Rosie came to live at the Potter-Kirk Pug Pavilion All-Stars in
April 2002. It all started when Jen of Kentuckiana Pug Rescue asked
if my friend Pam and I could help out with a rescue. Would we drive
from Evansville, IN, to Madisonville, KY, to pick up a feisty pug
girl from the Humane Society? This one-year-old pug would then be
available for adoption by some lucky person. Of course, the answer
was yes. Pug Rescue was on its way to save the day! Rosie was all
over the place at the Humane Society. How would she react to
spending some time at my house with my four other pug babies? I
would be keeping her overnight until Jen could transport her to
Louisville. I was shocked at how quickly everyone started running
and playing together when Rosie arrived, especially Molly, my golden
retriever and Rosie herself. I always wanted Molly to have a
playmate; little did I know that it would be a one-year-old pug
girl! Actually Rosie’s original name was Molly, too. I swear that
Molly and Rosie are twins, but wearing different outfits! In this
short amount of time, I also saw a bond forming between Pam and the
energetic youngster. Needless to say, Rosie had found her forever
home… she was meant to be a part of the Potter-Kirk Pug Pavilion
All-Stars! Shortly after we decided to adopt Rosie, she was
diagnosed with Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, a deterioration of the
femoral head (hip joint). This disorder can be serious and sometimes
requires surgery, but Rosie is now a “terrible two,” and so far, it
hasn’t slowed her down a bit!
