselves and the other dogs in the house. They have been around kids and cats and have done well. Their foster mom reports that they are doing very well in their leash training and housebreaking.

Annabelle's Pals for Pugs

Lyna Pena

Annabelle (# 597) is a sweet & lovable 11 year old pug.

She's potty trained if you give her enough time to do her business. She's poky and easily distracted by anything that might be going on around the neighborhood, such as dogs barking, cars going by, etc. All of the outdoor distractions and her seeming dislike of grass keep her from going to potty sometimes. This has caused some accidents and so you must be patient with her.

Annabelle enjoys food and will eat anything. She also loves any kind of treat. While she is fairly mobile and can manage 3 steps down the back porch to get to the yard, she hasn’t ever tried to make it upstairs in the home. Annabelle is content to just chill on her bed. She will follow her foster mom from room to room, but lies down and gets comfy wherever possible. She doesn’t seem to be in pain from the arthritis, but simply stiff. Overall she is a happy pug that is content to just receive some love and attention.

As you can see from the photo Annabelle doesn’t have any eyes because they had to be surgically removed. While Annabelle would be probably be considered a “special needs” pug by most people, she really only needs the same things that all other pugs need, which is food, affection, and a cozy bed that she can call her own.

Sassy's Pals for Pugs

Kayne Brown

Hi, my name is Sassy (# 593) and though I am not feeling so well right now, my foster parents say I am as sweet as any Pug can be. I love to follow you everywhere you go and I absolutely must get in your lap when you sit down. I am rather partial to men, but I'll love anyone if you let me. I like all these little beds my foster home has all around the floors. I like to lay on them and have my guy in eye shot whenever I'm not in a lap, or if no one is home. I also like my crate where I eat and prefer to take my treats. Not to brag, but I'm so good I never have to be put in it when the foster parents leave, and I've just got to sleep in bed with you or I'll cry and howl like a tiny toy fire truck, so I don't use my crate at night. I use potty pads right now because my feet hurt too badly to go outside. I always make sure to use the pad because I am a good girl. I have a skin condition that is not contagious and could be cleared up by June now that I am in the loving care of KPR. My feet became extremely infected according to my new vet because I went untreated too long. After a week of antibiotics I am already feeling well enough to play for a few minutes multiple times a day and show these people how fun and silly I can be.

Otis (# 716) is a beautiful black pug who is believed to be somewhere around 1 year old. . He's very affectionate, very playful, and very energetic. He is 150% puppy in his actions and attitude. He was a little intimidated by his 5 foster brothers at first, but that didn't last long. When they aren't playing, he's snuggled up napping with them. He's 99% house broken. Only one inside accident in a week. He loves eating and is not food aggressive. His foster mom believes he would jump to the moon for a treat. Treats REALLY excite him! He's crate trained, but prefers to sleep in the human bed. Right before bedtime, Otis makes several trips through the house gathering up toys to take to bed. He loves stuffed animals and Nylabones. He is an absolute doll and a total ham for the camera! He's active and loves to run and play. He also loves to shower you with kisses.

Bambi's Pals for Pugs

Jenni Webb Reynolds

Bambi (# 703) loves to nap. She doesn’t require a lot of time or attention because she is perfectly content to just curl up in a comfy place and catch some zzz’s. Her foster parents tell us that she is very low key and very low maintenance.

This senior pug is approximately 12 years old. She is a KPR pug because her owner became seriously ill and has been hospitalized for the past few months. The owner’s family is focusing their time on their elderly loved one and so the decision was made to provide Bambi with another chance at love and companionship with KPR. This little girl is sad about her owner and needs some love and understanding.

Bambi pays no attention to the dogs and cats in her foster home. She sleeps on the bathroom rug (her choice, not her fosters). She drinks a LOT of water and is a pretty finicky eater, but otherwise she is no problem. The foster parents actually mix in a little Campbell’s soup with her hard food to get her to eat. Apparently she was fed soft food because when they first opened the can of soup, she went wild! They are surprised that she isn’t a big eater since most pugs love to eat.

She is toilet trained and will go when put outside along with the rest of the gang. She wants to do her business and then come right back in and sleep! She has arthritis in her back legs and totters about, but this doesn’t seem to cause her any pain. She does just fine climbing the front steps to get into the house.

This little girl seems to take best to women (her owner that became ill was female). Apparently she really enjoys being talked to and loves attention, but she is really content whether getting attention or being left alone. She is not demanding at all.

Madeline Claire (# 708) was a puppy mill dog that has had "several" litters of puppies and isn't even three years old. She had no name when KPR rescued her. Her foster Mom felt she was such a beautiful little girl, she needed a beautiful name to go with her new life. She will be three in December. She is small, weighing in at 15 pounds. Her toes are splayed from her years in a wire bottomed cage. She has a weakness in her hips/hind legs that she is being treated for. The vet feels that this is congential but we are hoping she responds well to her medication. She will be spayed and have her dental soon and will be ready to go to her forever home.

Because of her hip/legs she will need to go to a home with carpet and with as few stairs as possible. She doesn't have any trouble going up and down the front steps (3 steps), but as she gets older, she will probably have difficulty doing this. She doesn't let her disability slow her down. She keeps right up with the other dogs in the home.

Maddie gets along great with her foster brother and sister. She "goes with the flow" and doesn't "rock the boat". She loves to be with you and will be content laying at your feet. She sleeps well in her crate at night, but would love sleeping with you. She is catching on quickly to potty training and goes outside with the others in her foster home when they go.

Patience (# 508) and Ming (aka Toe Jam) (# 509) are the true meaning of bonded pugs! They were surrendered to KPR when their owner encountered some problems and could no longer care for them. These girls are as sweet and funny as pugs get! Patience is a 2 year old chunky Diva ,while Toe Jam is a 5 year old whopping 13 pounds and the ruler of the roost. The girls love to sleep together in their crate at night, and share everything ...except belly rubbins! Both girls are housebroken, and very gentle. When they were surrendered, both girls had a bad infestation of hook and whip worms, but they have been treated and given a clean bill of health by the vet.

You wish that Puggy (# 533) could talk and tell you his story. We are uncertain about his age. He is an adult pug, but not yet a senior. You have to wonder what life was like for this little guy before coming to KPR. He was found wandering around a busy highway one afternoon. It appears that he must have broken a front leg in his past since it is crooked and causes him to walk with a limp. It doesn't slow him down any, it just adds to his personality.

He is now living in foster care with other dogs, cats, kittens, and kids. They tell us that he is just wonderful and that anyone would be lucky to have this pug because he gets along with everyone in the family and doesn't pay any attention to the cats or kittens. He is also good with toddlers and even sleeps at the foot of their grandson's bed. They tell us that he is so well-behaved that they do not crate him at all and that he is housebroken already. Enough good things cannot be said about this little guy.

Adopted - August, 2009

Spike (# 712) is such a good boy! This well behaved, 6 year old pug loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home.  He weighs 27 lbs. When he plays, he plays hard. Once exhausted and ready to crash Spike goes to the crate, opens the door with his nose, crawls inside, and goes to sleep. He enjoys sleeping in his crate and it is so adorable the way his tongue hangs out of the side of his mouth when he is sleeping.

Spike is full of personality and will even do a little dance for his treats. He rides great in a car. He totally ignores cats and is good with small children. He loves to be brushed. He is housebroken. It is obvious that this little pug led a great life and was always well cared for…unfortunately his owner fell on hard times and could no longer afford to keep him.

Petunia
(# 585) is a precious 7-month old cutie pie that came to KPR with a severe case of Demodex, an Upper Respiratory Infection and a yeast Infection on her skin. Upon arriving at her foster home, Petunia and her sister Penelope, were tired, sick and had no energy whatsoever. Now, since receiving quality medical attention and lots of good old fashioned TLC, she is a completely different little girl! Petunia is full of spunk, loves to play and likes to look for trouble. In other words, she is a typical puppy. She loves toys, Nylabones and to play with her sister. Less timid then her sister, Petunia loves to get close to you and give you lots of kisses. This darling, happy puppy deserves the stable love of a forever home.

Penelope (# 584) is a delightful 7-month old puppy that came into KPR with a severe case of Demodex, an Upper Respiratory Infection and a yeast infection on her skin. In the last month, this little darling has evolved from a lethargic sick little lump of a pug to a wonderfully active, happy and typical Pug puppy! She loves attention and is still a bit timid with people, but once you hold her, she will melt into you. Petunia adores toys, Nylabones and is a typical puppy that gets into anything left near her when she gets bored. Treats are still a foreign concept to her as sweet Petunia was never pampered in this way before coming to KPR. She has a slight amount of entroprian on one eye that will need to be watched as she physically develops though at this time it does not require surgery.

Bo (# 842) and Luke (# 843) are a bonded pair that will need to go to the same forever home. This duo has been together for the past 8 years and make it a point to be around each other. They will even groom one another and they sleep together in the same bed. Their owner took exceptionally good care of them, but sadly she recently passed away.

These two pugs are both great with other dogs. They just ignore cats. They are good with kids and very gentle. Their foster family says that they will follow you around all day and will even paw at you for attention.

Bo is 11, and he lost one eye in April. He has some arthritis, and is on pain meds to help him, but he gets around just fine. He also needs eye drops once a day. Luke is 10, and is in great shape. He has meds to help with allergies and breathing problems as needed. They do very well on a leash, but they can't walk very far without heavy breathing (like most pugs). Both are house-broken as long as they are reminded regularly. The foster family is also working on training them to use a doggy door. No one is sure if they are crate trained, but their foster parents tell us that they have no interest in the crates sitting in their home.

Adopted - August, 2009

Meet Bashjo (# 700) and Comet (# 701). Two sweet and playful pugs that need to be adopted together.

Bashjo is the fawn one and since it is a funny name his foster has been calling him "Bash". He is around 3 years old. The black pug is Comet and he is thought to be around 4 years old. Both pugs are up to date on all of their shots and both are neutered. They have a room all to themselves in their foster parents house. Although at night they get to sleep in bed with their foster and her other 2 dogs. Everyone gets along fine (they even play nice with the golden retriever) and she said Bash & Comet are quite cuddly and snuggly. They sleep all through the night.

Adopted - August, 2009

Nitro (# 839) is a 2 year old Pug / Boston Terrier mix ("bug"). Like most 2 year olds, Nitro has lots of energy that he likes to burn off playing. Nitro is housebroken and is crate trained. He loves playing soccer with kids and gets along just fine with other dogs. Nitro leaves the cats alone unless they run and then he'll chase them. With proper training, Nitro will learn not to chase his feline friends.

Adopted - August, 2009

Cedric (# 836) is your typical, happy go lucky pug that loves all people and follows his foster mom everywhere! He is 4 years old, likes other cats and dogs and has never met a stranger. This laid back boy would love to sleep in bed with you, keeping you warm and comfy. His foster home has also been training him to sleep in his own space at night as well. Cedric is housebroken and super cute! Under vet advisement, he is only eating hard food. He is not overweight, but has lots of rolls from his head to his shoulders and his tongue sticks out about an inch, which gives him an endearing quality.

Adopted - August, 2009

Misty's Pals for Pugs!

Brent Black Webb

Misty (# 802) came to KPR from a puppy mill and is estimated to be between 4 & 5 years old. Misty gets along wonderfully with kids of all ages, cats and other dogs.

Misty came from the same puppy mill as Jake and is a tiny girl. She weighed 13 pounds when she came in and, despite her never ending appetite, she doesn't weigh much more than that currently. Misty came to KPR with one eye. We’re not sure why but it definitely doesn't stop or slow her from doing whatever she wants! After she got her teeth cleaned, she came back a few teeth light, which makes her tongue hang out most of the time. This just adds to her beauty and charm. Misty is extremely affectionate and loves to be near other people or dogs whenever possible. She had trouble with housebreaking initially due to the severe kidney/bladder infection and she had when she came to us. After a month of antibiotics and other medications it has finally cleared up and she is doing remarkably better with it.

Adopted - August, 2009

Henry (# 429), 7 years old, is a big, good natured boy. He is house trained and likes to play with stuffed toys. He actually likes to take the toys outside a pile them in a pyramid in the backyard. Henry is a very smart boy that has the softest fur. He likes to take his naps on the back of a recliner. Henry is a good watch dog and he gets along well with other dogs. He would make someone a great pal/companion as he is affectionate and caring, but will give you space when you need it.

Adopted - August, 2009

Randi (# 805) is a very laid back little girl that is so sweet and loving. She is 4-5 years old and gets along great with other dogs. Randi loves to sleep in bed with her 16-year-old human foster sister and is crated during the day when nobody is home. She has done well with her house training when kept on a schedule. Randi loves everyone and wants to be with you at all times. Her foster mom cannot say enough good things about her.

Adopted - August, 2009

Bug (# 682) found his way to KPR after a new baby entered the picture. This 5 year old boy has done great in his foster home, getting along well with other dogs and kids. Bug is housebroken and sleeps in bed with his foster parents with no problems. He loves to lounge in high places, whether its on the back of the couch or the kitchen table if a chair is left out. Bug is truly a wonderful dog.

Ollie's Pals for Pugs

Natalia Encabo Campos
Nicole Debrango

Oliver (# 685) is a loving 6 year old pug that was picked up by a good Samaritan when they found him wandering a lonely country road. This happy boy came to the rescue with just one eye, but that doesn't slow him down, he manages to get around just fine. Oliver, or Ollie, recently visited the vet and was brought current on all shots and he also got his teeth cleaned. He is housebroken and loves kids and other animals. Walks, treats and naps in your lap are a few of Oliver's favorite things.

Adopted - August, 2009

Sophie (# 596) truly deserves to find her forever home. This small 2 year old, 12 pound girl has had her fair share of bad luck.. As a puppy she was attacked by a large dog and lost one of her eyes in the fight. Thanks to her foster dad the pain and surgeries are now over and this little girl is finally acting like a healthy, happy pug.

Sophie loves dogs and gets along great with the other pug in the home where she is currently staying. There is also a cat living in the house, but she just ignores it and doesn’t even care when it rubs up against her.

Human companionship is something that Sophie craves and she just wants to lie in your lap or lay quietly on the floor. Sophie enjoys riding in a car or going on a short walk. She doesn’t seem to understand what dog toys are all about and is just now being introduced to basic commands. She has already learned to “sit”. She is also learning to potty outside. She is crate trained and while she has had a few accidents in her foster home, she has not had any accidents in her crate. She sleeps soundly all through the night in her crate or on the bed.

Adopted - July, 2009

Pixie (# 709) is a tiny bundle of pug love that will soon be 5 years old (born September 2004). She is probably a "bug". While her previous owners said she is a full blooded pug and have papers on her, we are listing her as a mix. It is possible she has boston terrier somewhere along her blood line because she has a very small and slender build with longer legs and white markings on her black fur. She is absolutely adorable and so small and dainty.

Pixie gets along well with both her alpha foster brother and her foster mom’s “grand-dog” but she is a little lady, and she doesn’t like to rough house with them. Pixie is improving in her potty habits and has no accidents in the crate while her foster mom is at work. Sometimes Pixie chooses to sleep on the couch but even when she does, she comes to check on her foster mom several times during the night. She loves her chew toy and is a very happy little dog who likes to follow her human around the house and sit as close to her as possible while her human reads or watches TV. Pixie is on a non-prescription antihistamine for allergies and a liver medication. She is also on a prescription food. Her foster mom thinks Pixie’s oversized tongue makes her even more adorable, but because she cannot use it normally, she needs a bit of Vitamin E oil put on her nose to keep it moist.

Adopted - July, 2009

Meet Jake (# 609), a 5 year old pug that loves to lounge on as many pillows as he can. Jake is housebroken and is a true lap dog. He is very playful and loves his squeaky toys. Jake gets along great with his foster canine friends and does not mind cats. He is a loveable, cuddly boy that melts his foster mom's heart every time he looks at her and cocks his head.

Adopted - July, 2009

Teddy (# 692) is a happy and healthy 2 year old pug that was born with cataracts. He came to KPR by the way of a small all-breed rescue in Kokomo, IN. A breeder who couldn't use him for breeding due to his cataract gene, left Teddy at the Kokomo Humane Society. The small all-breed rescue took him out of the shelter but was having difficulty in adopting him. That's where KPR stepped in. Thanks to KPR, Teddy will get the much needed cataract surgery to correct his defect. Teddy's foster mom says he enjoys playing tug-a-war with his foster pug friends as well as playing with his plush toys. He looks forward to his walk every morning and sleeps peacefully in bed with his foster parents and foster pug friends. Like any pug, Teddy follows his foster mom from room to room and wants to lie in her lap when she sits down. Teddy loves to give kisses and will kiss your whole face if you let him!

Meet Tori (# 806), a 4-year old female pug. This cutie gets along well with other dogs and loves to cuddle. Tori loves nothing more than to lay in your lap and be petted and is a laid back kind of gal. She is soft, gentle and purely loving. Tori loves kids and does well with cats. Tori’s foster mom says her fur reminds her of a cushy teddy bear – gentle, loving, and comforting. Like most pugs, Tori follows her foster mom from room to room. She’s housebroken and crate trained.

Adopted - July, 2009

Kermit (# 697) was turned over to Animal Control after he was found wandering the streets of Fort Wayne. His age is estimated to be 12-18 months old. Kermit is a big cuddler, loves to be where the people are at all times and is completely housebroken. He loves to be the center of attention and really enjoys it when his foster mom holds him. Kermit likes to be in charge.

Adopted - July, 2009

Samson (# 810) is a sweet 6 year old fawn male that came to KPR after his owners divorced. This talented little pug can give fives and sit. Samson is housebroken and enjoys sleeping in bed with his foster parents, often times sleeping under the covers. He loves to play with dogs and people alike. Samson has experienced allergic reactions to annual vaccinations in the past, but does fine if given an antihistamine like Benadryl first.

Adopted - July, 2009

Meet Ollie (# 488), a 4 year old male pug looking for someone to love and care for him. Poor Ollie was dropped off at the local shelter but he’s living a good life now. When he came to KPR, Ollie’s eye had been damaged and the discomfort was causing him considerable pain. Once his eye was removed his personality bloomed and his foster mom says he is quite the sweetheart. He loves to climb into your lap and snuggle. Like most pugs, Ollie loves attention, people and following his foster mom everywhere. He is crate trained and has no accidents in the house. Ollie knows a few basic commands and is good about baths and nail trims. He enjoys riding in the car and really likes visiting the pet store. Ollie is an alpha dog and would do best in a home with a submissive dog or where he can be king of the castle. Ollie doesn’t mind wearing clothes or costumes – he even keeps on the silly hats that come with the costumes. His foster mom says he makes an adorable pumpkin!

Adopted - July, 2009

Summer (# 706) is a victim of the economy. Sadly her owner could no longer care for her and so she placed her trust in KPR to find this precious pug a good home.

Summer is a beautiful 7 year old female that has food allergies and must be kept on prescription dog food. This little girl is full of personality and mischief. We are told that she will pull all of the toilet paper from the roll if you are not paying attention.

She is potty trained, crate trained, and good with kids, dogs, and cats. She weighs in around 22 lbs and she is just as sweet as she can be.

Adopted - June, 2009

Princess Buttercup (# 702) is around 3 years old and she absolutely loves people. She never meets a stranger. Get anywhere near her and your getting a kiss. You’ve never seen a tail wag so fast and so hard. She is just full of love and happiness.

Princess Buttercup seeks out attention and affection. She will snuggle up against you and just cannot seem to get close enough. She is great with other dogs and she just ignores cats. She loves children and is extremely gentle with them, even sitting patiently while they brush her soft fur. She is also potty trained and crate trained. She is good natured and easy going about baths and also enjoys car rides.

Adopted - June, 2009

Bruce (# 845), formerly known as Snickers, is approximately 2 years old and weighs in at 17 lbs.

This adorable pug loves toys, exploring, and snuggling. He is having a great time with the bigger dogs in his foster home and is fitting right in. He is also fascinated by the pet rats and guinea pigs in the home. He likes to sleep next to his human and his new pug sister at night. He looks really good in red. He is tough and brave. He climbs like a mountain goat. His fur is very soft. His favorite spot in the house is sitting at the kitchen table.

Bruce is just a wonderful little guy that is very thankful for his 2nd chance at a forever home.

Adopted - June, 2009

Abby (#  577) is a young, energetic, and playful 6 years old and she would probably do well in any situation because she is just so good natured and easy going.  She loves her stuffed bear and packs it all around the house. She enjoys playing with toys and also snuggling beside her humans. She is potty trained, crate trained, leashed trained, and loves to go for car rides. She is also wonderful with children, other dogs, and cats.

Baby's Pals for Pugs!

Jenni Webb
Laura Abrams
Nathan and Tami Hoy

Baby (# 553) is believed to be between 8 and 9 years old but the vet found her to be in excellent health.  She is housebroken and is also good with other dogs. Cats are completely ignored.

As if ending up homeless in a shelter wasn’t enough, Baby’s bad luck continued. Her foster family discovered an eye ulcer over the holidays, which resulted in the removal of one of her eyes. Unfortunately for Baby this not only meant a reduction in sight, but possibly a reduction in the number of homes that may be willing to adopt her. There have been a few inquiries for this pug, but potential adoptive families lost interest once they learned she has only one eye. It just isn’t fair!

While she may be missing one eye, nothing else has changed. She is still the same sweet, lovable pug that enjoys playing with her toy for hours. Baby has free run of the house and does great. Her fosters have never crated her because it has never been needed. She is still a wonderful sleeper and loves to sleep in the bed with her humans. Her fosters describe her as lovable and express an intense interest in find her a good forever home. They have fallen in love with her and want a family deserving of such a great pug. She would be best in a house without young children. She is very spunky, but gets along great with cats because she just ignores them.

Adopted - June, 2009

Georgie (# 705) was born on March 11, 2006 and so he is just a little over 3 years old. He is a sweetheart. His foster brags that he has not had any accidents in the house because she is keeping him on a pretty regular schedule. He weighs in at a healthy 24lbs and looks perfect for his size. Apparently his previous owners just left food out all the time, but he is adjusting to eating in the am instead of the PM or whenever. He just went to the vet for a thorough head to paw check up and is current on everything. He even received the pug nasal surgery to help him breathe better. He is microchipped.

Georgie is also adjusting to life with 5 foster brothers and while he was a little intimidated by so many playful pugs at first, he is doing better with each passing day. He sleeps in his crate, but doesn’t like getting into it. The previous owner said he was in it a lot because of her hectic schedule, but once he's placed in the crate he is as good as gold. He's also very good about taking a bath and his fur is sooo soft afterwards.

VERY loving and affectionate are words the foster family uses to describe Georgie. He loves to give kisses and be right with you.

Brutus' Pals for Pugs!

Isaac Kantor

Hi, my name is Brutus (# 820) and I am looking for a home that has someone who is willing to play tug of war with me during the day and snuggle up with me at night. I’m 3 years old and I get along with people and dogs of all ages. In fact, I love to give quick, wet kisses to everyone I meet. I have no problems sharing my food or toys with others and love to go for walks and car rides. I am a healthy and well behaved little boy. My foster family was very happy with me because I go potty outside. They think I’m a pretty special little boy and I think you will too!

Adopted - June, 2009

TicTac (# 504) is a fawn female who is estimated to be about 2 years old. She weighs about 20 pounds, is in perfect health and has the cutest under bite that makes her bottom teeth always stick out. TicTac is full of energy and loves everything a sweet little pug should love: toys, people, and food. TicTac is a bit of an alpha and gets along really well with her 5 foster brothers, although she doesn't get along with her foster sister all the time, who is also an alpha. TicTac loves to get her younger foster brothers to play with her, but they can hardly keep up! If she's not playing, she is chewing on a bone or snuggling on the couch. She is still working on being completely house trained, she isn't the best at letting you know she needs to potty, but if she is let out on a regular basis she does fine. Since TicTac is a bit of an alpha, we would look to place her in a home with more submissive dogs, preferably males. TicTac hasn't had much exposure to children, but she has done well with her foster mom's 3-year old nephew. TicTac loves attention and follows her foster mommy around all day when she is home. She does really well on a leash, but has the most fun when she can run like wild in her foster home's fenced in yard.

Kelsey's Pals for Pugs!

Sherry Lerner
Susan Radtke
Camille Traina, Spanky
& Little Ollie

Kelsey (# 308) is an 8 year old pug that loves to go for walks, doesn’t mind cats, and is great with kids. She is housebroken and has gotten very used to flying in and out of the doggie door at her foster mom’s house. She especially loves to chase after squirrels in the back yard. Kelsey does like to be “top dog” and being the only girl in her foster parent’s house she keeps her brothers in line. This sweet, joyful pug is also crate trained and sleeps in it at night…although she prefers a human bed.

Kelsey was surrendered to KPR with ear infections, yeast infections, and a bladder full of stones. She was urinating blood and in tremendous pain. She had arthritis in her hips and was overweight. She was also diagnosed with dry eye.

Thanks to surgery in spring 2007 for the bladder stones and the loving care of good foster parents she is now living a great life. She dropped 10 lbs and her arthritis is under control. She is on a prescription diet to help manage her weight and prevent future stones and she receives a nutritional supplement, Cosequin, to assist with the arthritis. She also receives eye drops for dry eye.

LeRoy's Pals for Pugs

 Barbara Perry
Stu & Sadie Sobel

This is LeRoy (# 578). He is estimated to be between 5 & 7 years old. He needs someone to spoil him and treat him the way he deserves.  LeRoy was tied outside to a doghouse and covered in filth before he was rescued by a kind lady and brought to KPR. Now he can get the care he needs. He just had 9 teeth pulled and is currently on a soft food diet, but the vet said that he is in good health. He weighs about 18 lbs.

LeRoy is a gentle, good natured boy. In fact, he is shy & timid around the other 5 male pugs in his foster home. He doesn’t seem to know his name yet and his foster mom is working with him on potty training. LeRoy is good in his crate and he cherishes a pillow that he was recently given. He also loves soft treats. He is just a really lovable little boy.

When his foster mom tried to take his picture for the website LeRoy began “talking” to her. She said his whining and howling noises were just “too cute” and that he is full of personality.

Adopted - June, 2009

Bruiser (# 589) is a 1 year old Bugg (Pug/Boston Terrier mix), but his foster family believes he thinks he is a “retriever.” Bruiser loves to retrieve all his toys and take them to his special location, which is usually in the bed. He has a very sweet disposition and is very low maintenance for a younger pug. He does have a ton of energy that he burns off by constantly walking around the house. He has had a few accidents, but this is largely due to a new home and schedule. He loves to play outside, sit beside you on the couch, and snuggle up to you in bed. He does like his crate.

Adopted - May, 2009

Izzy (# 588) is a 2 year old pug. She is on the small side and a little bit underweight. The first few days in her new foster home she didn’t eat well, but that has definitely changed. Now she is the first one to remind them that it’s her “meal time”! She is extremely loving to humans and gets along well with the other dogs in the home. She is also great with the foster family’s two young grandchildren. The foster family isn’t sure how she would do with cats since they don’t have any. Izzy loves the outdoors and runs circles because she is so excited to be outside! She adores attention and will make a great family pet!

Adopted - May, 2009

Stubbs (# 694) is looking for a home to call her own. She weighs 21 pounds and will be 6 years old this October. Stubbs gets along well with her foster canine friends but she really enjoys human companionship most of all. Stubb’s foster home says she is quiet, listens to commands and ignores their cat. She likes to cuddle, is housebroken and crate trained. Stubbs would do well in home where she is the only dog or in a multi-pet household.

Adopted - May, 2009

Wimbley (# 809) is a 2 year old, cute and wonderful little boy. He weighs 18 pounds and loves attention. Wimbley loves to play with his foster pug pals. He will chase and/or bark at the family cat if given the opportunity, but will stop given voice commands. Wimbley would do well in an active home where he can go on walks and play with kids. His potty habits are pretty good if kept on a routine schedule. Wimbley is crate trained.

Adopted - May, 2009

Jackson (# 821) is about 1.5 years old and has made it his mission in life to be a lap dog. This playful little boy loves walks and car rides – anything that will enable him to spend time with people. Jackson is a very cute little boy. He does have a couple of small bald spots on his back, which might not grow back, but that doesn’t distract from his cuteness in anyway. Jackson is a happy pug that loves everyone and every dog.

Adopted - May, 2009

Bella (# 690) is a beautiful little pug/boston terrier mix (“bug”) that is estimated to be 1-2 years old. She is active, athletic, loving and smart. Bella was a little timid when she first arrived at her foster home, but now that she’s comfortable she wants nothing more than to be with her foster mom and play. Bella has already learned how to use a doggie door when she needs to go outside. She loves toys and also loves to play with other dogs. Bella is a friendly dog that enjoys going for walks.

Adopted - May, 2009

Lily Pug (# 595) (aka “Lizzie”) is a 4 1/2 year old little girl.  She was skittish and nervous in her new foster home at first.
Lily settled down pretty quickly and, within two weeks, was running with her pack of 4 pug/bug siblings. A perfect lady most times, her only transgressions are a love of hedonistic belly scratches and digging for treats in the cats’ litter box. But it is these quirks that give a dog her uniqueness and personality.

The pug that was just out of hand’s reach at first has gradually inched her way closer and closer to her foster parents and finally leaped her way into their hearts. They say they are glad that they have opened their home to this lovely little one-eyed girl.

Adopted - May, 2009

Sparkles (# 575) is a one year old pug. She is wonderful with children and doing very well in her foster home. She is gaining weight daily and it probably doesn't hurt that she steals part of a pop tart from the kids each morning. They are just the right height. She even sleeps with them. Sparkles is so good with children that her foster family even took her to day care to show her off. Sparkles loved it! She let all of the kids pet her and did not bother anyone at all. She enjoys being the center of attention.

Sometimes Sparkles will visit the big neighbor dog and she likes to nip and bark at him, then run circles all around him. She doesn't know her size. She is a big dog trapped in a little dog's body. They get along great and she is good with other animals.

Adopted - May, 2009

Bugsy (# 586) won't be 2 until October.  He was surrendered by a family that worked long hours and had to keep Bugsy in a crate the majority of the time. He is very puppyish, and has a lot of energy. He is not used to having full run of the house. Bugsy's foster mom thinks that is why he runs in a lot of circles. He is learning new potty skills.

Bugsy wants to be close to people, but is skittish at first. At night he sleeps as close to his foster parents as possible in their big bed. Bugsy loves to play with stuffed toys and balls and gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters.

Adopted - April, 2009

Pixie (# 555) is a sweet little Bugg, (a mix of Pug and Boston Terrier)! She is a tiny, feisty 7 week old puppy that enjoys playing with her foster sisters and is discovering the joys of going up and down the stairs. While she still have a long way to go, her foster parents have started the housebreaking process. Typical puppy in every way, she is rambunctious and full of energy, but still loves to snuggle up with her foster mommy to take a nap or two.

Adopted - April, 2009

Introducing Abigal or "Abby" (# 632), a 7 month old fawn female, who comes to KPR due to her owners busy work schedule. Abby is a sweet baby that likes to play a lot, which is typical of pug puppies. She does well with other dogs and children. Abby is making steady progress in potty training and her foster home indicates that most of her accidents occur in her crate. She is crate trained, but would prefer to be with her human companions. Abby is very good natured and sleeps through the night in bed with you if given the opportunity.

Adopted - April, 2009

Emmy (# 583) is estimated by the vet to be around 6 or 7 years old.  She is doing very well in her foster home and fitting in nicely! She’s already claimed a spot on the couch where she can watch TV at night and sit close to her foster dads. She was a bit restless the first day, but otherwise doing very well. She has even been going to potty outside. She sleeps with the other dogs at night and just plops right down in bed like she’s been there her whole life. She is an absolute doll! There is no way that you could meet Emmy and not fall in love. I

Adopted - April, 2009

Ralphie (# 590) is just 1 and a half years old.  He is an active little fellow during the day, but at bedtime he gets in his crate and is good all night. He loves food and treats. His foster describes him as “sooooo adorable” and “a perfect little boy”.

He gets along great with other dogs in the household, but likes to chase cats. While he gets along very well with the dogs living in the house, he isn’t fond of his next door neighbors. He hits the privacy fence barking at the dogs next door. His poor little nose is rubbed raw from jumping up against the wood and then sliding down it. His foster is working on this behavior and hopes she can break him of it or as she puts it “he’s really going to be a smoosh face”! He has a little bit of food aggression, but just a little. Mostly growling if any of the others come near so his foster mom has just been keeping them separated when eating and that solves the problem. He is described as a little high strung at times and very laid back at other times. He’s just full of personality!

Adopted - April, 2009

Link (# 591) is young, friendly, and entertaining. His foster says he has a great personality and expects him to be adopted very quickly! He is less than 1 year old.

Link likes to sit on or near you and have his ears rubbed. He craves attention from people and he loves children. He also gets along great with cats. He wants the spotlight and all eyes focused on him. Toys certainly keep him occupied.

This energetic young pug still tries to chase cars and run off, but his foster mom has been working on leash training and they have been walking about 2 miles a day.

Adopted - April, 2009

Elvis' Pals for Pugs!

Rich & Melinda McGee

Elvis (# 664) was rescued from an Indiana shelter the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. This handsome boy is approximately 5 years old and weighs 20 lbs. Elvis loves to go for walks and his foster home says he is making great progress with his occasional marking. He loves to play tug of war with his rope or fuzzy toys. Elvis also loves to fetch and will bring you a toy when he wants to play. He doesn’t seem to mind his foster home’s cats and is good around the other dogs, sometimes curling up with his foster brothers/sisters for a quick nap. Elvis would do well either as a single pet or with other pets. When Elvis was pulled from the shelter he had skin and ear issues possibly related to allergies. His allergies her now kept in check with a weekly spray.

Idzee's Pals for Pugs

Barbara Perry

Idzee (# 667) is a unique-looking English Bulldog-Pug mix that is fawn with dark gray brindle markings. He just celebrated his 4th birthday on December 14th. Idzee is mostly housebroken and kennel trained. He is used to sleeping in his crate at night but loves sleeping with his foster parents too. Idzee is a great listener, knows basic commands, and walks perfectly on a leash. Idzee would love to spend time playing with kids and/or other dogs (he is used to having another dog around to play with). Since Idzee came to KPR after he starting picking on the other bigger dogs in the house, he would do best in a home with dogs his size. Idzee does ok with cats and has not displayed any behavioral issues.

Adopted - April, 2009

Fred (# 679) is a pleasant, active (but not hyper) younger pug that the vet estimates to be between 3 and 4 years old. He is a handsome pug that was an owner surrender. Fred is an all-around nice dog that loves to get on your lap.

Adopted - April, 2009

Willis (# 587) is 1 and a half years old.  He wants so much to please that he wiggles all over and does little circles of happiness. His foster mom tells us that his personality is really starting to shine through. He wants to be petted and enjoys attention. He has a sweet personality and loves to give kisses. He is comfortable sleeping in a crate, but would also be okay sleeping in bed with forever parents or siblings. He doesn’t seem to snore very loud or often (for a pug).

Willis spends his days in foster care running around playing with the other 3 dogs in his home. His foster mom tells us that when she sits down she ends up with a pile of puggies on her and that Willis is usually the one closest to her. He has not grasped using the doggie door, but he will let you know when he needs to go outside to potty.

Adopted - April, 2009

Hi my name is Zoe (# 666) and I came to KPR due to allergies in the family. I’m 8 years old and have the same energy level as some of my younger friends. My foster home is happy to say that I am housebroken and I get along well with other dogs. I love to sleep in my crate and play with my toys – my favorite game is to chase and retrieve toys. I am a tiny little girl weighing 18 pounds and am gentle as a mouse. My foster family thinks I’m the perfect pug in everyway.

Adopted - April, 2009

Candy (#  523) is a 2 1/2 year old fawn puglet that only weighs 9 pounds! She was surrendered to KPR after she was taken away from a puppy mill. This poor baby has spent the majority of her life in a small wire crate turning out babies for her owner to sell! Luckily she was rescued and Candy can now find someone to give her the love she deserves.

Due to her prior living conditions, Candy was emaciated and has a staph infection on her skin. Her back legs were so weak she could not even stand on them for any length of time. She is currently under a vet's care and is recovering nicely. She takes an antibiotic twice a day for her skin, as well as a bath every other day in medicated shampoo. She is also taking glucosamine to help build up her joints. Her foster mom says Candy can climb the stairs now, and keeps up with the rest of the pug pack! She will be spayed and finish her shots as soon as she gains a bit more weight.

Candy is a very gentle dog that loves other puggies as well as children. She has had no accidents in her foster home, and loves to go outside. Her foster mom tried to crate her at night, but the trauma was just too great! She would rather sleep on the floor in a doggie bed, or in the middle of a pug huddle.

Adopted - March, 2009

Kaylee (# 669) is a super sweet 3 year old female pug. She came to KPR as her family could not afford the surgery to remove a bladder stone the size of a quarter. Kaylee had her surgery and has recovered wonderfully. She is now on vet prescribed diet, Hill's C/D, that costs as much as super premium dog food. This prescription food will eliminate future stones from forming. Kaylee loves attention and being held. She gets along with other dogs, walks well on a leash and is housebroken. Kaylee gets so excited to see people that she sometimes piddles a bit from the excitement.

Adopted - March, 2009

Joey (# 658) is enjoying his new life as a companion pet. We believe this 2.5 year old boy was used as a breeder prior to coming to KPR. Joey is housebroken and is learning all the niceties of living indoors, including what treats are and sleeping in bed with his human foster sister. Since Joey came to KPR a little on the thin side, his foster home is working to get him to his correct weight. His foster home says that Joey is super cute and wiggles his entire back end when he is happy and/or excited. Joey loves to cuddle with anyone he can. He gets along fine with other dogs and has left the foster home's cats alone.

Adopted - March, 2009

This beautiful pug was rescued from the cold just before Christmas, so she is fittingly named Merry (# 671), short for Merry Christmas. Merry is 18 months old and is a taller pug weighing about 22 pounds. This pretty girl's coat is more of an apricot color. Prior to coming to KPR, Merry had limited human contact and was a bit wary in her new situation. Merry is quickly learning that she likes things like sleeping next to her foster mom on the sofa as well as being held and petted. Her foster mom says that Merry has come such a long way since coming into foster care and the longer she's had time to adjust, the more she has come out of her shell. No longer is she hanging around in the background, she comes out of her crate freely and joins in with the other dogs. Merry is doing very well with potty training and hasn't had more than one or two accidents in her foster home and as long as she is kept on a schedule she will be fine. Merry is crate trained and enjoys the safety of her crate. She is one of the sweetest little pugs.

Adopted - March, 2009

Clyde (# 680) is a 5 month old black pug puppy. He plays very well with kids and other dogs, big and small. His best friend in the foster home is their 8 month old ferret! Clyde is working on the housebreaking stuff, but is doing a great job so far. He is crate trained and sleeps with a family member.

Adopted - March, 2009

Corkie (# 656) is a sweet young puggle, who is about 1.5 to 2 years old. Prior to coming to KPR, poor Corkie sat in a shelter with a compound broken leg for over a week. Once she was rescued by KPR, she was seen by a vet and had a splint on for 8 weeks. Her splint was removed December 6th and she is already using her leg while running. We're pleased that Corkie is showing signs of a full recovery. Since she is young, she is very active and loves to run and jump, even over baby gates! Corkie is crate trained, where she spent most of her 8 weeks of recovery. She loves to sleep in bed with her foster family, curling right up next to them. Corkie enjoys her older, calmer foster pug brothers and sister more than the younger ones. She barks at other dogs at first, but once she gets to know them, she warms right up. Like most dogs, Corkie will chase cats. Corkie is a good rounded dog that would love to hang out and play with you.

Ginger's Pals for Pugs

Debbie Rigg

Introducing Ginger (# 668), an 8 year old loving female pug. Ginger came to KPR with chronic bladder infections. A visit to the vet revealed that Ginger had several bladder stones. All of the stones were removed and she recovered from the surgery very well. Ginger is on a vet prescribed diet, Hill's U/D, to keep future stones from being formed. The cost of the prescription food is about the same as super premium dog food. Ginger has limited vision in both eyes, but her foster parents say that she sees well enough to come to them and has no problems in going outside. She gets along well with the other dogs in the house, but also enjoys being by herself. Ginger has a unique walk that looks like she is prancing with her front paws.

Adopted - March, 2009

Carson (# 696) is a very cute 2 year old pug that was dropped off at a shelter in central Indiana for unknown reasons. Carson has enjoyed his time in foster care - playing with his foster pug buddies and learning new tricks, like sitting for treats. He has done well in his foster home and loves to play tug of war with his foster pug sister. Carson is housebroken, loves attention and is a shadow / velcro pug.

Adopted - March, 2009

Oscar (# 573) is a young Bug (Pug / Boston Terrier Mix). He is approx. 2 years old.  He looks like a pug, but with longer legs. There is also some white fur on his chest and front legs. He is incredibly happy, healthy, and well behaved. He enjoys playing with his foster sister, but can be aggressive when it comes to food. He is doing great with his potty training. He is also learning some basic manners and commands. This pug is incredibly sweet and super smart. He knows how to sit and shake for treats. He loves humans, children, and other dogs.. He likes cats, but since they don't care for him he sometimes likes to chase them. He is a sweet boy and his foster parents adore him!

Jasmine's
Pals for Pugs!

Frankie, Maxine & Harley Christiansen

A Good Samaritan found Jasmine (# 574) wandering the streets. She is estimated to be approx. 3 years old. The friendly gentleman cared for Jasmine and tried to find her owners, but after a few weeks with no one coming forward to claim her she was surrendered to KPR for additional care and treatment.

She was very thin and had a skin disorder that is now being completely controlled with a weekly bath in a medicated shampoo.

Her foster family tells us that she is very loving and has the greatest snorts and barks.. Jasmine is a snuggle pug and cannot get close enough to people. She is now being playful and chasing after balls. She plays with stuffed animals too.

Adopted - March, 2009

Kate Moss or "Katie" (# 613) is an 8 year old alpha female that gives you the best of both worlds -- she likes to play like a puppy and also likes her "let me watch you with one eye while I nap" time. Katie is such a special little girl that she would like to be your only dog. She gets along fine with cats of various personalities and is in excellent health, weighing about 18.5 pounds. Katie is housebroken if you stick to a schedule - she will go potty outside but will use training pads if she has to go when you're not home. She loves to go on car rides, watching the world go by.

Adopted - March, 2009

Kirby (# 581) is 5 years old and he is one of our top 5 sweetest and easiest fosters and considering he is our 31st, that is saying a lot! He is the best little helper you could ever ask for…if you are asking. He helped me clean the house and we did all of the yard work on his second day in foster care. He was by my side without fail all day long. The next morning he was at my husband's feet to assist him with a conference call, snores and all. Kirby loves to sleep with you and cuddle. He also loves belly rubs and kisses. He makes the most wonderful Pug noises and he has never met a stranger. He was frightened for about 15 minutes of the other dogs, but warmed right up after that and has made fast friends. He also doesn't mind the cats in the residence.

Kirby does have skin allergies. He currently eats Science Diet Sensitive Skin, takes daily antihistamines, and receives regular baths (about every two weeks or so) for his dry, itchy skin. He doesn't mind any of these things. In fact, I just gave him a bath and he hopped right in the tub and stood still while enjoying his scrub down. It is as if he knows the baths help his itching or maybe he just really loves the scrubbing. He is such a sweet and special Pug. He hasn’t had any accidents at all in the house and he knows exactly what all the outside business is about.

Adopted - March, 2009

Daisy (# 579) is a playful 3 year old that will win your heart with all of her quirky antics. She is a little bit of a diva. While she gets along with other dogs, she will not often participate in their nonsense and prefers to just hang out on the back of the couch or by her humans instead. She can be bossy and sometimes even aggressive with other animals. One minute she is ignoring the cats and the next she is telling them off and barking at them. When she goes out to potty she insists on getting a treat and she will tell you where the treats are kept so you don't forget. Daisy gets so excited at the prospect of getting a treat that she runs around in circles. She is great with children and extremely lovable. In fact, all she wants to do is to sit in your lap and be held. Daisy is potty trained and will go in a crate, but doesn't enjoy it much. She will sleep quietly in a crate during the day, but whimpers in it when riding in the car.

Adopted - March, 2009

Dixie (# 556) is a sweet little Bugg, (a mix of Pug and Boston Terrier)!

Adopted - March, 2009

Shadow (# 580) is a 5 year old male pug.  He took to us immediately and has been a wonderful addition to our family.

Initially we were told that he did not like males, but I was able to touch him. He rarely barks, except at other males that come into the house. Our children love him and want to be with him constantly and he loves them right back. He also gets along great with our beagle, Ace.

Shadow is housebroken, neutered, and up to date on all of his shots. He sleeps with us in our room on a bed made for him by his new mommy. He will mostly lie around on a doggie bed or at our feet enjoying the attention bestowed upon him. He has a big smile when his belly is rubbed.

Adopted - March, 2009

Buster (# 534) had to have eye surgery. He had a melting ulcer in his right eye and dry eye in both eyes. He also had distichia (eye lashes growing the wrong way) in both eyes. Luckily this pug will keep both of his eyes and retain some of his vision though his sight will decrease and he will have some scar tissue. The vet said he is doing GREAT! Even better than expected. He will have vision in both eyes, but will have a blind spot in the eye that had the ulcer. He will require one drop in each eye twice a day, but he is getting better about receiving this treatment…thanks to a wonderful foster who wraps him up like a baby in a beach towel, gives him kisses, rubs his head, and then sneaks the drops in.. He loves kisses and attention. His foster jokes that he is already spoiled.

Buster is still a very active and playful guy. He plays with his foster brothers, loves nubby bones, treats, and food! He is a happy little guy who is always wagging his tail and ready to give kisses.

Adopted - February, 2009

Frank (# 560) had severe hair loss on his back legs, chest, and belly due to severe ring worm when his new foster family picked him up…and yet it was love at first sight! Frank instantly fit into the family and so while it took at least six weeks to treat the ringworm and even though Frank also began to experience mild seizures (now being treated with medicine) his foster family knew they had to adopt him and couldn’t bear to ever be without him.

Love and a good diet have put 4 lbs and a soft and shiny coat on this sweet boy. His favorite spot in the house is up on the back of the couch so that he can see everyone and everything going on while also having the best view of the TV. He loves to watch TV. He is so sensitive that if there is anything on that is loud or the least bit violent he will start to whimper and whine under his breath until he cannot stand it anymore and has to run to the TV to make sure everything is okay.

Frank also loves car rides. Ask him if he wants to go for a car ride and his whole body will start to wiggle. His eyes get big while he is sitting in the car on your lap watching the world go by. He totally has his new family wrapped around his little paw. He loves to get in the human bed and will hurry to lie on the pillows before anyone’s head can hit them. He goes to sleep and no one has the heart to move him because he is so cute. Everyone who meets Frank falls under his spell. He is just an adorable boy and is very lucky to have found his forever home right away.

Adopted - February, 2009

Ava (# 572) is a young, female pug. She is only 5 months old as of January 2009. She weighs in at a petite 12lbs. She is energetic and in good health. Her foster is currently working with her on housetraining, but there is still a ways to go in this department.

Ava will act kind of shy at first when meeting someone new, but comes out of it very fast. She is the kind of dog that doesn’t like for you to approach her, but instead prefers to come to you. She loves her toys and rawhides and her foster uses these to help calm her down when she gets really excited. Ava gets along great with her foster pugs and they all enjoy playing together, especially tug of war with toys. She goes to bed each night around 10pm and does good staying in her crate throughout the night.

Adopted - February, 2009

DJ (# 571) is a 6 year old spayed fawn pug that is up to date on all of her shots. She is a dear little girl that is happy and friendly with adults, children, and dogs. She willingly sleeps in her crate and has not had a single potty accident while staying with her fosters. She is affectionate, loving, smart, and curious.

Nellie's Pals for Pugs!

Edward Shertz
Amanda Williamson
Nathan & Tami Hoy

Nellie (# 345) is an 8-10 year old female who came to us very sick with Giardia, a parasite that causes vomiting and diarrhea. She was extremely dehydrated and had to spend several days in the hospital before we could bring her to her foster home. Once we got her well enough, she went into the vet for vaccinations and tooth cleanings and came out with only six teeth! She manages fine with those six teeth though, and like any pug, loves her food and never misses a meal! She is a sweet girl who loves her new foster mom and follows her everywhere. When mom leaves she sits by the door until she comes home, even if it is hours! She is great with kids and cats, but she is an alpha and likes to be the boss, so would do well in a home with a submissive dog. She loves her dog brothers and likes to get in the kennel and cuddle up with them, but she will correct them if she feels like they need it! She loves to spend her days relaxing on the sofa, and she loves to take naps in the bed with her foster mom! She is crate trained, although she would prefer to be with her people.

Adopted - February, 2009

Brewster (# 672) is a 5 1/2 year old black male that has an adorable white paw and a white blaze on his chest. Sadly, Brewster comes to KPR as his beloved owner has a serious illness and is no longer physically able to care for him. Brewster is a big boy weighing in at a whopping 30 pounds. His foster home is working on getting some of the extra weight off him, but he will still be a big boy even after his ʽdietʼ. Brewster is just about the perfect dog - he is housebroken, loves other cats and dogs and really loves kids. This quiet, calm boy just wants to be with the people, either sitting on your lap or beside you. Brewster loves to be petted and will grab your hand when you stop and loves to cuddle up as close as he can. He is crate trained and will get in his crate when asked, but he prefers to sleep in the bed with his foster family. Brewster's wish is to be the center of attention in your home!

Adopted - February, 2009

Meet Kirby (# 621) and Colby (# 622) – a dynamic duo of pug love! These two boys are about 1.5 to 2 years old and have a lot of energy to burn. They are nearly housebroken and do very well when kept on a regular schedule. These two little boys are so very special. Their most favorite thing in the world to do is sit in your lap so they can snuggle and cuddle. These two give a whole new definition to the words bonded pair – they don’t like to be apart for any reason. They really enjoy playing with other dogs, but need to be in a home where the other dogs don’t play too rough.

Kirby is a tiny little guy, only weighing 8 pounds. He has a dysplastic left hip that pops in and out, which does not appear to cause him any pain, but he will have early onset arthritis as he ages. Your vet will be able to recommend an arthritis management program to keep Kirby active and comfortable as he gets older. Kirby loves to run and play hard – so hard that sometimes his front leg will go out from under him and he ends up doing a couple of somersaults in the process! His foster mom says that it’s not uncommon for the tip of his tongue to stick out of his mouth, which makes him incredibly adorable!

Colby is also a smaller pug, weighing 11 pounds. He has KCS (dry eye) in both eyes and is somewhat visually impaired. Colby will occasionally bump into things but functions extremely well with the majority of his vision intact. He requires daily prescription ointment to stimulate the tear production in his eyes. Colby is a good sport about getting his daily treatment.

Introducing two bundles of love known as Firby (# 676) and Gizmo (# 677). Just 3 years old, these adorable little pugs were used previously as a breeding pair. Weighing in at 18 and 20 lbs, they are picture perfect! Firby will occasionally mark, but this has decreased significantly since being neutered. His foster mom just puts a belly band on him when she is not around to monitor his marking. The belly band is always dry and she feels with some watching the marking issue can be controlled. He loves to kiss and is very bonded to Gizmo. Little Miss Giz, as her foster mom calls her, is one of the sweetest babies ever. She is very entertaining if you tell her to chase her tail - it is hilarious to watch her spin and spin! We are not too sure what she would do if actually caught her tail. She has only had one accident in the house on her first day in her foster home.  Firby and Gizmo both get along with other dogs, kids and cats but Gizmo does have issues with wild animals like squirrels. Gizmo does have a high anesthesia risk and must be monitored very carefully during any surgeries. This amazing little pair both love toys and enjoy playing.

Introducing Julia (# 663), a very cute 1 year old pug puppy. This petite little girl only weighs 13 lbs. When Julia came into foster care, she was a little thin so her foster home is working on getting her to a healthy weight. Julia is all puppy and wants to play 24-7. She does great with her foster canine pals and adores kids. Julia initially wasn't too sure about cats and is learning not to chase them when they run.

Meet Heidi (# 627), a wonderfully sweet 7 year old girl that has great potential to be someone's best friend. Before coming to KPR, Heidi was used as a breeding dog all her life and lived in the basement with little human contact. When she came to KPR she didn't even have a name. But, instead of being shy or afraid of people, Heidi desperately craves human affection - she loves to be held, hugged and petted. Heidi is a gentle girl that gets along well with other dogs. In fact, she doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body! Heidi's foster mom continues to work on house training and says that she is somewhat paper trained. Since Heidi lived in a basement for years, she was never properly housebroken and really doesn't understand the outside world.

Minnie's Pals for Pugs!

Nathan and Tami Hoy

Minnie (# 646) is a complete lover-pug. Her foster mom says that Minnie reminds her of a baby seal with her soulful eyes. Minnie is 8 years old and was used as a breeding dog all her life. Now that she's been retired as a breeder, she craves human affection and has become a velcro pug - wanting to be with you or sitting in your lap or laying beside you. Minnie is housebroken and is trained in using a doggie door. While Minnie has a spot on one of her eyes, which doesn't bother her, she is serious about affection. She likes a lot of it and wants to be with you as much as possible.

Wrigley (# 570) is a loving, black female pug, who will be celebrating her 4th birthday in March. She is a petite little girl who weighs 18lbs and seems to be in excellent health. She is potty trained and has not had one single accident in her foster parent's house, but she is used to following a potty routine and goes out once in the morning, afternoon, and evening. She has a wonderful personality and is named Wrigley for a reason. She loves wriggling around in your arms or on top of you before settling down! She is playful and bounces around with her little tail wagging, just waiting to be petted! Wrigley sleeps with her foster parents and her foster brother and sister, all in one bed!! Wrigley will only cry if you put her in a crate. Though she was fine at first, her foster parents quickly spoiled her to the point that going in a crate now will simply not do! She enjoys playing with her foster brother and sister in their fenced in back yard, and is good with younger children as well. Wrigley is used to  having free range of the house when her foster parents aren't home, as well as when they are. Wrigley responds to "sit," "treat," "out," and "potty."

Hi! You can call me what you want Pooky, Pickles, Shaky, or Gunner (# 535). The vet estimates that I am 1 - 2 years old. I've had many names because I have had a tough life out on the streets. I was found eating out of trash cans in the hot summer sun. Some nice folks called my owners who tried to give me away before they reluctantly retrieved me...only to drop me back on the streets later without my collar. They just didn't want me anymore and I don't know why? My foster mom says I am very sweet and lovable. After a month of being outside, eating what I could find, and losing weight, a nice school teacher took pity on me when she saw I could barely breathe. She let me stay with her, her husband, and 3 children until she could call KPR. I loved those kids. I would give the 2 year old lots of hugs and kisses and play with the boys. I get along with everyone, even cats and other dogs. When my foster mom saw me she said I would find a forever home right away because I was young, energetic, smart and I always potty outside...but my luck wouldn't change that soon. I was heartworm positive when I came to KPR, but they helped me get treatment and now I'm all better.

Bowzer (# 569) is a healthy, neutered, male pug, who is approximately 4-years-old. He is a sweet, loving boy who enjoys snuggling with mom and dad on the couch. He has to be close and prefers to be between the two, but will settle for one. He loves to run around the house and chase the kids and the cat for fun. He has quickly become attached to a snowman stuffed toy and likes to chew away at a nylabone. He loves meal time, as well as treat time. He enjoys long walks and gets plenty of them daily with his new, "big" family of six. Bowzer is a people pug and has to visit with everyone passing by when he is out in public. He is house-trained and very well behaved.

Haley (# 651) is a tiny (11 pound) 3 year old bundle of energy and she insists on being in charge of things. Haley will keep you busy demanding attention and snuggling up as close as possible to you! Haley is an alpha female and enjoys the company of dogs, but can conflict with other dogs who also wish to be dominant. Haley enjoys sleeping under the covers with her foster dad and is also crate trained. She loves to go in her crate and stays in her crate during the day.

Hello! My name is Wesley (# 561) and I am a young, 2 yr old, playful fawn male. I have been neutered and I do well with other dogs. Due to my previous status as a stray, I am a bit underweight and will require a nutritious diet to help get me back to what my appropriate weight should be. Weighing in at only 14 lbs now, my proper weight according to bone structure should be around 20-25 lbs. I have the most adorable little face in the world and I love being shown affection, as I follow my foster parents everywhere around the house. I love receiving treats, and actually respond to simple commands such as “sit” and “shake my hand.” I also enjoy running and playing in my foster parent’s fenced-in backyard with my foster brother and sister. This helps me stay active, as I am still a young fellow.

Toby (# 548) is an adorable pug mix (most likely a puggle). Sweet Toby was born on August 18th in a Kentucky animal shelter. Toby has four siblings, but only one other pup survived (see Tucker # 547). While he may not want to admit it, Toby is a fat and sassy little guy. Since he's a pup, he is full of energy and loves to play. His favorite thing to do is give kisses and play with fleece or stuffed toys. Toby is very social and does very well with other dogs.

Tucker (# 547) is a handsome little pug mix (most likely a puggle) that was born in a Kentucky animal shelter on August 18th. Tucker's mom delivered five pups, but sadly only two survived (see Toby # 548). Tucker is a "chunky monkey" that thrives on being held and getting your undivided attention. Since he's a pup, he is inquisitive and active.

Winston (# 640) is hoping that he will be able to celebrate his 4th birthday on December 16th in his new home. Winston is a perfectly healthy 3 year old male pug. He is housebroken and enjoys sleeping with his stuffed Snoopy toys. Winston is a very well mannered boy that gets along with other dogs and does not mind cats. He will sleep in the bed with you all night, but be prepared for a loud snorer!

Willa (# 566) was surrendered to KPR because she has problems getting along with other female dogs. She gets along fine with male dogs, and has been placed in a home with a male pug and we are happy to report that everyone is getting along splendidly.
