Moogie (# 565) is a loving 7 month old apricot male. He's on the larger side, weighing almost 25 lbs, but can turn on a dime and loves running around outside. He is extremely affectionate, loves stuffed squeaky toys, and has a nice collection of chewy bones that he likes to play with. He came to KPR from a very loving home that had to surrender him because his owner’s medical condition prevented her from taking full care of him. He is in great health, up to date on all shots, and has been neutered. Moogie is 98% housebroken, is crate trained, and knows basic training skills (sit, down, shake).

Adopted - December, 2008

Charlie (# 660) is estimated by the vet to be approx. 1 year old.  After being rescued from a shelter, Charlie is on the road to a new life. He is getting some extra food and attention because he is underweight.. You can see his ribs, pelvis, and the bones in his feet. He weighs 15.5 lbs and is fairly tall. While food aggressive at the moment, he is becoming less aggressive as time passes. He may just need to know that food will be coming day after day.

He is up to date on all of his shots and tests now and has no known medical issues. His fosters are working on housebreaking and tell us he does well with training pads and loves to be outside.

He is definitely still a puppy because he wants to play, play, play…and play some more. He naps occasionally and kisses as much as he can. He’s also good about chewing hands and feet and pawing or barking when he is not getting attention. He is good with cats, except when he wants to play and they are confused by his behavior then he barks and chases them. He doesn’t try to hurt them.

Charlie prefers to sleep in the big bed with his foster, the other pugs, and cats. He will nap on the floor (carpet) or sometimes he will hang out in a dog bed.

Miss Priscilla or Miss Priss (# 554) is an eight month old bundle of energy. Her family was moving out of state and didn't want to take her with them, so they surrendered her to Animal Control. Fortunately for this little pug, Animal Control contacted KPR.

Miss Priss is still very much a puppy and LOVES to play and run. She weighs around 12 pounds. She can climb a low baby gate and needs to be watched closely when outside in a fenced area because she has a tendency to climb out unless she is kept occupied. So far this has not been a problem for the foster home. She also loves to cuddle up with you while you're watching TV at night. She ignores the cat. She gets along great with the foster’s human 1.5 year old grandson. She gets along good with other dogs, but tends to aggravate an older dog so a home with younger, more energetic dogs would be ideal. She plays wonderfully with her foster brother, but annoys her foster sister with her playfulness. She loves to climb up on the back of the couch and survey her domain. The foster home is working on potty training. She is doing well, following the lead of her foster brothers and sister. In fact, she is catching on quickly and hasn't had an accident in the house for several days. Prissy just wants to love and be loved in return. Her foster says, “She is absolutely one of the sweetest little gals I have ever met.”

Adopted - December, 2008

The vet thinks Mollie (# 557) is a Pug/Min Pin Mix and it shows in her athleticism. The vet estimates she is around 2 years old, but her foster parents tell us she is very "puppy-like" in her playfulness.  This energetic girl sails easily over a three foot baby gate. She is very cute and has a bobbed tail. She is housebroken and will do her “business” when given the verbal cue word: “busy”. Chew toys and fetch are two things that bring her joy. When leaving her alone for any length of time it is best to crate her because she loves to find things to chew.

Mollie would be happiest in an active household where she has the opportunity to be the Alpha dog. A home with kids old enough to know how to be gentle and not tease her would be ideal. She will follow her master around the house and always wants to be right next to people when they are home. At the end of the day when she has played hard, she will climb up in your lap or lay next to you on the couch. She likes to snuggle in bed at night to sleep under the covers at your feet.

Adopted - December, 2008

Toby (# 558) will make a great little pet for someone. He is 4 years old and well potty trained.  He will scratch at the door or go to the door and then look back at you to signal he needs to go out. This little guy is quiet, but likes to play…especially with adults. He is a little shy with kids, but getting more comfortable being around them. He gets along great with the foster’s other 3 dogs.

Toby loves to be outside and go for a long walk with his fosters every day. At night, he sleeps in his crate without a sound, except puggy snoring!

Adopted - December, 2008

Rocky (# 562) is 16 months old and was surrendered to KPR by a concerned member of the owner’s family.. This pug’s story is so heartbreaking because while he is getting excellent care now…well, he just seems to be searching for something. His foster tells us that he can run really fast and almost got away from her and her husband after a walk one day when they were removing his collar. He loves to go for walks.

Unlike most pugs, he isn't a big eater and doesn’t really care for treats. At meal time he eats very slowly. His foster will coax him to eat, but says he always eats his two meals every day. He gets along great with the other 4 dogs in his foster home. He is friendly with dogs and people. We have been told that he grew up with cats and loves them, but there are no cats in his foster home. At night he will lay around his foster dad’s neck. He is certainly a snuggle pug and will even lie on your chest or lap or at your feet. He just enjoys being close and having company!

Rocky was recently neutered and is also now up to date on all of his shots. His foster parents have been spoiling him with a new collar, leash, harness, toys, etc. He also just got a large new crate that he sleeps in at night now. The first night he was a little whinny, but he adapted quickly and so the next night he went in, went to sleep, and never made a sound.

Adopted - December, 2008

Suzy (# 628) and Jack (# 629) are a pair of bonded pugs looking for a home to call their own. These cuties were surrendered to KPR after their owner realized he didn't have the time to devote to them anymore. Their foster home says they are an outstanding pair of pugs - they love to be loved and return it two-fold. They are playful and love to play with kids and dogs alike. Given the chance in a forever home, they will give years of unconditional love and enjoyment.

Jack is a 1.5 year old cuddle bug weighing 16 pounds. His foster home says Jack is exactly what you expect from a pug - a playful, loving companion. Jack is housebroken and enjoys sleeping in his foster home's bed. He is great with kids and other dogs. Jack does have a large scar on his back which the vet believes may have been a burn from a car exhaust (Jack spent most of his time at work with his former owner at an auto shop). The scar does not bother him and does not detract in anyway from his cuteness. Jack came to KPR with Suzy and he does best when she is around. They are constant companions and are always at each others side.

Suzy is a 5 year old 18 pound bundle of energy. She plays well with kids and other dogs and also loves to cuddle. Suzy sleeps with her foster human sister and has earned the distinction of being the latest sleeper in the home. She loves to nestle with whomever will give her lap space.

Adopted - December, 2008

This is Sophie (# 551), a playful, active pug puppy mix.. She is approx. 4-5 months old and working on crate and potty training. Somewhat of a chewer, her fosters are also working on that as well. She plays with other dogs and even gets along with the baby goat! Her puppy energy means that while Sophie loves to play with the kittens at her foster family's house, they keep an eye on her so the play doesn't get too rough. Same thing with kids, she gets along great with kids, but can be too much for the really little ones. The adult cats are just ignored by her.

Adopted - December, 2008

Prior to coming to KPR, Roscoe (# 631) was found roaming around a mill in South Central Indiana. The vet estimates Roscoe to be about 1 year old and his foster mom says he seems to have some puppy in him. Roscoe loves to play with dogs, toys and humans and ignores the cats. This friendly little boy has a curious nature and loves to go for walks. Roscoe's foster mom sums him up as a real sweetheart that loves to give kisses.

Adopted - December, 2008

Mickey (# 662) is an engaging little pug that has the best house manners. He's about 1 year old and is completely housebroken. We're quite certain that Mickey would make a delightful addition to any family, as he's such a loving little boy. He enjoys running around the backyard, playing with stuffed toys and sleeping with his favorite pillow nearby. Underweight and looking a bit shabby, Mickey wandered up in the yard of a dog lover who did her best to find him a home. When the Good Samaritan was unable to find him a family, they contacted a pug lover who then turned Mickey over to KPR. Mickey has Demodex and his currently undergoing treatment. His hair is growing in nicely in the areas that were most affected. Mickey does very well with kids, and other dogs and will be happy to snuggle up next to you each and every day and night! This sweet boy deserves a happy home. Can you find it in your heart to give Mickey the secure loving family he so richly deserves?

Daisy (# 552) is an 11 month old female. She has the most loving personality of any dog that we have ever met. She just wants to be loved by everyone. She jumps up, sits in your lap, stares at you with those big brown eyes, and your heart just melts. She is housebroken and sleeps in her crate at night. She gets along great with the other dogs, and is very curious of our pet bird. When we took her to the vet, she told us that Daisy is as pretty of a pug as you could ever get.

As you can tell from the information above that was provided by Daisy's foster family, it was love at first sight. We are happy to report that this little pug has already found her forever home and is being adopted by her fosters.

Adopted - December, 2008

Lucy (# 634) is a tiny little girl weighing an adorable 14 pounds. She is 4-years old and comes to KPR after she was rescued from a breeder. Her foster home is certain that she has spent her entire life in a kennel, as she gets very stressed when crated or placed in any kind of enclosure even briefly. Lucy really loves being around people and has not had a single accident since her foster home stopped kenneling her. She does have a pre-existing hip issue, which will be surgically repaired. Due to this, the vet indicates she may develop arthritis as she ages, but it won't keep her from living a normal life and can be easily managed by maintaining her weight and other arthritis management programs. This hasn't slowed Lucy down one bit and she does not appear to be experiencing any pain. Lucy adores her foster mom and wants to be by her side every single moment. She has gotten along really well with the other dogs and cats and is really starting to enjoy toys and treats. Lucy loves her new life being part of a family instead of breeding stock. We think that you will agree that this petite girl is simply adorable!

Hi, my name is Miley (# 643) and I am a super sweet 1.5 year old female pug. I love to go for walks on a leash and I really love to run like the wind in a fenced yard. I do have some minor skin allergies but those are a breeze. I have the typical behaviors of a younger pug - I'm active, playful, affectionate and very friendly. I like to sit in laps and also sleep with people (especially under the covers). I know no strangers - I love people of all ages, including kids, and other dogs. My foster mom says I don't really care for cats. I like to be groomed and don't even mind having my nails done. I am super smart - I know the commands of sit and down and I'm even housebroken and will bark when I need to use the bathroom. I am a very good little dog and think I'd be the perfect match for your family!

Charlie's Pals for Pugs!

Rita Casey

Charlie (# 539) is around 4 years old, neutered, and up to date on all his shots. Charlie’s foster mom says that he is the sweetest little pug she has ever met and a perfect gentleman. The only time he makes noise is when she must put him in his crate to go to work. He simply loves to be right by his human’s side at all times. He is very much a “Velcro Dog”. Charlie is housebroken, rides incredibly well in a car, and is truly wonderful with children.

Although Charlie is great with kids, he would probably do best in a home with older children who understand that he is completely blind because he can be easily frightened if approached too quickly. It is also preferable that he find a forever home without stairs because while he can learn to navigate and get around, he may stumble or fall down stairs. There are many informative websites with hints for helping blind dogs, so please check them out. Dogs are much better equipped than humans to deal with blindness since they rely so heavily on other senses, such as sounds and smells.

Charlie needs a home where he can be loved and spoiled like he deserves! Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with his sweet and gentle spirit so he is definitely going to make someone a terrific companion and TV buddy. Please do not let his blindness stop you from seeing that Charlie is a wonderful and handsome pug.

Meet two tiny girls, Emma (# 654) and Lola (# 655). They weigh in at a petite 10-12 lbs each. This bonded pair of 4-5 year old females are calm and even tempered so they get along great with other dogs and kids. They are also in good health, housetrained, and incredibly well behaved. They enjoy walks, rides in the car, cuddling, and lots of attention…especially being rubbed and scratched! Their foster parents tell us that they enjoy sleeping in the bed with them, but that the two pugs also like comfy dog beds.

Hi, everyone! My name is Nautica (# 344). I am a beautiful, male brindle pug mix and I am 8 years old. The vet thinks I may be mixed with Boston Terrier.  I was very ill, but KPR rescued me and made sure I got the medical care I needed.  I am mostly blind and will need daily eye drops for the rest of my life.  But, other than that, I am doing great!  I get along very well with other dogs, but I am not house broken.  My foster Mom and Dad are working with me on that! I love to be near humans all the time and cry when you leave me in a room alone. I do not like to sleep in a crate, I want to be near you in your bed. I need an extreme amount of TLC. I will make someone a very loving companion.

Smokey (# 541) is a pug mix, possibly a Chug (Chihuahua & Pug). She weighs in at a slender 18 lbs, but this little girl loves to eat! She has been to the vet where she was given a clean bill of health and brought up to date on all her shots. The vet estimated her to be around 2 years old. This little dog is great with cats, dogs, kids, and even house guests. She is good in different situations from bath time to people visiting to taking walks or riding in the car. She really enjoys walks and will potty outside, but her favorite thing to do is go “bye bye”. She gets excited and absolutely loves to ride in the car. This sweet dog has her foster parents wrapped around her paw and gets to sleep in bed next to her humans.

Adopted - October, 2008

Trevor (# 492) is a spunky 1 year old boy weighing in at 11 pounds. His foster home says he is everything a pug should be - he's cute, sweet, snuggly and loves everyone he meets. Since he's still a pup, he's got a lot of puppy energy for play and then crashes asleep at the end of the day. Trevor is crate trained and will sleep there at night but he really prefers to snuggle up under the blankets with his foster parents. He is working hard on his potty skills and is ready for his new family to take him home.

Adopted - October, 2008

Meet Bubbles (# 616), a 3 year old female "Bug" (Boston Terrier/Pug mix). Bubbles came to KPR mainly because her owners could no longer afford her. She is a little skinny right now, but her foster home is working to get Bubbles to her correct weight. Bubbles is a very loving girl and gets along with most dogs once introduced properly. She gets along great with kids and likes to chase cats given the opportunity, but will stop once the cats hide. Bubbles is housebroken and crate trained. A baby gate won't stop this little girl - she can scale right over the top! Bubbles loves to run and play but does like to steal toys from other dogs.

Adopted - October, 2008

Suzie Q (# 652 ) & Frank (# 653 ) would be devastated without each other. Suzie weighs in at 18.5 lbs and Frank at 21 lbs and they are in excellent health. Suzie Q & Frank are 3 years old.  They are a bonded pair and they exhibit typical sibling behavior by rough housing one minute and then loving each other the next. They watch out for one another and always know the others whereabouts.

Frank is extremely lovable and will sit on your lap for hours if you let him. Suzie is more adventurous and is really cute with other dogs. She makes sure all dogs in the household are aware of her presence by barking at them to keep them in line whenever she thinks they are misbehaving. Both pugs love to give kisses... They also both love to run when outside, which is why their foster strongly recommends their forever home have a fenced yard. They will make someone great companions and would be a wonderful addition to any family.

Henry's
Pals for Pugs!

Erin Guess

& Little Ollie

Elizabeth Best

Henry ( # 369 ) is a very laid back Gentleman whose age is between 5 and 6 years old. Henry was born with an underdeveloped right eye, which has no vision capabilities, but he gets around fine without it. Henry prefers to spend his days lounging around in his foster Dads recliner looking out the window or watching Television.

As the evening moves in, Henry will casually move over to the big bed where he settles in for the night. Every once in a while, he will feel like a game of tug of war with his furry foster siblings, but for the most part, he is a couch potato. Henry is easy to win over. All you need do is give him a few vigorous belly rubs throughout the day and he will be your friend for life. Henry requires inexpensive eye drops to protect the vision of his good eye and he is very polite about having them put in.

Jaynie (# 623) is estimated to be 3-4 years old.  She is a very gentle, loving spirit that just wants her humans to love her as much as she loves them. She gets along well with other dogs and loves squeaky toys, treats and a chew roll. One of her favorite games is to get her squeaky toy and shake it in front of the other dog's faces to entice them into a tug of war match. Jaynie is doing well with her crate training and is very eager to please. This smart little girl is also doing well with her housetraining. Her foster parents patience has been paying off and indicate that she is very cooperative.

Adopted - October, 2008

Alli (# 626) is a very sweet little 3-4 year old pug girl who has so much love to give. She gets along well with her foster dog brothers and sisters and is curious about the cat. She doesn't chase the cat, only sniffs. Alli loves people, big or small and loves to cuddle. Her foster home continues to work with her on housebreaking and does well when taken out frequently. Alli loves to go for walks and car rides.

Adopted - October, 2008

Introducing Tori (# 546), a precious petite 12-pound pug. Tori is approximately 2-3 years old and recently gave birth to five pups in a shelter. Sadly, only two of her babies survived. Tori is a people pug and thrives when she spends quality time with her foster family. She walks well on a leash and likes to take car rides.

Adopted - October, 2008

Missy (#435) is a well-mannered sweetheart that is about 4 years old. She is housebroken and gets along with other dogs and cats. Missy does have a skin allergy that requires regular baths and hydrocortisone spray but is very healthy otherwise. Missy can be timid at times and can also be fiesty when she feels like it. Like most pugs Missy loves to eat and is always available to help clean out her companions food bowls of leftovers.

Prince Harlem, aka Harley (# 618), is a wonderful 6 year old black pug. He has no serious health issues and is at a good weight of 19 pounds. Harley does have floating knee caps, which don’t bother him in going up or down steps. He has had no accidents in his foster home and is crate trained. Harley gets along well with other dogs, ignores cats and does wonderful with children. He has been with a 20-month old that likes to wrap her arms around Harley and cuddle with him on the floor. He has also done well with the older children next door – he likes to run and play with them in their yard. Harley enjoys short walks on his leash and loves to go on car rides. At his foster home Harley is very laid back and wants to be near you. He really enjoys having his belly scratched and loves his special playtime.

Adopted - October, 2008

Introducing Chip (# 635), an adorable, sweet Bug (Boston Terrier / Pug mix). Before coming to KPR, Chip’s name was Quazzy, but his foster family calls him Chip because he looks so much like his brother Pipsqueak (also a KPR dog) – he’s a chip right off the old block!

Chip just turned 2 in July and he weighs in at a perfect 17 pounds. As you can see by his pictures, this little guy is as cute as a button! Chip is a little unsure in new situations, but warms up quickly. His tail never stops wagging and he is an all-around happy dog. Chip is super sweet – he loves to cuddle, loves to be petted and loves to give lots of kisses. He recently started playing with toys and adores other dogs. This little guy doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body. He will chase cats if given the opportunity but will stop with a firm no. Chip is learning to walk well on a leash.

Hi – my name is Mogli (# 644) and I’ve had quite an adventure! The vet says I’m about 5 to 6 years old and I am a lover boy. Somehow I ended up at a shelter in the Indianapolis area. When the shelter people scanned me they discovered I had a chip and belonged to someone in Fort Wayne, almost 140 miles away! When my owner couldn’t be located, the nice people at KPR bailed me out of the shelter. Under KPR’s care I got all my shots, was neutered and also treated for ear, eye and skin infections. I feel a lot better now and am enjoying my new adventure of being in a loving, stable environment. My foster family says that I am a typical pug – I love to cuddle with people and like to stay close by. I am crate trained and love sleeping with my foster family. I am a laid back sort of fellow and am learning some basic commands. I have already worked my way into my foster family’s heart and they say that I would make a great companion - I have terrific manners and want to please.

Ricky's Pals for Pugs!

Edward Shertz
Nathan & Tami Hoy

Hi - my name is Ricky (# 401) and I am 6 years old. I am a healthy and energetic dog who loves to play with everyone, especially my 10 year old human foster brother. He takes me for walks, which I love a lot. I also love to sleep on the bed at night, but I am also crate trained. I am completely potty trained and love to go for car rides. I get really excited if I get to sit in the front seat of the car. I love to cuddle and play with stuffed animals. I also like to go outside and run around in the back yard. I do great with kids of all ages and get along with the other dogs in my foster family.

Adopted - October, 2008

Pixie (# 448) was turned over to KPR because her breeder could not afford her medical care, and the vet told her that her only other option was to put Pixie to sleep. Thank goodness the breeder found KPR! Pixie had bi-lateral congenital elbow luxation, in other words, she was born with both of her front elbows out of joint. She could not stand up straight, or walk on her paws like she should. Instead, she walked on her elbows or would hop like a bunny, with her paws facing sideways.

UPDATE January 30, 2008 - Pixie is doing great, growing like a weed, although a rather small weed at that, but still ... she's growing. She came through her last surgery well ... that operation straightened out the bones in her right forearm, finally allowing her to walk on both front feet.

Bruno (# 545) is a happy-go-lucky 3 year old boy who loves to romp and play with the gang. He gets along great with other dogs, but does like to chase cats. He isn’t sure what to do when they stop running and so he doesn’t hurt them. He has the cutest personality and genuinely seems to be listening to every word when humans are speaking to him. He is learning to potty outside and fortunately, he learns quickly. He will do almost anything for a treat and already has his foster family wrapped around his paw.

Bruno is a pug mix with unusually short front legs that really add to his cuteness without slowing him down…although he may require a boost now and then, such as getting into a car. He also has some really adorable markings that include a white chest and little white paws. Bruno loves belly rubs and back scratches.

Adopted - September, 2008

Buddy (# 607) is a very happy 2 year old boy that loves to play with soft toys and chew on his bone. Buddy is your typical "velcro dog" that loves to follow his people from room to room. His foster home continues to work on his housetraining and have found that belly bands and crating work well. Buddy loves to sit by the window and watch the world go by. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to take a ride to the pet store and have kids pet him.

Little Man Nicholas (# 540), who is estimated by the vet to be 9 years old, was abandoned by his previous owners who tossed him out the window of their moving vehicle. They couldn't even be bothered to stop the car in order to dump him to fend for himself. Luckily for this little pug there was a Good Samaritan nearby who witnessed this appalling action and stopped to help him. Little Man was shaken, sore, and scratched up, but otherwise fine considering this terrible trauma he suffered.

His foster mom has taken him to the vet and so he is up to date on his vaccinations. He had a skin problem but with the meds the vet gave him this is clearing up nicely. The vet has also recommended a monthly dose of Rimydl.

Little Man Nicholas is a very patient pug & is good at bath time. He likes chew bones and any kind of treats. Like most pugs, he has a healthy appetite and enjoys being held and loved on. He potties outside and hasn't had any accidents inside. He sleeps in a crate and his foster mom says he will get in his kennel by himself (with the persuasion of a treat) and while he usually cries a little at first once the lights are turned out he is quiet until morning. He gets along great with all of the other dogs in the house. He is a little skittish around new people, but warms up fast. His foster mom says he is an absolute sweetheart and deserves to have someone love him.

Adopted - September, 2008

Jenny (# 542) is a 7 month old energetic puppy that enjoys running and playing with toys. Her foster parents say that she is incredibly smart, doing very well on potty training, and has even learned to perform some tricks. She is crate trained and does excellent sleeping in it at night. While Jenny strives to be an Alpha dog, she responds very well to discipline and gets along well with other dogs. She is great with children and would make a wonderful addition to any family.

Adopted - September, 2008

Sheeba (# 612) is a 2-3 year old female Bug, Pug and Boston Terrier mix, that is full of life and loves nothing more than to play and have fun. Her foster mom says you can’t help but to love this little girl. She is a very happy dog who loves to be doted on. Sheeba gets along well with other dogs and will chase cats given the opportunity, but she does not mean them harm. Sheeba is an all-around great dog - maybe she would be the perfect fit in your home?

Jack (# 550) is such a cute little fella that when asked for a photo for this site, his foster mom sent us 18 to choose from. She said he is absolutely adorable and she couldn’t quit snapping pictures of him. We hope this great personality shines through the photo we chose. He is such a PUPPY! It is believed that he is under 1 year old. He is doing good with potty training. He gets along great with kids, cats, and pugs. Jack sleeps in a gated room on a doggy bed with his foster brother, Little Man. They are great roomies and very comfortable together, but Little Man will soon be moving out since he is probably getting adopted. We sure hope Jack soon finds a home of his own as well. He certainly deserves it.

Jack is very loving, playful, and curious. His foster mom thinks he may still have his puppy teeth since when he is playing or trying to get your attention, he will “play-bite”. His foster mom is hoping to break him of this habit before he is adopted. Jack eats slow and hasn’t yet learned that he needs to finish off his food before walking away from the bowl. Although, the “vulture pugs” in the foster home are more than happy to clean up his bowl for him…foster mom is working on this too!

When asked for more information about Jack to share on the website, his foster mom told us, “Jack is a wonderful little boy! I want to keep him SO bad! I just haven’t figured out how…4 pugs of my own was the limit, but Jack is so precious.” This means that if you are reading this and searching for an adorable little pug puppy of your own…well, you had better fill out the adoption papers on this one soon before his foster mom decides she cannot part with him.

Molly (# 527), 2 yrs. old and Percy (# 528) (aka Pugsley), 3 yrs. old have been together since Molly was 8 weeks old. Both are 17 pound bundles of joy. They love to take walks, ride in the car, and play in the yard. They love people, constantly want a lap or a hug and vie for attention like human siblings. They get along great with their foster family's Pug and lab/shepherd mix.

Molly will cuddle all day and has a "purr" when she's contented; Percy loves to cuddle too but is more independent and will explore on his own, but always comes back for a hug, kiss and a cuddle. They both curl up around their foster parents' necks like babies and are so lovable and loving. They run up and down steps like pros, love to lie on the cool green grass under the trees, are crate trained and sleep in it together at night, and spend all day very close to each other. Molly grooms Percy all the time. Percy grooms her a little too but guys aren't so into clean ears and faces! They lived with a cat and three birds, but we have no info on how they all got along together.

Ernie (# 543) is a black, male pug weighing in at 18 lbs and is soon to celebrate his 7th birthday. His foster parents brag about his potty habits and are proud that he was able to fit right into the household and get along great with the other dogs. He also has never had any accidents in their house or in his crate. His fosters tell us that he doesn't like to be crated and so he will whine and bark for a bit at first, but will settle down. They only crate him when they are not home.

Ernie is an affectionate little guy who just loves to be near his foster parents all the time. In fact, Ernie follows his foster dad all around the house and even tags along with him when he goes outside. He loves sleeping with his foster mom and dad.

Ruby (# 536). You can't look at Ruby without smiling! She is just incredibly sweet and loving to everyone she meets. Even the other dogs in the home are smitten with her.

Sadly, this 8 year old full figured girl was surrendered when her owner was placed in a nursing home. Her foster family is giving her some much needed attention by getting her treatment for eye infections and once this is cleared up she will only require the simple task of daily eye drops. The vet has also placed her on a diet to lose 8 lbs, but don't let her size fool you, she is still very active. Her foster family reports that this nosey pug will even follow you from room to room just to see what you are doing before going back to relax on the couch.

Ruby has won the hearts of her fosters and they say that she will be a wonderful addition to anyone's family. Ruby is housebroken and is being described as a beautiful pug, inside and out.

Maggie (# 319) has one of the most pronounced personalities in a dog ever seen! She is a 6 year old female with the energy and warmth of a puppy. She LOVES attention from anyone and gets along well with children and other dogs. While she was not around cats for an extended period of time (just a weekend), she did not try to hurt them, but was instead just curious. Maggie is a little chubby and will always be because of her prescription diet that is high in fat; she must have this in order to keep her bladder crystals away. She must only have carrots and watermelon aside from her doggy food. She is housetrained and lets you know when she needs something with an adorable purring sound. Her favorite spot is anywhere she can be touched and have a human friend close by! She is a perfect companion!

Louie (# 538) is a real rags to riches story. He was rescued at the 11th hour from a shelter that was about to euthanize him and now he is in a home filled with toys and love being pampered by foster parents. Now all that is missing in his life is you.

This 7 year old pug has been described as the perfect gentleman. He is intelligent and very well mannered. His potty habits are impeccable. This smart pug knows most common commands (sit, stay, down, come) and is very obedient. His favorite things are a scratch behind the ears and a good tummy rub…oh, and marshmallows! We are told that he just loves treats!

Louie has been neutered and is up to date on all of his shots. He is a happy, healthy pug looking for someone who will love him for the rest of his life.

Nella May (# 549) is a very happy girl! You'd never know she's 3 years old, as she is as energetic and playful as a puppy. She already loves her "sisters" - a 7 yr. old Jack Russell terrier Jasmine, an 18-year old Persian BB and a 6 year old Siamese mix Zephyr - and will cuddle right up to nap with any of them that will let her! She also loves her chew toys and FOOD!!!! Because she's part terrier, she handles stairs and running (she's gone on a 3-mile jog with her "mom") with little effort. She loves going on walks with Jasmine and meeting the neighbors and their doggies. She makes friends quickly and is very trusting. She enjoys bath time and has even been swimming in our pool (with her life jacket on, of course!). Now that she's settling into her new home, she's doing well with housebreaking. She is crate trained and does excellent sleeping in it at night. She is happy-go-lucky and is very happy to be "home". (Note: Her foster family decided to adopt her immediately.)

Meet Gus (# 544) , he is a 4 ½ year old black pug who weighs about 24 lbs. He likes to play and loves affection. He has not met a person that he didn’t like and is very tolerant of his 6 month old foster brother who LOVES to crawl all over him all day long. He is a very gentle soul who just wants to be near his person. He likes walks and loves his treats. He would eat all day long if you would let him and does tend to get whiny when dinner is running late. He is potty trained and even likes his crate, if you need him to hang out there for a while. He knows basic commands like “sit” and “stay” and will even “stay” with a treat in front of his face. Gus is also an amazing acrobat. He could stand on his back legs all day long for the right incentive. He would be a fantastic addition to any family as he is truly a wonderful boy.

Tink (# 537) is a 10 month old apricot pug who was rescued from a shelter. She was accused of biting a child on a bike and as a result was scheduled to die; however, details on this situation were sketchy. The child “bitten” had no visible injuries and shelter staff were skeptical about the report. A worker kept this puppy at her home and after no concerns about aggression and certainly not viciousness, the shelter surrendered the puppy to KPR. Tink’s foster parents report that aggression has not been a major issue since living with them and that while Tink seems afraid of bicycles and has barked and even growled at people on occasion that they have been able to quickly correct any unwanted behavior. The foster parents are falling in love with this sweet pug and report that she is responding well to training. She appears to be a puppy that just needed some guidance to grow into a healthy, balanced dog.

She is crate trained and housetrained, with only a few accidents, probably because she is still learning how to alert her foster parents when she needs to go potty. She knows the command 'sit' and is working to learn other new commands. She has the 'chase' part of fetch down, but hasn't quite figured out she needs to bring it back to keep the game going. She's very curious and loves to hunt bugs in the yard and stretch out in the grass on a warm day. She enjoys cuddling and would probably be happy if the only thing she ever did was sleep in your lap. As for walks, unless you intend on going on one, you might want to spell the word out because just saying ‘walk’ is enough to send her running for the leash.

Tink is a great dog but would probably fit best in a family without children until her behavior is better understood. She has done very well with the foster family's 7-year-old cat and has no problem with other dogs.

Little Guy (# 630 ) is your typical 2-year old male pug -- cute, cuddly, sweet tempered and affectionate. He loves treats, he loves toys and loves to follow you around. Little Guy was picked up by animal control and now he's on his way to a new life. His foster mom says Little Guy is extremely well behaved and is house trained. He is non-aggressive and likes using the doggie door. Little Guy currently weighs in at 17 pounds and is just as perfect as can be. His foster mom summed him up as follows: "Little Guy is such a good little dog that he is almost boring..."

My name is Bam Bam (# 601) and I am a fun-loving 4 year old female. I love to sleep under the covers at night, play with stuffed animals and go for long walks. I have a blast playing with the kids in my foster family and get along wonderfully with my foster dog family as well. I am completely house broken and have no health problems. I'm not particularily fond of eating with the other dogs but usually I mind my own business. I sleep with my foster parents all night long and I have the loveliest pug snore!

Adopted - August, 2008

Jessy (# 519) is a 6 yr old petite little girl that weighs about 14 pounds and is full of energy. We know nothing about her past, other than she was heavily bred and recently had a litter. She was dumped at a shelter after hours, apparently because she has demodex mange. She would have been euthanized within a couple of days if KPR had not taken her.

She gets along well with other dogs, but wants to be the boss. She loves stuffed toys and eats well. She would probably be best with a submissive male. We do not know about cats.

Adopted - August, 2008

Hi there! My name is Bocephus (# 358), but most people call me Bo or Bobo. I am estimated by the vet to be around 3-4 years of age. I get lonely when left alone so I would do best in a home that had another playful dog (I'm scared of cats). I am crate trained now and can do just fine up in one up to about 7-8 hours as long as I have something to keep me entertained (such as a toy). I have currently been updated on all of my shots and medical necessities as of July 2008. I have no current medical issues except for my allergies, but I'm a pug (what can I say?) and that's cured with a Benadryl wrapped in some cheese. I love to sleep in the bed with you and cuddle in your lap while you watch TV or type away at the computer. My foster parents say I have one heck of a personality and that everyone who meets me falls in love with me. I don't chew on furniture, clothes, or electrical cords; but I do think any random object lying around on the floor is a chew toy (pens, pencils, paper, etc.). I love to go on short walks and I am potty trained as long as I can go outside on a regular schedule. All in all, I have been moved around a lot and I really want to find my forever parents who can love me and cherish me just like everyone says I deserve to be.

Macy Lea (# 610) is a 5 year old petite female who is full of energy and kisses. She comes to KPR from a loving family whose husband deployed to Iraq and they no longer had the time to devote to her. Macy loves to be your shadow and follow you around all day. She is fully housebroken, leash & crate trained, and knows several commands: sit, stay, lay down, etc. In her foster home Macy lives with two foster brother puggies and a toddler and does exceptionally well with all of them! Macy is the biggest cuddle bug and loves to sleep in her foster mom and dad's bed every night under the covers. In her past Macy has had a few instances when she has nipped due to what is called "fear biting" but her foster mom reports that this has not happened since she's been in their home. She is protective of her food dish and when she has a rawhide bone. Macy Lea is a wonderful, sweet little girl looking for her forever home.

Hello there, my name is Lucy (# 529). I used to be known as Maggie but since I didn't respond to that my new humans named me Lucy, I like it much better. I lived with my old family for 8 years and then they decided that my hair was more than they could stand, so I went to this place with all these other guys and gals that looked like me, the humans called it Pugapalooza, and then I went home with my new humans! Anyway my new home is just perfect for me I get all the loving I can handle and then some! I never have accidents in the house and I will sit and speak for my treats, Cheerios...yummm! I am the sweetest puggie anyone could ever want and I am so happy to have found a place where I am appreciated for the gorgeous girl that I am! Thank you KPR for finding me my forever home!

Wink's Pals for Pugs!

Nate & Jenni Webb-Reynolds

Wink (#  520) is a handsome, comical boy who loves to be the center of attention. He is three years old, in perfect health and has plenty of energy. He is missing one eye, but this doesn't bother him, so please don't let it bother you! He gets along well with everyone and never met a stranger. He loves to be by your side, whether its for a game of catch or napping on the couch. He is a quick learner especially if it involves food! He is crate-trained but doesn't really want to go in-he wants to be with you! He walks on a leash but could use some practice. He is potty trained but will need some patient, consistent reminding before he is completely reliable inside. He loves to be outside and is not a nuisance barker, but he will let you know when company arrives. He has a sweet, eager to please personality who just yearns for love and attention. He would make anyone a darling companion and lifelong buddy.

Adopted - August, 2008

Mack (# 169) is a 4 year old bundle of personality, energy and love. He is happy at all times and sometimes it even seems that he is smiling when you look at him. This portly little guy could stand to lose a few pounds. In fact, his foster described his good looks as a miniature pot bellied pig, complete with the snorts…and lots of kisses thrown in. Mack loves to play hard, but equally loves nap time and snuggling on the couch. Favorite activities include dinner time, belly rubbing, kisses, and playing with toys. He gets along well with other Pugs so long as they don't mind his "wild and crazy" moments. Of course, he just loves all people and is eagerly awaiting that special someone to give him a forever home.

Adopted - August, 2008

Puddin (# 398) is an absolute sweetheart. He just turned 5 yrs old in March. I think he looks older, but once he sheds a few pounds, he'll look like the 5 yr old that he is. He is as good as gold. He is very loving and likes to stay close to his foster mom. He loves to sleep on the pillow by his foster mom's head, but he does need a little boost to get up on the bed. He has no problem with the stairs though. He loves stuffed animals and chew bones. And of course, FOOD! He does need to lose a few pounds, but he has been working on that.  He loves to be outside with his foster brothers. He has the sweetest mushy face! He would do great in any loving home.

Camille, Spanky & Olllie Traina

Ollie (# 531) is a 6-8 year old black pug, She is great with kids, babies, cats, and other pugs. She still plays sometimes but would like to lay around most of the time. She does have a tumor in her right eye that will need to be taken out prior to adoption, she also has some skin tags on her belly that might stay or go- they cause her no harm. She likes to hang out and watch the other dogs mostly, but she likes chew bones, stuffed animals, and having her tummy rubbed. She has dry skin, but her foster mom is working on that and it's already improving! She's great in her cage at night. She loves treats! She has good manners at feeding time, even with 4 other dogs! She wags her tail is always happy to greet you when you home. She doesn't seem to be a "lap dog" (yet) , but she does want to be close to you. She's a very sweet little lady. Perfectly behaved and no accidents inside.

Hello, my name is Ricky (# 532). I am almost 2 years old! I’m a pug in search of a forever home. You know that special place with lots of love and belly rubs every day. I love belly rubs! Oh, and kisses too! In my foster home, I like to rest on a pillow or sit in someone’s lap. I just want to be next to people. I like other pugs and small dogs. I even like cats…although at first I may be a bit scared when I meet a new cat. I am the kind of dog that likes to take short walks and I’m potty trained – I go outside! I think the car is fun to ride in and that the bed is the best place to sleep. As a well-mannered pug, I only want to make my people happy and receive attention. I have lots of kisses to give and all I want in return is love.

The Lindsey Crew

Prince Charming (#104) is approx. 7 years old. Prince gets along fine with everyone and loves to play with other dogs. He loves to go outside and “run wild” for a few minutes.  His other favorite activity is dinner time! Open your heart and home to Prince and he’ll show you what unconditional love is all about.

Chynna (# 512) is an extremely sweet pug. She's only 7 yrs old, but she has some premature gray. It only adds to her beauty. She loves to be in my lap and it doesn't matter who is already there. If I'm at my computer, she'll jump from the floor up into my lap without a second thought. She goes up & down the stairs like nobody's business. Her favorite game is to put one of her tennis balls into one of my shoes and spend HOURS trying to get it out. She has a stuffed animal that she loves to sleep with every night. She'll even get it in the evening when we're watching tv so that she can lay with it.  Chynna would do best in a home with no female dogs. She gets along great with her foster brothers though. She is crate trained and loves to sleep in her cage. She is house broken. Her vet says she's in great health and her 18 lbs is perfect for her. Chynna is a very sweet and loving little girl.

Bufurd's Pals!

Garnie Webb

Winkie (aka Buford) (# 522) is an 11 month old fawn boy. He only has one eye, and he lost one of his legs in a car accident as a puppy. This doesn't hold him back at all, and he isn't on any medicine or undergoing any continuing vet care. He is very sweet and well-behaved, and loves chasing tennis balls in the yard. He gets around very well- you really don't even notice that he has three legs! He gets along great with other pugs and cats. He does have a little puppy in him, and wants to play with everyone and everything, but he is extremely smart and catches on quickly. He is very good with pottying- he has only had one accident since being with us (and that was probably due to him adjusting to a new food). He has never had an accident at night and is GREAT in his crate for 8 hrs. at a time. He doesn't whine or cry. He's very loving and will sit on your lap and rub his head on your chest.

Billy Bob's Pals for Pugs!

Jennifer Sander
Carl Helman
Edward Shrtz

Brenda Jordan
Nathan & Tami Hoy

Billy Bob (# 456) came to KPR after his beloved owner was placed in a nursing home. Billy is 13.5 years 'young' and loves to spend his days lounging on the couch. He gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters and would probably get on well with older children, as he's more of a couch potato than a playmate. Billy is about 95% housebroken and is just as sweet as can be! He has had issues with kidney stones in the past and needs to be maintained on a special diet to ensure they don't return. If you have an empty spot on the couch, this special senior boy would be glad to fill it.

Rocky (# 619) is a 3-year-old 20-pound male who is full of life. This lively little guy loves to run and play in the yard and also likes to go on long walks. Rocky’s foster mom says he is an excellent walker on the leash and when he walks, he holds his head up high and trots like the proud and happy fellow that he is. Rocky has been a perfect gentleman in his foster home – he has had no accidents in the house and does fine when taken out regularly. Before coming to KPR, Rocky spent most of the day in a crate and he now just wants to be the center of attention. He loves his new life and being part of a loving family. Rocky’s foster home does not have cats or children, but they indicate he gets along well with the other pugs in the home. He loves to give kisses and will not hesitate to show you how much he loves you. When it comes to bedtime, he would prefer to cuddle up with you on the bed, but he will politely go into his crate when asked and sleep throughout the night without making a peep. Rocky is very good with baths and will stand in the bathtub very still until he is clean. He loves playing with toys and will be a great partner to play fetch with.

Hey everyone! My name is Chloe (# 377) and I'm what they call a Pek-a-Pug (Pekinese Pug Mix). I am 2 years old, but I still have a lot of puppy left in me. I came to KPR because my previous owners could no longer take care of me. I love playing with my foster brother and sisters, and have plenty of energy to keep up. I am a little curious about cats, but for the most part, I like to save my energy to play with my fellow canines. Even though my foster family doesn't have any children, I have had a blast with the ones who have come over to visit. I walk well on a leash, but also love to run around in my fenced back yard. I love to run around and play, but I will also stop to chew on a toy every once and a while. I have to be on special medicine because of my seizure disorder, Other than that, I'm healthy! Please consider letting me be a part of your family!

This is Sullie (# 399). She is 4 years old, completely housebroken, spayed, gets along great with kids and other dogs and she has no known health issues. Her previous owner had her since she was three months old, but recently started his own business and was having to crate Sullie for 16+ hours a day. He knew it wasn't fair to her so he surrendered her to KPR. Sullie's foster family fell in love with her and adopted her. Sullie loves to play fetch with stuffed toys, but hates rain and snow.

Adopted - July, 2008

Roxie (#184) was adopted in spring 2007 by a very loving older couple. The husband passed away and Roxie was wonderful company for the wife. When the her owner had to move to California, Roxie was surrendered back to rescue. The good news is that one of the surrendering owner's friends who knew and loves Roxie adopted her. Roxie loves her new Mommy and her new canine bro Toby. She also had a good chance of seeing her other Mommy if she gets back to Kentucky for visits.

Introducing Lily (# 606), a 5 year old fawn sweetie. Lily not only loves to ride in the car, but she also knows some simple commands such as no, sit, stay, outside, treat and kennel up. Lily loves to play but can sometimes be possessive of stuffed toys, but with supervision she does fine. She is crate trained and will often go into her crate just to relax. Lily loves to follow her humans will will even jump into the shower with you! She is great on a leash and loves to play outside. Lily is completely housebroken and would do well with a family where she can thrive on attention and love.

Johnny (#463) and Yoko (#464) are a bonded pair. Pugs come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes and Johnny is no exception. Johnny is a 4-5 year old pug that is a little larger than a normal pug in stance and has a bit of a longer snout. He is a big teddy bear who wants all the love you can give him plus more. Johnny gets along well with other dogs and children, however we do not recommend children under five due to his size and excitement. Since Johnny can jump over baby gates, he is crated when his foster family is away. Johnny loves to sleep in foster family's bed and sleeps upside down at times.

Yoko is approximately 6 years old and is a Pug / Chihuahua mix, more affectionately known as the "chug". Her color is absolutely beautiful and she has the softest coat. Yoko loves to crawl up and sleep with you. She gets along with most dogs, especially Johnny, however she will occasionally have issues with other female dogs in the house. Most of the time you will find Yoko curled up on the couch napping, keeping to herself. Yoko is crate trained and can be crated with Johnny.

Hi, my name is Roxi! (# 426) I am a sweet, loving and energetic 10 week old puppy, that my foster mom calls a Diamond in the rough. I was was rescued about a month ago from a kill shelter by a kind volunteer of another rescue who contacted KPR about me. I have Demodex, but since I have been with my foster family it is clearing up nicely and I am growing new hair! I weigh just over 5 lbs and I love to play with my toys and eat. My foster mom, dad and sister all tell me I am just the cutest thing, and we all love cuddle time. I am working on my potty training, but I know I will get the hang of that soon!

Lucy (# 393) is a very special, loving little girl. She is estimated by the Vet to be 6 - 8 years old.  Like all puggies, she, of course, lives to make me happy and wants to be in my lap or right next to me at all times. When I come home from work, she is jumping and yipping to say hello and that she missed me. That is always followed by lots of kisses. What makes her so special is that she has no eyes. She was apparently born without her left eye and developed severe glaucoma and a growth on her right eye. Her former owner(s) apparently could not care for her and luckily Kentuckianna Pug Rescue found out about her, rescued her, and arranged for the vet care that she needed. Her vet determined that the best course of treatment was to remove her right eye as well. You would never know it! Within a few short hours she found her way around our house and yard and hasn't missed a beat. She gets along great with her foster brother Pug Pax. They just follow each other and me everywhere.

Lucy is housebroken with routine attention, schedule, and trips outside. She does great staying home with Pax while I go to work. They sleep side by side at night and eat together like they are at a buffet. Lucy just wants to be loved and to give love. She's only been around a 9 month old baby so I can't say how well she manages children. She loved him though. He liked to pull her ears and she just gave him a face full of kisses. She never once misbehaved or reacted. She is very sweet, very loving, and very very special!

We call Emma (#611) our “miracle bug.” She was on “death row” at a shelter when KPR President, Amy Carpenter rescued her. She had been returned to a shelter three times because of her high-energy. When we met her, it was love at first sight. Emma energetically bounded into our lives and stole our hearts. In just the short time we have had her, she has charmed her new pug brother, Sir Bozworth (age 6) and two pug sisters, Penny (age 11), and Zoe (age 4). Boz has attention-deficit disorder and loves all of her boundless energy. She will play with him non-stop until he’s had enough and goes and hides from her. Sir Boz will share anything with her, except his food. Penny lets Emma romp all over her and even bite her ears and tail. Zoe doesn’t quite know what to make of her because she was always the baby. We love to hold her and look into her little face. Her eyes shine with happiness and she brings such joy to our family.

Emma began limping badly this past weekend and we took her to the vet. We discovered that one of her rear legs is ½ inch shorter than the others due to a previous knee injury. She may require surgery in the future. In the meantime, she isn’t letting that keep her down.

Welcome home, precious Emma! We love you unconditionally. No more “return to shelter” for you!

Gizmo (# 378) is a young (approx. 2 - 3 years old), action packed bundle of love! He spends his days playing with toys and other pugs, and taking naps! His favorite activities include: eating, giving kisses (big sloppy ones), playing with toys (he is not happy until the stuffing is gone from his stuffed toys), taking naps, getting his belly rubbed, and running around the yard like crazy!

Tootsie's Rescue Success Story and more photos!

Tootsie
(# 525) is a 3 year old female puggie that has a real zest for life. She has lived outdoors for the past year or so. Her owners wanted her to have a better life so they surrendered her to the rescue. She lost one of her eyes earlier this year due to an accident. She is very tiny and petite weighing in at around 12 pounds. She is very loving and loves to sit by you. If you don't pay her attention when she feels she deserves it, she will talk to you about it. Tootsie gets along great with kids, but is very excitable, so would probably be best not to be around very small children, as she may jump up on them and accidentally knock them down. She loves everyone and she totally ignores my cat. She gets along great with her foster pug brothers and sister. She loves to play fetch and will do this for as long as someone will play with her. Tootsie's previous owner said she was not housebroken, but she has not had an accident in my house yet. If kept on a schedule she should be fine with patience and love.

Hi my name is Theo (# 605) and I'm 2-3 years old. My best friend and I were picked up by Animal Control and brought to the shelter. When my owners called the shelter they came to pick up my buddy, but left me there. But that's ok, because some nice people pulled me out of the shelter and here I am - ready for my new home. As you can see, I am very handsome. I am a laid back guy and I love to go on walks but I'm not too sure about a harness yet. I love to play tug of war with rope and fleece toys. When the other dogs don't want to play with me, I get my humans to play for a while. I'm learning that it is OK to be held, petted, and loved-on. I am a gentle guy so I would be good around children and other dogs. I just want to be loved and am looking to finally get settled so I can give unconditional love and show my family that I am the best.

Hi, my name is Jake (# 388) but sometimes they call me Jakie. I'm a full bred, pug-a-licious 7 yr. old fawn male. When I wrinkle my forehead a musical eighth note appears! I also sometimes get my upper lip hung-up on one of my teeth and make funny faces. I get along great with my foster Pug sister and cats don't exist even if they're sitting right in front of me. My foster mom say that I am polite to everyone. I am almost fully paper trained. I've been on medication that causes me to drink a lot and I only like to use clean, dry training pads. I prefer to go potty outside. I like to be with you all the time. I will sit on your lap if you help me get there and help me down. I'll lay on the floor and wait if you're cooking! I love to take walks but I'm only moderately active in the house. I have toys but they're not all that interesting. I like chewing on rawhide bones and I love any kind of treat. (Could you have guessed?). I liked to rub and to be rubbed and petted, but most of all I need a permanent someone to love me!

I require some medication to help me make tears and with the excessive pigmentation in my eyes. Also because of the pigmentation problems in my eyes, I move a little slower. Could I be the puggy for you?

Pudge's Pals for Pugs!

Erin Guess
Scott & Allison Shafer

Pudge (#343) is an approximately 8-9 year old male Fawn with one of the sweetest, most lovable dispositions you could ever imagine. Every time his foster mom looks at him she laughs because he's so cute. He is a bit on the hefty side, but that makes him more fun to snuggle. Pudge is not your athletic type of guy but he keeps up with his 6 month old foster brother pretty well. Pudge is crate and potty trained, but you have to let him know that it's time to go out otherwise he will just "hold it". Pudge doesn't like to be left alone so he would be perfect for a family with another dog or for someone who spend most of their time at home.

Tessa (# 394) will be 4 years old on July 4th and is in excellent health.  She grew up with a Jack Russell Terrier so she runs fast and is a pretty active. She is good with children and cats. Tessa is a little timid at first with other dogs. She loves to play with them but needs a little more work on socialization.  She is not fully house-broken yet but working on it!  Tessa is very quiet and gentle. She rarely woof's, never growls and doesn't snore very much!  She loves being next to you or on your lap and really loves those belly rubs!

She is the perfect snuggle pug, who loves to keep your lap warm and snuggle up to your neck. Lucy gets along great with other dogs and is fascinated by cats. She is your typical people-loving pug -- she loves all humans no matter what shape, size or age! Lucy is housetrained and sleeps in her crate at night. Lucy does require occasional eye drops for her dry eye but she is such a good girl and lets you put the drops in with no problem. Whoever adopts Lucy is sure to love her as much as her foster family does.

Boomer's Pals for Pugs!

Nathan & Tami Hoy

Hi my name is Boomer (# 415). My family gave me to the humane society, but I'm so happy that KPR came and bailed me out. I was kind of skinny at first but I have filled out just fine at my foster home. The calendar says I am 10 years old but I don't act a day over 6!! I am very playful and I get along well with my foster sister and brother. My foster sister chases the cat but I just sit back and watch. I am very healthy and active - I like to run in the back yard and play with the toys. I really like to play games with my foster Mom and her family. I go outside to do the important business and I try my best to follow the rules. The vet lady looked me over and says I'm in tip top shape (and I have a bright smile to boot!). I'm a very laid back and happy guy. I like to snooze on my Mom's bed and cuddle at night for TV time. I would make a great pet for just about anyone who likes pugs.

Sparky's Pals for Pugs

Camille Traina, Spanky
& Little Ollie

My name is Sparky (# 260) and I'm just about as cute as they come! I'm about 6 years old and everything a pug should be - cute, affectionate and gentle. I am a little guy, weighing about 17 pounds and like to use the doggie door at my foster mom's home. She's done a really good job in housetraining me! I was surrendered to KPR because the other pugs in my old home would pick on me. I like my foster brother, but not so much the other foster doggies that have come thru the home. My foster mom thinks I should be the only dog of the house.

When I came to KPR I had heartworms, but have underwent treatment and am now heartworm free! I do need drops because I have something they call dry eye. I have been brought current on shots, neutered and am microchipped. My foster mom says I sometimes have some difficulty in climbing stairs but I'll go wherever I have to just to be with you. I love stuffed toys, going on walks and taking drives.

Adopted - June, 2008

Bugsy (# 487) is a 3-4 year old male Pug/Boston Terrier Mix or a "Bug". Bugsy comes to KPR after his owners divorced. He has a beautiful brindle coat and a stub tail. Bugsy is housebroken and is mindful of his owner. He is crate trained and loves to sleep under the covers with his foster mom. Bugsy has shown some signs of aggression towards his foster brothers and sisters, so he will be placed in a home where he can be the king of the castle or with a submissive dog. Like most dogs, Bugsy likes to chase cats. He loves to play with his younger foster brother, however he can sometimes play a little rough.

Zoe (# 380) Hi! My name is Zoe and I'm known as a "Puggle". One of my parents was a pug and the other a beagle! I am 3 years old and haven't had much luck finding my forever home yet. I have lived with two families in my short life. I got sent away from my first home because my family thought I was too active (but I was just a puppy!...we're all active when we're young). The second family left me outdoors all year round where I had nobody to play with. I learned to make my toy ball my best friend and keep myself entertained. I enjoy my foster parents and foster pugs because we go out to play fetch. It's my favorite game! I play until I can't run anymore, but I just love it! We have cats in our foster home, but they don't bother me and I don't bother them. I would really love to go to an active family that could take me out to play ball, go for walks or even just to run and play in the yard! I get along fine with other dogs and love my human friends a lot!

Mr. Snuggles' Pals for Pugs!

Scott & Allison Shafer

Mr. Snuggles (# 374 ) is a fawn male between 7 - 8 years old. Snuggles is a very loveable friendly dog that needs a forever home. He had a rough life before making it to his foster family, but is doing well now. Snuggles can't see as well as he would like to right now due to discoloration of his pupils, but does great with what vision he has. His foster mom is treating him for a sinus infection. Snuggles has some scars on his fur near his tail due to scratching and having nobody around to take care of the problem for him, but he's thankful to be safe now and loved.

Snuggles loves to be with family, he loves kids, and plays with his foster pug brother. He is potty trained, and will use a crate with no problem. Snuggles is ready to fill your home with lots of pugs love. His foster mommy said whoever gets him will be smothered with kisses, and lots of affection.

LuLu's
Pals for Pugs!

Rich & Melinda McGee

Lulu (# 517) is a 15 month old precious puggy. She is very active and loves to play with other dogs and toys. She is housebroken, but will require some consistent reinforcement because of her young age. She seems curious about cats and will sometimes bark at them. She does well being baby-gated into a room while you are away from home. She would do best in a home with older children. Lulu's former owners tied a rubber band around her tail when she was a puppy, leaving her with a nub instead of a tail. She also lived all of her life up until now outside chained to a dog house and has delivered at least one, probably two litters of puppies. Other than needing eye drops for the next month, she is in excellent health.

Adopted - May, 2008

Annie (# 335) - AKA Princess Bella - is a fawn pug who came to KPR when she was approx. 14 weeks old. She is very playful and loves to cuddle next to you. She is very friendly with other dogs. Bella is very shy around new people and gets scared at any loud noises or people approaching her too fast. She needs a quite place to eat because she wont eat if there is any noise or people around (not including dogs). She is doing well going potty outside. She sleeps in a crate and does not have any accidents throughout the night. Very sweet little girl.

Adopted - May, 2008

Holly (# 486 ) is 3 years old and is a real gem. She is a very sweet and lovable pug that is completely house broken. Holly is crate trained and loves sleeping in bed with her 7 year old foster brother. She gets along great with other dogs and shows no food aggression. Holly is blind in one eye from a previous corneal ulcer surgery. Her eye looks absolutely normal and it doesn't slow her down one bit. Holly recently had surgery on her stenotic nares to improve her breathing and her foster mom has noticed a real change. This well mannered pug also knows how to sit, stay and lay down on command. We know that you will think Holly is as great as we do!

Meet Misty (# 503), Her owner passed away a few months ago. She went to a family member, who realized that they just didn't have the time to devote to her, so lucky for Misty, they contacted KPR. Misty is 3 years old and as sweet as they come. She weighs around 20 pound and loves everyone she meets. All she wants to do is be with you, following you or on your lap. She is a true velcro puggie. Misty does not care about other dogs, she is a "people pug". Misty is all up to date on all her shots and heartworm preventative and is ready to go to her forever home. Could you be that home?

Adopted - April, 2008

Huey (# 396) and Baxter (# 397) are bonded pair of puggies, both 4 years old, looking for a high energy fun home. They aren't very interested in toys just play wrestling and following each other around. Baxter is really good, very sweet and loving. He likes to give kisses and is crate trained. Huey is also a sweet pug too, but very independent compared to Baxter. He has a lot of energy and needs to be in a home with other mates or kids. They absolutely love to play outside. Does this sound like your family?

Dahlia (# 367) is a super sweet bundle of love who was found as a stray. She is estimated to be 6-7 years old and has been the mother to several litters of puppies. Dahlia gets along great with other dogs and loves to cuddle, play with her toys (stuffed are her favorite), and she can even smile when she gets excited. She has been spoiled by her foster home and loves to find room under the covers to sleep - her other favorite activity is dinner time! She's a beautiful apricot color and rather petite. Currently, Dahlia is recovering from several internal parasites including a mild case of heartworms. During her exam by the vet, small masses were observed in her mammary glands, however they have been found to be harmless. You'll instantly fall in love with this precious bundle of joy - she just brings a smile to your face (and keeps your lap warm)!

Dahlia is currently undergoing treatments for heartworm. When her treatments are finished she will be heart worm free and only need to stay on preventative.

Meet Princess! (# 475)She is a 6 year old fawn female. Princess is very small for her age, but that doesn't stop her from doing what she wants. Princess was very timid when she first came into her foster home, but with the help of her five year old foster human sister she is coming around just fine now. Princess is housebroken and crate trained. She sleeps in her crate at night and has free roam of the house during the day. Princess gets along well with other dogs and children. She will be ready to go to her forever loving home once she is clear from the vet.

Gizmo (# 342) is an 8 year old fawn female. Gizmo is quite the sassy lady, she is an alpha and likes to be in charge and know that she's in charge. She is the oldest of her foster brothers and sisters and keeps them in line! Gizmo's foster parents think she will do great in a home with submissive dogs. Gizmo loves to be near you and loves attention. She likes to lay on the couch and bed with you, but needs help getting onto the furniture; her foster mommy bought her some puppy steps and she uses them like a pro. Gizmo does fine on a leash, her current foster home has a fenced in yard that she really enjoys. Gizmo likes to chase after her younger foster brothers and sister when they get a little wild and play outside. She loves being the center of attention and will roll onto her back and expose her belly for you to rub for as long as you're willing.

Camille, Spanky and Little Ollie

Gracie (# 391) is a 1 old year old female pug who has had a rough start. She had been starved, beaten and had cigarette burns in her ears and on her chest when she came to KPR. She gets along with all types of dogs, she loves to ride in the car, doesn't mind cats even when they run! She is not food aggressive. Her foster mom has nick named her muffin face and says she looks like a precious moments kid and her head is shaped like a muffin. she makes you feel cozy inside when she looks at you with her big eyes. Introducing Mason Lee (# 495) and Kula Mae (# 496), an 8 year old bonded pair. They are both very youthful in actions and looks. Mason totally adores Kula and is lost when she is not around. They are energetic, playful pugs but not out of control. They love to spend their days playing with each other and whatever toys they can get a hold of. Kula had her palate reduced last week and is doing beautifully. We were told by the previous owners that Kula suffers from allergy issues. The vet feels this could stem from the food they were eating. Currently, she exhibits no signs of allergies. Mason is a bit shy at first, but he warms up over a few days. Kula is the typical outgoing pug that never met a stranger! They have done fine with the other pugs in the current foster home. They are crate trained, and appear to be housebroken with minimal accidents since they came into foster care.

Kula has a previous history of allergic reactions to vaccines. She is current on her rabies and bordetella, but will need to be pre treated with benadryl and stay at a vet's office for a few hrs to be observed when she has the rest of her shots.

Mason is making a trip to the vet for his eyes as it appears he was an airborne allergy issue.

Prince (#489) is a sweet one and a half year old black pug. He is the darkest, tallest and longest pug they've ever seen. Despite weighing 21 pounds, he needs to gain a couple of pounds to be the perfect weight for his stature. Prince loves females and follows his foster mommy around all day. Prince is the sweetest little boy, and does pretty well with going outside to potty, although he's not a fan of this nasty Indiana weather, which discourages him a little, but then again who is? Prince likes to be near you at all times, and was a little unsure about sleeping in bed with his foster family, but once he realized it was okay he's loved it ever since. Being just a young puppy, Prince is shy around strangers, especially men. At his current foster home Prince isn't around kids at all, but we don't think it would be an issue. Prince gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters. He has the cutest little face, and has the sweetest shyest personality to match. Please open up your heart and home to this sweet little boy.

Adopted - April, 2008

Ollie (# 470) is the perfect gentleman and is estimated by the vet to be around 7 years old. He loves to snuggle and even gives "pug hugs" by standing on his back legs and putting his front ones around your neck. He loves to go "bye bye" in the car, walks well on a leash and likes his crate. He is very good with children of all ages and other dogs, listens well and is mostly potty trained (he has been caught "marking" a few times). He wants nothing more than someone to pal around with. He sits quietly at his foster mom's feet while she works or cooks and lays down on the couch in her lap while she watchs TV. He will actually fall asleep in your arms if you hold him like a baby! His only naughty habit is begging for people food. Ollie would make a wonderful pet for the person that didn't desire high maintenance or high energy. He is a sweetie!

Larry's Pals for Pugs!

Perry & Susan Byers

Larry (# 362) is a fawn male who is approximately 4 ½ years of age.  He was recently adopted, but due to no fault of his own, has been returned to KPR.  He has a perfect temperament and gets along with other dogs and children. Larry is house trained and loves to spend time out of doors with his humans.  He has grown accustomed to sleeping in bed with his foster parents and particularly likes the foot of the bed. When Larry is taken out on the town, he behaves as the perfect Gentleman. He is a bit underweight, but we are very confident that with his appetite, he will put on the pounds in a relatively short time. Larry does have some vision problems and is being treated by a specialist to address those concerns. According to the Vet, he will need to be on prescription eye medications for the remainder of his life.  Larry needs some stability in his life.  Could you be the perfect family for him?

Adopted - April, 2008

Willie (# 397) is an adorable 2 ½ year old male pug. Willie had a rough start to his little life spending his first two years in a puppy mill being bred to Beagles, then was purchased by a “clueless” couple who kept him outside with only a plastic carrier for shelter. When we went to pick him up from these people we were told he was completely unsocialized and scared of all people. Within 24 hours after being rescued this little guy showed us how wrong they were – he is the most loving affectionate pug ever! He adores our four other dogs and craves being with other canine companions. He is not used to strangers and will initially bark at them but we are confident that will change as he becomes socialized. Willie is crate trained and is in the process of being housetrained. He is neutered and has been given a clean bill of health. His former owners said that he sometimes had little fainting spells but we have not witnessed that at all. We are monitoring him for any sign of this behavior, possibly they should have let him LIVE INSIDE? He loves sitting in your lap by the fire, and loves to wrestle with our Labradane! He will make a wonderful companion for any family!

Adopted - April, 2008

Rocky (# 185) is a 5 yr. old fawn color male weighing 23 lbs. He loves to play with his rope toy, and he is a very loving affectionate pug. He loves everyone but prefers men. He gets along with other dogs and leaves his foster parent's cats alone. He needs to be fed alone, he worries about other dogs trying to steal his food, so we feed him by himself to avoid any problems. He is potty trained but if you going to leave him alone he needs to be crated - he will mark to get your attention. Rocky loves to sleep in the bed with his foster mom and dad and he can give high fives when he get excited to see you. He will make a great dog for some lucky family!

Rocky's Pals for Pugs

The Lindsey Crew

Here is a pair of cuties that are ready to entertain you. Sonny (#481) and Cher (#482) are 1 year old and are completely bonded to each other – so much that they spend their waking hours romping and stomping with each other. One of their favorite activities is making laps around the furniture and playing tug of war. There’s never really a clear winner, but the entertainment is priceless. Like most pugs, Sonny and Cher love stuffed toys of all sorts, like to snuggle and soak up all the attention you can lavish on them. Their foster mom indicates they are about 80-90% housetrained, but will need to be kept on a routine to ensure their success. Sonny and Cher walk fine on a leash and crate training should not be a problem. Open your heart and home to these two bundles of love and you will have fun 24/7.

Adopted - April, 2008

Bugsy (# 478) is an affectionate, intelligent, eager to please 3 year old fawn male who is simply adorable. He responds to his name and has adapted quickly to his foster home and two canine siblings. While Bugsy's foster home does not have children or cats, his gentle, easy going disposition suggests he would adapt to them as well. Bugsy tolerates his crate and enters willingly, but of course he prefers to be right next to his humans at all times. His forever family is warned to make a lot of room in their heart because Bugsy is sure to steal every inch of it.

Gordito/Gordie ( # 392) is an 11 month old energetic, inquisitive, adorable bundle of joy! But he's not a "wild hare" at all.  He loves: all people;  dogs, no matter their size; tennis balls with part of the fuzz removed (easier to carry in his small mouth); "unstuffed" stuffed toys; area rugs that he can pick up and toss around; his crate for sleeping but he just might be convinced to be a "back warmer" for someone; his "light" food; raw carrots and sweet potatoes; long walks on an extendable leash--1 1/3 miles twice a day; outside for sniffing adventures; snow for eating and pushing with his nose, what there is of it; kisses to and from and lots of face licks from; not yet a lap dog but working on that; very quiet but lets you know if there's an unfamiliar sound in his territory; wants to be with people and cries to be carried if he can't navigate the stairs--he's fine with four or five steps into and out of house or deck.

Gordie has learned to "potty" on command: open the door, say "potty," and lickety-split he goes; never had an accident in the house; doesn't mark his territory; eats his diet food twice a day, according to directions, and has lost much of his baby fat with the walks. I think he's perfect, but that's "momspeak" of course!

Gordie is on eye medication and will be rechecked by the vet in 2 weeks.

Champ (# 333) is a wonderful 8 year old boy. Champ has been in foster care with our family since August '07. We have 3 small/medium dogs of our own and foster greyhounds on occasion. Champ has gotten along fabulously with any dog who is with us. He will lay with them on a doggie pillow, or leave them alone if that is what they want. He's gone camping and walking in the woods a lot and is great at both activities. He doesn't try to run away, just hangs out with his foster family. We often have family members come and go at our house and Champ welcomes young and old. He is well house trained, and just won't get up on furniture. Although he loves for you to get on the floor and play with him, pet and love him, it seems to scare him for a human to hold him. He has on occasion gotten possessive of a child's toy he has found left on the floor & growls when I try to take it away, but that's his only negative trait, and I don't count that as a big one, as he rarely does this! His health has been excellent since he came & he eats well and hardily!

Adopted - March, 2008

Petey (#483) came to KPR after his family had a new baby. Petey is enjoying his new life with his brand-new family, soaking up as much love and attention they can give him. His foster mom says that Petey is her constant companion and loves to go on walks. Once Spring rolls around you can bet that Petey and his mom will be taking longer walks together. This little guy didn't know what to think of toys at first, but he loves his Tootsie Roll stuffed pop.

Adopted - March, 2008

Meet Baxter (#484), a 6 year old fawn boy that weighs about 20 lbs. Sweet Baxter was raised in a loving home until his owners had to give him up due to marking behavior in the house. The foster home reports that Baxter has adjusted very well to his foster home and they have not had any problems with marking - his belly bands have been dry every day! He gets along great with kids and his foster doggie sister. Baxter is housebroken and likes to sleep in his crate at night. Like most pugs, he is very loving and likes to hang out with his people at all times. Baxter loves it when you pet his very soft, luxurious fur. Dare I say he doesn't shed very much! He knows some commands such as sit, shake, and roll over. Baxter has a very cute tongue that is a bit big for his mouth. What's not to love?

Adopted - March, 2008

Hi my name is Maverick (# 389). I'm 2 years old and neutered. I used to be known as Sluggo but my foster parents gave me a better name for my new life. Before I came to KPR, I was found in a hospital parking lot chained to a pole with my collar growing into my neck. Now I love to run and play with my two foster pug brothers. I will lick your face all you want and follow you around begging for lovin’!  I pretty much get along with everyone really well. I love playing with stuffed animals and eating pig ears. I am completely house broken and sleep with my foster parents in their bedroom all night long without any problems. I love going for walks and do very well on a leash. I would really like a fenced in yard because I love to run and its hard to catch me if I get lose.

Adopted - March, 2008

Little Man (# 507) is an approximately 7-8 year old male,  but don't let the age fool you. Little Man loves to lay around and snore but sure can fetch a stuffed toy when tempted. He is crate and potty trained but you have to remind him when it's time to go out. He also likes to go for walks and car rides. Little Man would be a great dog for any home environment but can be possessive with his toys and treats when around other dogs. He tends to have dry, itchy skin which is easily taken care of with a bath and some omega oils.

Adopted - March, 2008

Meet Emma (#454), a fun loving little snuggle puggy! She is 5 years old and weighs 16 pounds. Emma came to KPR after her owner was no longer able to take care of her. She has plenty of energy (but not too much), jumps like a puppy, but she also loves to hang out on the couch with you and watch TV. An affectionate pug, she is your best friend within hours of meeting you. She has adapted wonderfully to her foster home and has rapidly gotten into her new routine. Emma has so many great qualities - she gets along great with our children (ages 7 and 9), is housetrained and she sleeps in her crate at night. She enjoys taking walks with her foster doggie sister and is good in the car. Emma loves her rawhides and squeak toys, and leaves everything else alone. Additionally, she was micro chipped while at the Humane Society.

Adopted - March, 2008

Layla Lucille (# 471) is a 3 month old "chug" (pug/chihuahua mix). She was purchased from a pet store as a purebred pug, but most of us think she must be part Chihuahua. Her new owners realized that they didn't have the time to devote to their new little bundle of energy so they turned her into a shelter. Lucky for Layla, KPR came running to scoop this little girl up! Layla weighs about 9 pounds and has no health issues. She was recently spayed and had her dew claws removed. She is only waiting on her last round of puppy shots and worming. Layla LOVES to run and jump and leap and spin and roll and bite and PLAY! Because she is still just a puppy and hasn't yet learned that teeth hurt, we would  recommend a home with older children that understand that they have to be patient with her while she is trained to be a good little girl. Layla loves other dogs and sees them mainly as entertainment - part "chew toy" and the rest "partner in crime". Layla is a ball of puppy energy that never stops. She's a fun loving, happy little cutey that is sure to win over even the hardest of hearts!

Romeo (# 385) is 8 months old. He's 12 lbs and full of puppy. He gets along well with his faster brothers and sister. He likes to play tug-o-war. He loves chew bones, mini tennis balls, and any kind of treats. He sleeps in the people bed. He's not very big, but he makes a nice warm spot! He is pretty much potty trained. He wears a belly band while I'm at work. In the past week & a half, it's only been wet two times when I got home. He is on a regular going out to potty schedule. He's very loving and playful. He's a little timid around new people, but he warms up fast. He has a good appetite and loves to eat. (what pug doesn't?) And he LOVES belly rubs. He falls asleep during his bedtime belly rub. He's such a sweetheart!  Romeo's foster home became his forever home.

Ali ( # 364) is your typical, fun-loving young pug. He is about 2-3 years old and when he gets excited he spins around in circles. Ali weighs in at 19 lbs, has a tight double roll tail and is as healthy as can be. He loves to play and run with his foster pug brother and also enjoys spending time with his foster family. Ali is crate trained and does not mind sleeping there at night, although he would prefer to sleep in bed with you!  While Ali is a loving little boy, he does not care to have his collar grabbed. We are not sure why he reacts to having his collar grabbed, but are hopeful that once placed in a loving, patient home he will learn this is not a bad thing. Ali is very eager to please and would do well in a home with children that can respect his boundaries.

Daisy Mae (# 514) is 13 pounds of energy and love. She is petite and very cute. She is 2 years old. She loves to play, give kisses and is housebroken. She adapts very well. When she plays hard, she gets excited and likes to nip at your fingers, therefore she should be placed in a home with older children who know how to be gentle. She likes to bark and will bark to go outside. She prefers to be in the house and wants to come in as soon as she does her business. She wants to be with her family - wherever you are she wants to be right by your side. The vet has given her a clean bill of health.

Winston (# 387) is about 1 1/2 yrs old. He is so full of puppy energy! He loves to play with his foster brothers & sister. He is crate trained & doesn't put up a fuss at all. He LOVES meal time and treats. He gets very excited at meal time. He does a little dance and talks to me when I'm getting his food ready. I don't think I've ever heard him snore like the other pugs. He's about 90% potty trained. While I'm at work, I put all of my guys in belly bands. (You can find them on Ebay. Be sure to get batting & elastic.) The guys don't mind them at all. And the best part is when I get home, I know they haven't marked anywhere because they are dry. Winston has only had 2 wet belly bands and that was when he first came. He is on a regular potty schedule, which helps. He is learning to use the stairs. He goes up with no problem, but he's afraid to go down. He loves his bed that I keep in his crate. The only time I shut the door is at bedtime. He likes to nap there during the day. In the evening when we watch tv, he lays on the sofa arm with his little face resting on my arm. He's such a sweet little boy!

Emma (# 469) is a black female, who the vet says is about 2 years old.  She is a bundle of joy! Emma is dainty and girlie and loves to be the center of attention, but she can rough and tumble with the best. She is full of energy!  She is very smart and has learned not to potty in the house or in her crate.  She can walk on a leash nicely, loves to ride in the car and will play for hours. She gets along with everyone, including her foster family's three small children, three other dogs and even a cat!

Adopted - March, 2008

Josephine (aka Josie) (#433) is a sweet little 17 pound pug that comes to KPR from a local shelter. The shelter guessed her age at 10 since she has a little grey on her face, feet, and tail; however the foster home estimates her to be a bit younger due to her activity level. When Josie visits the vet we will get a better estimate on her age. Josie's foster home reports that she is a perfect little lady that has not had any accidents in their home. She gets along great with kids and other dogs and is very inquisitive. Josie is leashed trained and loves to go for walks and car rides. Her foster home is working on training her to stay off furniture and to not beg for human food.

Meet Clare (#472), a super sweet little "chug" gal (a cross between a Pug and a Chihuahua) that is estimated to be about 4 years old. KPR was able to bail Clare out of a local shelter and she's been living the good life ever since. Her foster home reports that she is beyond sweet, loving, loyal and good with other dogs. We're not sure about kitties or children, but we can imagine she'd do just fine. Clare likes to spend her days playing with soft toys, chewing greenies and rawhide treats and just spending time with her people. When she first arrived in her foster home she was a bit overweight. Her weight is now being monitored by routine feeding times. The vet indicated that Clare is very healthy, with good teeth, ears, eyes, and skin. She is alert, playful, sweet, very easy to be with. Clare is very gentle, well mannered and smart to boot - she figured out the doggie door in the garage in a matter of minutes.

Sadie (# 376) is a 7 yr old brindled bug (pug-Boston terrier mix). She came to us ʽnot house-trainedʼ. We put this in parentheses, as she has not once urinated in her foster home. Apparently, Sadie and a Jack Russell companion used to spend a lot of time outside, but the JRT would dig under the fence and both of them would run off. The owners installed electrified cattle fencing to curtail the problem, and Sadie shocked herself enough times that she became terrified of the backyard. Consequently, she would do her ʽbusinessʼ in the house. Sadie is a perfect lady, who is well-behaved on her leashed walks and loves nothing more than giving bug kisses and falling asleep on your lap with all 4 legs in the air. Sadie is inquisitive, fine with cats, other dogs, and loves her human friends. She has spent her foster home time with 5 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 humans, so sheʼll do fine anywhere. Ultimately, Sadie charmed her way into the lives of her foster family who can't give her up. She'll now live in the lap of pug luxury (aka Pug Heaven) for the rest of her long life!

Roxie (# 502) is a fun loving little lady. She is 5 years old and weighs 25 pounds, but don't let that fool you. This girl is full of energy, she can run and jump like a puppy. She is great with kids and other dogs. She is house trained and crate trained, but prefers to be with her humans. Roxie loves to be showered with love and attention and she gives it back in return. She loves to eat and chew on pig ears. Roxie truly is a great dog to have. She will make a great addition to any family.

Adopted - February, 2008

Dixie (# 516) is 6 years old and in excellent health. If you are looking for a little puggy lap dog, then Dixie is your girl! She is the ultimate lovebug. She loves to sit in your lap or right beside her human friends all the time. She is a petite little puggy, weighing 17 lbs. She gets along well with both dogs and cats. She is completely housetrained. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She is very calm and well behaved in a car.

Hi! I'm Opie (# 476). I am about 2 years old and am ready to play. I was dropped off after-hours at the local animal shelter and was rescued by KPR. Whew -- was I lucky! Life is good for me now. I like to sleep in my crate and I'm about 90% housebroken. I'm up-to-date on all vaccinations and have even been micro chipped, and I weigh a whole TEN pounds! I get along with everyone, although sometimes my foster pug brothers and sisters don't like to get as crazy as I do. But hey, I'm all puppy and that's what I'm supposed to do. Let's have some fun!

Tiny (# 511) is a little pug/pom mix that weighs 12 pounds. She is around 5 years old and is as cute as they come. She loves to be close to you and give kisses. At bedtime, she quickly dives under the covers and in 30 seconds is sound asleep for the night. Of course, this could have something to do with playing all day long with her foster brothers. She'll chase them and pounce at them. It's really cute to watch. She's not much into stuffed animals like they are, but she loves bones and raw hide chews. Her foster brother loves them too. So when he tries to take hers, she stands up to him even though she's only half his size. She's a tough cookie! She's good about going out to potty. Just a couple of inside accidents her first week in her foster home, but I think that's because of all the changes she's been through. A friend came over the other night and she was a little timid at first. But before he left, she was giving kisses. She's a big 'ol love bug in a "tiny" package!

Tiny is crate trained and is good with children and other dogs. Tiny's ideal home will have at least one furry sibling to play with. Tiny needs a home where she can be the little princess.

Shadow (# 248) is a 3 year old male pug that is looking for his forever home. He loves going for walks and snuggling with his foster brothers and sisters. He even grooms them. He comes when you call any of them, as he wants to be the center of attention. He needs drops in his food and one of his eyes due to an untreated eye injury that he eventually had surgery on. He is such a sweet little guy.

Bandit (#410) and Scooby (#411) are the sweetest and most lovable bonded pair of pugs in the world!  Bandit has the darker face.  These 5 year old boys love to be around people, and they absolutely live to win your affection and approval. They were surrendered to KPR because their owner had to move toa smaller house and couldn't care for them anymore.  Both were heartworm positive and underwent successful treatment.  They were both neutered and had dentals.

They both love to go on walks and be little explorers, but they're equally excited about laying in a heap on the floor for a belly rub. Bandit is the "little brother" type of the two, and always wants to be the center of attention. Scooby is one laid-back dude, waiting his turn for some lovin'. While Scooby likes to sleep on his back with his paws flailing all over, Bandit falls asleep standing up and leaning against something. It's really funny to watch him slide down slowly until he finally pops his head back up, only to drift into sleep again! They sleep in their crate together at night, are house-trained and are good with kids. Bandit and Scooby are an amazing pair that deserves all the love in the world!

Brutus' Pals for Pugs

Dustin Bailey

Brutus (# 338) is a 7 year old gentleman pug. He is very laid back and loves nothing better than to be with you. He loves stuffed animals and sometimes plays tug of war with his foster sister. Brutus ignores his foster parents' cat, gets along great with their dogs and loves everyone. He is gentle with the foster family's 6 month old grandson. He has trouble with skin allergies and is on two medicines for them. They are already getting much better. Brutus' former owner developed severe allergies to Brutus about three years ago. Since then Brutus has been living outside. That is probably the reason for Brutus' allergies and skin trouble. Living indoors should make a real difference for him.

Brutus came to the rescue overweight, weighing in at 31.4 pounds.  His foster mom put him on a diet and is happy to report that he has lost 1.4 pounds and seems to get around much easier and feel much better. Brutus is a very gentle dog. Loves everyone and doesn't chase kitties. He is a real gentleman.  Brutus will melt your heart and make you want to take him home with you, if you meet him. Even though he is seven years old he has a lot of living left to do.

Butch's
Pals for Pugs!

Butch (# 466) is a very cute 16.5 lb. black male that is about 3 years old. This sweet boy ended up at the humane society after his owners decided they didn't want him anymore. While at the humane society Butch was neutered, treated for a clogged tear duct, and had a benign mass removed from his head. With the extra TLC his foster home has given him, he is coming around nicely and is growing more handsome by the day! Butch loves his human and dog friends. This sweet, wonderful boy is like 'velcro' - he stays close to his humans at all times and there is never an empty lap. Butch is now living a good life - playing with his foster dog sister and playing with all sorts of toys. He is crate trained and his house training is coming along well.

Adopted - January, 2008

Beau (# 251) is approximately 5 years old. He is in need of a diet, as he weighs 29 lbs.  He loves his stuffed animal and fluffy sleeping pillow, but he also likes the chance to snuggle under the covers with his people on really cold nights! He can sit, shake and lay down and walks really good on a leash.  Beau loves car rides. Companionship is very important to him.

Adopted - January, 2008

Chella Marie (# 375) is a 5 1/2 year old who thinks she is 2!  Chella's favorite activities include:  belly rubbin's, playing with toys, squeezing in as close as she can to you, and snack time!  Chella was rescued with significant bladder stones - they've been removed, but to prevent them from occurring again, Chella is on a prescription diet.  Chella Marie loves to be #1, but gets along fine with her other Pug and human friends.  Chella loves to play so active friends are her favorites.  Chella is house trained and crate trained (although she loves to sleep in bed with her foster parent).

Clara's Pals for Pugs!

Clara (# 366) came to KPR after two angels in Tennessee saved her from euthanasia. This sweet pug is estimated to be 10-12 years old.  She is calm, fully house broken, loves to be held and knows all the rules. Clara has sowed her wild oats and thinks of herself as "semi-retired." She enjoys outside walks on the leash and even a short run, but fetch or outside play, not so much. Clara is the lone pet in her foster household, but is curious and calm with her doggie cousins and neighbors. She spends nights in her cozy crate next to her foster Mom's bed and prefers a full 10 hours of beauty sleep.

12/23 Update -  Clara is not the same pug she was a month ago! Clara is doing so great! She is being treated right now for tape worms from fleas she had previously. She weighs 13-14 pounds and this is perfect for her! She is a wonderful petite little woman! Her heart murmur is well under control with her weight and laid back personality. All Clara needs now is for someone to give her the loving forever home she has been waiting for!

Brutus (# 406) is a 4 year old, sweet Pug. His tremendous under bite makes him look sad, however he would like nothing better than to be on your lap. He is a little timid at first, but he warms up quickly. He plays as if he were still just a puppy. Brutus gets along with other dogs very well. A loving hand and a soft lap would make Brutus happiest.

Adopted - January, 2008

Homer (#450) is a 35 pound, 3.5 year old fawn male that came to KPR after he was abandoned by his former owner. He loves to play tug of war with his foster brothers and has no trouble getting around. Homer does okay with other male dogs and is quite curious when it comes to females. He is covered in "sweet spots" and if scratch or rub him in the right "spot" he'll close his eyes and start stamping a hind foot uncontrollably. Homer also has a slight under bite that makes him look like he's grinning sometimes. He has a skin allergy that requires him to take one pill every other day, but the addition of a little peanut butter with the pill makes this one of his favorite parts of the day. While Homer does fine with other dogs, he can be somewhat standoff-ish when it comes to kids, which has led to growling on a couple of occasions. Without knowing Homer's full history, we are not sure if this behavior is due to a lack of exposure to children or if some other event in his life has caused him to be unsure of kids.

Max (#191) came to KPR with his bonded mate, Liza.  Sadly, Liza went to Rainbow Bridge July, 6, 2007.  Max is estimated to be 14 1/2 years old.  Max is a mellow kind of gentleman, who likes to spend his days watching everyone else waste energy from the comfort of his pillow.

Lilly (#449) is a gorgeous 2 year old female pug. Sweet Lilly is super with kids, housebroken and up to date on shots. When she arrived at her foster home, she had a urinary tract infection - that is now clear and she is ready for her forever home. While Lilly is very loving, she does not do well with other dogs or cats, therefore we will be looking to place her in a home where she can be the only pet.

Adopted - January, 2008

Joey (# 458) is a super cute young pug that won't be in foster care long. He comes to KPR from an Indiana shelter and is estimated to be about 2-3 years old. Joey is so excited to be out of the shelter and be around people, that when he wants to sit in your lap he does, no matter if there is another dog already there! He has lots of energy, is good with the other dogs and has ignored the foster cats. Joey loves people, loves to run and play, loves to please, and is housebroken. We're sure that Joey will be good with kids, although with his high energy, he could knock little ones down.

Adopted - January, 2008

Billy (# 458) is black male between 2 - 3 years old, weighing 18.5 lb. He is very friendly with everyone, including children and other dogs, and is very content to snuggle with you at all times. Sweet Billy lived his life in a puppy mill before being rescued by KPR. Once his previous owners were done with him, they dumped him at the local pound. Despite his past, Billy is the most gentle little man. He does great on a leash, has already learned to "sit" and has begun the house training process. Billy is in good physical shape and has a beautiful black shiny coat. When Billy had his teeth cleaned, the vet had to remove some, but he eats just fine, just like a normal puggie! He also takes to the crate with no problem and is quite the snorer. Whoever is fortunate enough to adopt Billy is lucky indeed - he is a very affectionate, loving dog.

Hi! My name is Miles (#407). I'm only 2 1/2, but I've been through a lot in those years. I was turned into a vet's office by a good Samaritan after I was hit by a car. I got all my ouchies fixed, and then a nice lady from the vet's office took me home to try to find my owner. She couldn't find them, so here I am! I am neutered, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on all my shots. I am loving and like nothing more than to please you! I have a special diet since my accident and I am also working on my potty training, but with my belly band and a regular schedule I am making great strides!

Peyton - Six beautiful babies were abandoned and left for dead in a cardboard box on an Indianapolis area football field. Their Mama Pug was in the box with them, already dead, bless her little Puggie heart. A seven year old little girl found them and told her Mother, who thankfully found KPR. Once in KPR's hands, the babies were checked out by a Vet and then placed in a KPR Foster home where they received round the clock feedings, care and attention. Sadly, despite our best efforts, we lost all but one of the babies. Peyton was the only survivor.

Peyton continue to thrive and grow, thanks to his wonderful foster momma, who fed him and cared for him round the clock.  In November, 2007, Peyton was placed with his forever family.  He is a happy, healthy thriving puppy! He now has a Sister named Daisy. She is an adorable, well behaved Puggle. Peyton enjoys romping with his Sister who is very attached to him already!

Through a DNA test, it was discovered that Peyton is half Pug and half Pekinese.

Adopted - January, 2008!

Bubba Dog (# 438) is a 2 year old male who came to us when his owner no longer had the time to care for him. He is the sweetest little pug dog! He had an eye injury when he was a year old and during the surgery to fix this, he had a hypoxic event where he did not get enough oxygen to his brain. This causes him to have a strange gait and his reflexes to be a little slow, but it doesn't slow him down a bit! He still loves to run and play, and he adores his "baby" and takes it to bed with him every night! Bubba loves his dog brothers and sisters, and doesn't pay any attention to the cats in his foster home. He is great with kids, and is crate trained. He likes to mark, so we are working on getting this under control and he has made progress! He also loves to sleep in the bed with his foster mom and to lay on her lap when she is watching TV or on the computer.

Penny is a 14 week old female who came to us, along with her sister, Roxi. Penny came to rescue with Demodex, but the treatment is working and her skin is clearing up. She is an active little girl who loves to play and romp!

Lola (# 418) is a female pug who is approximately 2 years old. She has been spayed and is up to date on vaccinations. She is a typical young pug with lots of energy and she LOVES to run, run, run, and play, play play! She gets along well with other dogs, but should be placed in a home that has a dog that wants to play! She is house trained and is learning to walk on a leash. She knows her name, but is a typical pug and only comes when SHE wants to!

Adopted - January, 2008

Abby (# 403) has already had 3 homes in her 4 years of life. So coming to KPR was the best thing that had happened in Abby's short life! Abby soon made friends with her foster sister in her new home, and won the hearts of her foster parents. She loves to cuddle, is in good health and is especially fond of children and other dogs. She still needs to learn some manners and patience, but she's anxious to please and is learning not to bark at neighbors or try to chase passers-by on her walks.

Adopted - January, 2008

Daisy (# 373) is nearly 1 year old. She came to KPR through some unfortunate circumstances. First, her owner moved away and gave her to some friends.  The friends kept her for two months and then decided that they couldn't keep her. Fortunately, they decided to contact KPR. We were able to put her directly into her forever home with the Phillips family in Louisville. Daisy loves to play with her new dog sibling and they have a wonderful time together. They play all day long.

Adopted - January, 2008

Abby (# 242) is loving, attentive, female pug approximately 5 years old. She is an alpha female who would be well suited to a family with only one dog, though she does tolerate cats and occasionally will rough house with her younger companions. Abbey is a little edgy when approached suddenly and thus would probably do better in a household with older children. She has no apparent health issues other than missing a couple of rear toes and is a little on the hefty side. She likes to be where the action (people) is. She is fully house trained, loves baths and doesn’t mind her pedicures.
