Today is Monday morning and we have had Miss Ethel, aka "Puggy", for
less than 48 hours. She has already found her place in our home and
our hearts. We had been thinking about getting a little girl
pug for a couple of years. Our pug mix, Fred, was needing a sister.
I found the Kentuckiana Pug Rescue web site back in January of this
year, looked it over and sent in an adoption application. I
corresponded with Trudy and she assured me that when Fred's little
sister came along, she would let me know. Two months to the day I
applied, I got an email from Hope telling us about Puggy. At first I
was a little apprehensive, because she is an older dog-nine years
old. Fred is eight and I really pictured us getting a dog under
five. I talked it over with my husband and we decided to go
for it. After all,
Fred is so active and loving at eight, if something happened to us
we would hate to think that Fred's age kept him from a loving home.
Dana came and did our home inspection and we "passed". Needless to
say we were very excited and couldn't wait to bring our little girl
home. Melissa, Ethel's foster mom, kept in contact with me and was
so great about answering our questions.
Saturday we met with Melissa and got our little girl. We were so
excited all the way up to Louisville and on the way home. Miss Ethel
took everything in stride in her new home. She does have some vision
problems and we keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't run into
anything. She is a mama's girl and follows me everywhere. Her and
Fred have had a few misunderstandings, but I believe they are
working through them. She is a very confident little dog who is used
to being the boss and you can tell she has been very well loved all
her life. She sleeps on her special pillow (that came with her)
during the day and at night sleeps with my husband, Kenneth and
myself. She is discovering toys and has a favorite stuffed dog toy
that she loves to chase after and grab and shake. She is so silly
acting at times and it seems her personality is coming out for all
to see very quickly. She is such a good girl, no accidents in the
house--I still can't believe that!! She just wants to be near her
people and be loved.
I want to thank Kentuckiana Pug Rescue and all their wonderful
volunteers for the wonderful work they are doing and for helping us
bring our little girl to her new forever home.
