Pixie ( KY #984) is an 8 week old pug mix. Pixie is the ultimate cuddle bug.  She currently weighs three pounds. Loves to be held and will follow you wherever you go.  Loves playing with her four legged foster sister and her human foster brothers and sisters.  Pixie loves to give kisses!

Meet Ari, the 8 week old Pug mix! "Ari" means many different things in different languages; fearless, brave, bold, bear, lion, gold. All of these adjectives describe this little Prince perfectly! Ari loves to play with his grown foster dog siblings, his foster cat sibling, shoelaces, leaves, blankets, his shadow, and basically anything he can spot. He loves life and is full of energy and spunk one minute and then snoozing the next minute. He would be a wonderful addition to any home! He is almost potty trained (at only 8 weeks, he had only 1 accident in 24 hours!) and sleeps in his crate at night. He is truly a darling and hysterical to watch. Ari is definitely fearless and even though he's only 4 lbs he is giving his foster dog siblings a run for their money! He's extremely smart (learned stairs in 2 tries) and very curious. We know once you get a hold of this little guy, you'll never want to let him go!

Meet Trixie (#1231), a 6 year old female pug that came to KPR from a retiring puppymill. Before coming to KPR, Trixie did not know what living in house was all about. Trixie is handling the transition very well. She’s learning to walk on a leash, learning not to be scared of people or her environment, and learning to be a companion. Trixie is crate trained, but her foster family keeps her in an exercise pen, so that she has freedom to roam and it doesn’t remind her of her mill days. Trixie had 13 teeth removed during her dental, but it hasn’t impacted her eating whatsoever. She has a beautiful marking of a black stripe down her back. Trixie loves kids and leaves cats alone and would do well either as an only dog or as an additional dog. Trixie recently attended the famous pug party in Chicago and did great!!

Gus #996 is a wonderful little pug who is approximately 2 years old.  Gus's initial owner was elderly and became ill, which led to his need to surrender him.  He planned to take him to a shelter, but a kind family took him in to save him from going to a shelter.  This family took care of him for several weeks and made attempts to find him a good home, but they were unable to do so.  They did not have time to give him the attention he deserves, so we now have the pleasure of caring for this little bundle of energy.  He is very energetic and loves to play.  He is also very cuddly, and will be right next to you or in your lap whenever you are sitting down.  He is good with cats as well as with other dogs.  He is also great with children.  He is housebroken and crate trained.  He is a very sweet and loving baby, and he would be a wonderful addition to any family.  He is healthy, heartworm free, neutered, and up to date with all vaccinations and veterinary needs.

Radio's Pals for Pugs
Ring Schramm wedding

Radio (#1242) is a 6 year old male pug that loves all people, big and small. Before coming to KPR, Radio lived in an apartment. His owner decided he didn’t want him anymore after Radio started marking in the home. Radio has been doing really well in his foster home, who continues to work with him on his house breaking [belly bands are very helpful during this process]. Radio gets along great with other dogs and leaves cats alone, but is not fond of being crated. His foster home says that Radio will scream/cry when crated, which is not ideal for an apartment situation. Radio walks well on a leash. He recently attended the famous pug party in Chicago with his foster family. They said that Radio loved all the people and pugs that came in – he just wanted to be loved by all during this fun event. Radio is allergic to fleas and has become immune to the Revolution flea control product, but is fine as long as he is on the brand Comfortis. Please consider giving this spunky guy the forever home he deserves.

Bogie (#1220) is a mellow kind of pug. He’s around 5 years old and loves to spend his day hanging out with his people and getting attention. Bogie loves to have his neck scratched and is ever so eager to roll on his back for a belly rub. His foster mom says that Bogie will tap her with his paw for more affection. Bogie is housebroken and knows a few basic commands. There’s really nothing more to say, other than Bogie is a great all-around dog.

Butchie (KPR #1218) is a 7 year old black male pug that was living in an animal shelter before KPR came to bail him out. Butchie’s foster mom says that he is ‘prematurely gray’ with his white face and that he is very active and can kick it into gear when it comes to play time. Butchie is quite handsome and loves to cuddle. This well behaved pug would make a great addition to any family.

Ebbie(#1106)  is a sweetheart. Absolute love pug. She loves to give kisses. Plays with all 6 of her foster pug brothers. Very fiesty and active. Sleeps in her kennel all night without fussing. Always gets a treat when I put her in the kennel. She loves her treats and dental chew bones. I don't think she knew what treats were until she came to my house. It took her a few days to catch on. Now she waits patiently with those big eyes on you while you get the treats. She's 7 yrs old and only 11 lbs. There's a lot of personality packed into that 11 pound body! She's really good about going out. Occasionally she has a little accident inside, but is learning.

Ethel #995 is a sweet 7 year old female. Her foster mom describes her as a wonderful little "bossy butt" and a real jewel. She loves to snuggle under the covers or by her human on the couch. She is housebroken and gets along with other dogs as long as she can be the boss. This sweet girl may be a senior but she still has plenty of love and kisses to give. Is Ethel the girl to make your home complete?

Idgy( KY #985) is a feisty female pug mix who was named after the charecter in Fried Green Tomatoes due to her feisty spunk. The runt of the litter, Idgy makes up for her small size with a BIG personality. If your looking for a fun little puppy with a big personality, Idgy is for you. She is 8 weeks old as of October 10th.

Bowser ( KY #983) is an 5 month old pug mix.  He's such a sweetheart and loves to be wherever the people are.  If you stand in one spot for more than a minute it's likely that he'll be curled up on your feet taking a nap.  He loves to cuddle on your lap and to give puppy kisses.  He can also be quite rambunctious, and when he's in a playful mood he has a ton of energy.  His favorite toy to play with is the tug of war rope, and anything similar he can chew on.  He's an adorable puppy, and we just know he'll make a wonderful dog for some very lucky people

Hello. My name is Emmy Lou ( #1267) and I LOOOOOVE YOUU!!!!!!  I am only about 2-3 years old but am just now learning what its like to be a spoiled and loved pug. My previous people skipped town and left me tied to the porch in the cold IN winter.... I lost track of how long I was out there before a nice lady found me and surrendered me to KPR so I would not be put to sleep. When I was rescued my vet said I had one of the worst cases of ear mites ever seen but otherwise I was healthy. No worms, fleas and heartworm negative!!! My back end is a little stiff due to either a previous injury or a birth defect. I get around very well I just cant jump or use steps very well. I am on two medications to help me move better and they really work. I now can chase cats and almost catch them!! I I love to play with cats and other dogs but because my balance is a little off if you have bigger dogs they need to play gentle so they dont knock me over. I also like to play with stuffies. I'm working on house breaking and crate training and doing very well at paper training. I love to cuddle and ride very well in the car. I love all pugs and whenever I see a person outside I  insist on stopping in case they want to pet me!! I will tolerate being dressed up in clothes and even have a few of my own sweaters already. If you are looking for a sweet little cuddle bug, I am the dog for you. Please give me my forever home!!

Hi, my name is Petunia(#1253) and I am a 3 year old female who was rescued from a breeder where I was kept in a pen all my life.  Because of this, I am shy around humans, although I am slowly coming around.  I love attention, but just don't know how to be a lap dog yet.  If you sit down with me, I will play with you and shower you with kisses.  I love my foster moms other dogs, and run around chasing them.  I also LOVE the cats here in the house, and I love that they let me clean their ears!  I am working very hard on my potty training, and have very few accidents as long as I am let out on a regular schedule.  But I am crate trained, and my foster does crate me when she leaves the house, and I like going in my crate to sleep at night.  I was rescued with my sister Lemon, who I am bonded with, but I would do okay without her also.  Won't you give me a nice home and teach me that human love is really a good thing?

Hi, I'm Lemon(#1252) and I am a 4 yr. old female rescued from a breeder.  I was kept in a pen there all my life and as a result am shy around humans.  But I am making great progress!  I am not a total lap dog yet, but I do love hugs and I love giving kisses.  I follow my foster all around the house.  I love my fosters other dogs, and really love the cats here in the house.  I am doing great on my potty training, but still need a little work.  As long as I am let outside on a regular schedule, I have almost no accidents.  I am totally crate trained (my foster does crate me when she leaves the house) and I enjoy going in my comfy crate on my own at night to sleep.  I will be a very sweet, loving and outgoing dog to any lucky family, I just need to warm up to you a little first!

Introducing Mr Bear(#1092)! Born on March 31st  we believe Bear is a Pugzhu(a Pug Shihtzu mix).  His Mama is a full blooded Pug and we think his Daddy was a Pugzhu.  Mr. Bear has a love for adventure and enjoys climbing on people who visit him!

Hi, I am Frankie( KY #1109).I am about 4 years old. My foster mom says that I am an absolutely wonderful dog.  If you are looking for a velcro love Pug who is ready to play then I am your girl!  I am great with kids and other pets and am housetrained.  I do have some Chihuahua in me, but it only makes my snout an inch or so long instead of flat, so I can actually breathe better than the average Pug. I am also petite at only 17lbs."
Frankie was surrendered to KPR due to economic reasons surrounding a divorce.  Her "mother" was devastated to lose her and said she was going to sleep on a park bench with Frankie rather than turn her into a shelter.  Thankfully she did find KPR and did not have to use that bench!

Poncho #998:I am a very happy 4 year old pug.   I am super snugly especially at night in bed with my foster mom and dad.   I get along great with my foster brother and sisters.   I do like to protect my kibble by barking and charging at other dogs staring at my dish.   I have had  surgery on both knees.   I love to walk and play and be as close to all people as I can get.   I have arthritis so even though I can walk steps now -- the older I get the harder it will be for me to navigate stairs.  I hope I can find my forever home.  I will sit on your lap and give you a lot of love.

Introducing Delilah [#1257], a super sweet and really cute 8 year old female pug. Delilah is an all-around great dog and would make a great first pet or a second or third addition! She is housebroken and her foster mom is working on crate training. Delilah has such a great disposition – she gets along with other dogs and cats too. One of her favorite pastimes, when she’s not hanging out with her foster mom, is to catch a quick nap. Don’t miss the opportunity to make this perfect little pug part of your family.

Meet Rocky (KPR #1274), a 3 year old male pug that’s looking for a little stability in his life. Poor Rocky has been shuffled from home to home probably because of his strong willed, possessive nature. Rocky’s foster mom describes him as The Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz as his frequent rehoming has resulted in insecurities. We feel strongly that
if someone were to work with Rocky, he will continue to gain
confidence, growing into a great companion.

This young pug will require a home where he can be the only dog and someone that can keep up with his active lifestyle. Rocky weighs about 25 pounds and is both house and crate trained. He loves to play with stuffies, go on walks and receive "vigorous" rubs and scratches. Rocky does require daily eye drops from a previous injury and he handles them like a champ! Rocky’s foster mom says his best features are that he is smart, friendly, affectionate and an excellent watch dog. He likes both men and women and is ok around older kids [he likes to jump and can knock little ones over]. Rocky hasn’t been around cats, so we don’t know how he’d react. We do know that he needs to be the only dog in the home.

A firm, affectionate home will go a long way in turning this young pug’s life around. Rocky is desperate to have a permanent place to call home once and for all. This sad story can, and will, have a happy ending for both Rocky and his new owner.

SweetPea # 811 I am a spayed female that was born 8/14/2000 and as you can see I am missing one eye. I am exactly what my name says I am . . . Sweet.
My former owner has lung cancer and is confined to a wheelchair. He used to tie several leashes together so he could safely let me go outside and do my "business."  Unfortunately he will not be leaving the rehab facility and come home to take care of me. The kind folks at KPR stepped in to rescue me and give me a new place to live.  I have a luxating patella that does not slow me down one bit. I can out-run my other foster sisters and brothers. As you can see, I stick out my tongue, but don't mean it personally. My foster mom has to touch it every once in a while and remind me to put it back into my mouth so "it doesn't dry up and fall off!" I know she doesn't mean it, but I do what she says to please her. I love to watch TV and root around in the covers while doing so. I do not mind the cats at all and let them come and go as they please. I like to chew on cow hoofs as well as stuffed toys. Sometimes I even try and sneek them outside when it is time to do my "business." Consider me as a member of your family and I will give you my unconditional love.

Ellie #991 is a 5 month old pug mix full of puppy energy. Her favorite this are snuggling (she has a typical pug personality and loves to be close to her humans), playing (pestering) her foster siblings, chew toys, and treats! She is very smart and has completed a puppy kindergarten course. She is crate trained and is doing very well on potty manners. She has the cutest lil under bite, and I think it gives her personality! She will be a joy to have in anyone's home.

Meet Nya (KPR #1263), a black female pug that is around 8 or 9 years old. Nya was turned into animal control because her former owner wanted her euthanized. That was Nya’s lucky day because animal control contacted KPR so that Nya could live out the rest of her life being taken care of the way she deserves. Nya is quite active and is in good general health. She has a disjointed hip, which the vet thinks is either a result of a birth defect or an older injury. However, this condition doesn’t slow Nya down one minute. Nya’s foster mom describes her as a happy, jolly lady pug that loves to be cuddled.

Quinton (#1293) is a 2-year old boy looking for a home to call his own. Poor Quinton has been in and out of shelters too many times in his young life, getting adopted, only to be returned for whatever reason. Despite this, Quinton has a great disposition and is eager to make someone a great companion. Quinton is an energetic boy weighing about 25 pounds. His foster mom says that he absolutely loves their 7-year old daughter and while cautious of their 9-month old daughter, does extremely well with her. Quinton gets along well with other dogs and cats, loves to go on walks [he can go 4x further than the foster home’s pugs], and is in great health. Quinton’s foster home says that he is an absolute love, a true velcro dog, always one step behind. Don’t let this great dog pass you by!

Chopper is a 7yr old, fawn, male Pug.  He is crate trained and potty trained.  I've never had an accident in the house with him.  Chopper is very loving and wants nothing more than to be with his human.  Be that lazing on the couch or wandering around in the back yard.  He's not much of a toy player or bone chewer though.  In fact the only thing he wants to chew all the time is food or treats.  But what Pug doesn't!  Chopper knows simple commands such as:  come, sit, outside and go lay down.  He also knows non verbal hand commands.
Chopper is a very good and loving Pug who would fit in with any home where he is shown love and attention.  He get along with young children and other animals/dogs as well.  He is pretty quiet most of the time but will defiantly let you know when he thinks its time for a treat or food.  He has the cutest bark/snort/howl, you have to hear it for yourself!  And like any Pug he will do anything for a Treat!

This SnugglePug is ready for a "forever home". Stevie [KPR#1254] is a special boy that loves to be held, cuddled and petted. If you are looking for a special dog to love you unconditionally, Stevie is the one.

Stevie is nine years old. Due to a dog fight when he was much younger Stevie had to have his eyes removed. But, don't let that scare you away. He is friendly, energetic and very affectionate. He is extremely well potty trained and has never had an accident in his foster home. He is also very easy to care for. He will only need help learning his new home lay-out and then will be able to move around your home on his own. He loves to be outside in nice weather. He gets along with other dogs in his foster home, but should not be in a home with any aggressive pets as this will frighten him. He also likes children, but would not be a good fit in a home with small children.

Stevie is a true "SnugglePug". You haven't lived untl he's draped in your arms snoring!!

Ozzie & Sunnie returned to KPR in October 2011 due to their owner’s unfortunate financial circumstances.  They were skinny, with hot spots & a mild case of worms for Ozzie and ear problems for Sunnie.  After some TLC, they are flourishing in foster care!  Ozzie absolutely LOVES squeaky toys & acts like a puppy most of the time.  He has the sweetest eyes that will make you fall in love with him immediately.  He recently had dental surgery, so his breath is minty fresh!  Sunnie is a snuggler whose daily goal is to find a comfy bed or couch to relax-we call him a “teddy bear”.  He loves belly rubs & Snausages treats!  Both boys are big fans of going on walks and riding in the car and would love to do both in their forever home.  They get along with other dogs, cats & guinea pigs, haha!  Ozzie has some mild skin allergies, but feeding him salmon-based dry dog food helps keep them under control.  Whoever adopts them will get double the laughs & double the love from these cute, sweet, adorable boys!

Carlos (KPR #1248) is simply irresistible. One look at his cute face and you will want to adopt him. Carlos is a 1.5 year old pug/yorkie mix that came to KPR due to his owner’s failing health. Since Carlos’ previous owner was older, he hasn’t had any exposure to kids. While Carlos isn’t particularly a fan of kids, he does fine with dogs of all sizes.

Rex (KPR# 1270) the pug is patiently waiting for his forever home. Rex is approximately 8 years old, weighs 20 pounds and has a beautiful apricot coat that is so soft! He is a very healthy guy, despite the fact that he only has three teeth. He does fine eating hard food and his teeth don't give him any problems. Rex is the sweetest, most loyal pug around. He loves to follow his person around wherever they go and look up at them lovingly with his big beautiful eyes. He also loves to wrestle with his younger foster siblings - he actually gives them a run for their money! Rex is also very good with cats. It is recommended that Rex go to a home with either no children or a home with children that are older and know how to approach him. Rex would make a great addition to any family that doesn't have young children. Are you his forever family?

Linus (#1272) is a 6 year old male pug. His foster mom says that he is the most snuggly little thing, he knows just where to curl up on your lap, use your arm as a chin rest. Linus is very smart and responds well to basic commands - sit, down, stay, free. He is potty trained and also crate trained. Linus loves to sleep in bed but is also fine sleeping in his crate. His foster mom says that he likes to start out under the covers, but will end up sleeping next to her at some point during the night, laying his head on her shoulder. Linus loves any toy that squeaks and is really good at fetch. He is not your typical couch potato pug – he loves to walk and stay active. Linus is a curious boy. He likes to follow you around the house as you go about your day and he also likes to monitor the yard and the goings-on out a window or keep you company while you are in the yard. Linus wants nothing more than to be the only shining star in his owners life; therefore, he would be a great fit in a home without small children and where he is the only dog, a home where Linus has plenty of sole attention and affection from his owner. Linus just wants to be the apple of someone's eye and in return, they will get an amazing, sweet, smart boy that loves with all his heart.

Tristan (KY1114) is a sweet young energetic pug with a passion for squeakies, lap cuddles, playing with other dogs and going for walks with his people. He is only about 2 years old and loves to be the center of attention! Tristan came to KPR after his people abandoned him when he was hit by a car and broke his leg. He is currently on medical hold untill the beginning of July when he gets his leg rechecked and gets neutered. His leg appears to be healing well and since no join is involoved the vet doesnt think it will affect his mobility at all. He makes friends with everyone he meets and will make a great addition to any family. He gets along with other dogs, is interested in cats and loves people of all ages. If you think Tristan may be the one for you dont hesitate to get approved

Sweet Bubbles [KPR #1285] is a quiet, undemanding, affectionate 4 to 5-year old girl that loves to go on walks and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Bubbles’ foster mom says that she is a true companion dog that wants to be wherever her human is. She loves to sleep in bed with her foster parents but does not do well in a crate. Bubbles does have some difficulty with her back legs as they have started to weaken with age. Wood floors seem to pose the most difficult challenge for her to navigate. Her foster parents assist Bubbles with her mobility by carrying her up and down any stairs and across slick surfaces, such as wood flooring. While Bubbles has excellent bladder control, she does have bowel incontinence. Bubbles simply doesn’t know when she has to go, so her foster parents watch for signs and help her outside. While all this might seem like a lot for some people, we know there’s a special someone out there who will see this sweet pug not for her special needs, but for her sweet and gentle soul. Bubbles’ foster mom says that Bubbles is a total heart breaker as she has already stolen their hearts!

Pudge #1103 is between 3-4. He gets along with cats and dogs and loves to give kisses to people. He LOVES tennis balls and is getting used to the car rides. He does have an old injury to his back legs that is causing a little bit of a funny walk  and some hip dysplasia that means he cant jump or use stairs but that does stop him from running as long as he has traction under his legs. He needs rugs on wooden floors but put him on the grass outside and he will wear you out wanting his tennis ball!. He is able to pull himself up onto the couch to be your cuddle buddy and doesnt mind baths as long as he has a mat for traction. He is housebroken and loves lamb/rice dog food. If you think this little man would be a good fit for your family dont hesitate to apply.

Paco (KPR #1292) is an extremely sweet, smart 3-year old male pug. He is housetrained, good with kids, other dogs and cats and is just a real people dog. Paco follows his foster mom everywhere she goes – he just wants to be with his people.  Paco is a playful boy and especially enjoys his stuffed toys. He will need a secure fenced in yard, as he can sneak out any holes or gaps in a fence; otherwise he may try to get to his people if he can’t see them and knows they’re in the front yard. Paco will make someone a great companion, as he is really just a great, great dog!

Jackie #1264 is a very little girl (around 14 lbs), who is estimated to be about 8 years old.  She came to KPR with skin, ear, and urinary tract infections, but you would never guess from the way she acted!  Even from the beginning, Jackie has been such a sweet, affectionate girl, and she loves to cuddle with people and dogs alike.  She has lost much of her sight from nighttime dry eye, but that doesn’t stop her from leading a normal life.  After just a couple of weeks in her foster home she had already learned her way around, including managing the stairs!  Her infections have since cleared up, she has been spayed, and has drops for her eyes.  Last on the list is putting some weight on her!  She was very thin upon coming to KPR, but this won’t be difficult to fix if she’s anything like most pugs!

Rocco #1121  is a very happy and active little man around 6 years old. While he weighs around 25 pounds, that seems to be a great weight for him. He is not a fat pug. Although he doesn't like his crate he does tolerate it and spends time there while I'm at work and also at night. He loves going wherever I go and would make someone a great companion. He also gets along great with my dogs. No food or space aggression. He will make someone a great little pug. He is loving being a spoiled pug and doesn't seem to remember life held anything but the best in his past. If Rocco is the man for you dont let him get away!!!

Sheba Louise (# 741) is a 9 year old female pug. She has a sweet, feminine face and a very calm demeanor. Her favorite pastime is napping on the couch on a soft pillow or blanket. This big girl (27 lbs) likes to be comfortable! She also loves to give kisses and will certainly keep your lap warm.

Sheba Louise recently received a dental because she wants to look her best when she meets her new family. She also had a mass removed from one of her ears and more details about this will be provided to her forever family. Is that you?

If you’re looking for double the pug fun, look no farther than Darmha (#1215) and Buddha (#1216), litter mates born on 12/1/2000. These two pugs have been together their entire life and never leave each other’s side. For this reason, Darmha and Buddha will be placed into a home where they can live out the rest of their lives together. Darmha is a 20-pound girl and Buddha weighs in at about 24 pounds. A local shelter in Wisconsin contacted KPR after the pair was brought in after their beloved family lost their home. The pair is very loving and follows their foster mom everywhere. Both dogs are housebroken and are a complete joy.

Ozzie (KPR #1122) is your typical pug, yet not totally typical because he’s a Bugg! He’s potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, will follow you wherever you go and will give kisses on command! Ozzie loves to jump for joy when you come home, and is always happy to see you with his tail wagging. All of his physical features are that of a pug, except for his fur, which is black with fawn woven in to give him this cool brindle look, which is the Boston Terrier in his background. Ozzie is picky with other dogs, so he needs to be the only dog or the top dog in the household. He’s a total lover boy though, loves to sit on your lap, curl up next to you in bed, and his fuzzy fur will keep you warm in the long cold winter nights. Ozzie is only 5, so he's past that puppy stage and has plenty of love to give, and would love to find his furever home soon!

Hello, my name is Precious (KPR #1110) and I’m a 6-year old female pug. The nice people at KPR took me in after my family could no longer care for me. My foster mom says that I am absolutely the sweetest, most loving little girl there is. I’m a really good girl, completely housebroken and I never chew on anything I’m not supposed to. In fact, I spend most of my days cuddling with my foster pug sister or sitting on the couch if my foster parents are home. Like most pugs, I love to eat, so I’m on a diet right now to help me lose a couple pounds. My right hand is a bit out of whack – basically it bends funny when I walk or sit too long. The vet told my foster mom that this is nothing that causes me pain. I don’t even notice it, because I can run, jump, and go up and down stairs with no problem. All in all, I’d make a great addition to any home. I love other dogs, I will tolerate cats if I have to, and kids are no problem. I don’t need to be crated and will behave myself if I’m left alone all day. I’m happy to sleep on my bed next to yours, but I’d love it even more if you’d let me sleep with you like my current foster parents do! At the end of the day, I just want a forever family that has lots of love to give and will appreciate the undying love and pug kisses I have to offer in return.

Meet Baxe the Bugg (KPR #1420)! Baxe comes to KPR after his family made the difficult decision to give him up as they no longer had time for him. This 7 year old Pug/Boston Terrier mix has a gorgeous brindle coat. His foster mom says that he is a very sweet little boy, very docile and very cute. We think that Baxe would prefer a quiet home as he can be on the timid side at first. Baxe loves to go for walks, being outside or sitting on your lap, hanging out. While Baxe will greet the neighbor’s dog with a friendly bark and will be sure to notify you if the doorbell rings, Baxe is not a barker. Baxe does his business outside, but his foster mom keeps a belly band on him while she is at work. Baxe’s foster mom says that he has good manners and is a very loving boy. At the end of a long day you will find him curled into a tiny ball at the foot of your bed.

Ryder ( KY #1127) is a 6 month old puppy that is full of life and energy Born April 18th 2012 this little boy had a rough start to life. unknown to his first family he was born with a liver shunt so his body wasn't getting rid of toxins properly. When he started to act sick, his first people surrendered him to KPR to give him a chance at life. They couldn't afford the medical care he needed and without KPR he would not have a chance to live past his first birthday.. KPR got him the surgery he needed and now we are hoping he will be able to live a normal healthy life. Ryder has never had any idea he was so sick. He loves to play and explore the world! He gets along with dogs his size but is a little scared of big dogs at first. Once he knows the dog he doesn't care how big or small, he just wants to PLAY!. He doesn't understand why the cats in his foster home don't want to play and just keeps trying.  Ryder loves people and thinks everyone was put on this earth to play with him. We are still working on housebreaking but he is doing really well. He is clicker trained and knows sit, place and touch. We are working on leave it and wait. He is crate trained. His best friend in the whole world is his bed and he will drag it around the house like a security blanket. Ryder is currently healthy and ready to be adopted.  He does require daily medication and prescription food and will require periodic tests to make sure his liver is still functioning quickly. Is Ryder the puppy to make your home complete?

Zelda (KPR #1424) is a very smart girl that is enjoying her new life outside of the puppy mill. Zelda, who is around 5-6 years old, has been spending her days observing her other canine foster friends, even trying to lift her leg to pee! She enjoys playing with all sorts of dog toys, but hasn’t quite figured out playing with people [but is eager to do so]. Zelda interacts very well with the children in the home and is receptive to people of any age or gender approaching her. Her potty-training continues to improve day by day. We think Zelda may be blind in one eye, but you would never know it. Zelda is a very vocal little girl – she whines when you ask her if she wants to go outside, she barks for breakfast/treats and when you come home and sings when something exciting is happening. Some of her sounds are rather amusing! If you’d like to add Zelda to your family, please fill out an application today!

Before coming to KPR, Belle [#1251] spent her days in a pen with limited human contact having litters of puppies. This sweet 5 year old pug girl is shy around ‘new’ people, but she is quickly learning that people can be trusted. Belle follows her foster dad around the house and loves to lounge in his lap. She enjoys playing fetch and is very active. Belle enjoys playing with the foster’s other dog, a black lab. Since Belle was kept in a pen, she is still working on potty training. As long as Belle gets to go outside on a regular basis, she has had very few accidents. She only stays in her crate when left at home alone. Belle is extremely sweet and would make a great addition to any family!

Polly (#1427) is an adorable 5-6 year old female who was found as a stray and taken to a local Humane Society. For unknown reasons, Polly is missing her left eye, however, she seems to be completely unaware of her handicap and this doesn’t stop her from enjoying life. Her foster family states that she has really “come out of her shell” since she’s been with them and that she is a very happy little girl. Polly is an absolute “people pug”…where people are - that’s where you’ll find her! She loves to curl up on your lap or lay right next to you, and definitely enjoys being held or a good belly rub. Polly is up-to-date on all shots, spayed, and housebroken. She sleeps in bed at night with members of her foster family, usually being the last one out of bed in the morning (she enjoys taking time to ease into the day!) Polly walks on a leash well and gets along with others (dogs of all sizes and ferrets). Polly likes to spend her days just being around her foster family. She is well mannered and a total “dolly”....even though her foster family calls her Polly! Wouldn’t you just love to give her the forever home she deserves?

My name is Wallace (KPR #1423) and I am about 5-6 years old. I came into rescue in very bad shape from a puppy mill. I had an abscess on my foot and really bad cloudy eyes. The nice people at rescue have gotten me medical attention and I am feeling so much better. I am very shy but very sweet. My foster mom says I am doing really well at my social skills and potty training, but I still have a long way to go. I want a forever home that I can love and who will be patient and work with me. I love to follow my foster mom around and would love to do the same with my new family.

Penny (KPR #1117) is two years old; weighs 18 lbs; likes walks, playing with stuffies, playing chase with her foster dad. Crate and house trained.  Penny was not well socialized (pretty much just used for breeding, it seems) when she came to me but is making progress. She's coming out of her shell but is still fairly shy with strangers. Appears to be pretty good with other dogs - not sure about cats. She's very quiet and only barks when someone comes to the door.  She does NOT like to be apart from her owner when she knows they are home (like being in the yard by herself for more than a few minutes or being in another room). She does fine in her crate throughout the day when I'm at work.  Penny needs an attentive and consistent family who she can trust.

George (KY#1129) George is 3 1/2yrs. Very handsome! Sweet as can be. Gets along with everyone. Sleeps in the kennel with no problem. He loves to jump up onto your lap. Very loving. His eyes light up when he hears a squeaky toy. George was an owner surrender due to the economy and he cant wait for his new family to come take him home forever!. He's going to be an awesome guy for someone!

Pudge (#1103) is between 3-4.
