Harley (# 349) is 3 1/2 years old.  He was surrendered to KPR by the Kentucky Humane Society. His eyes were very red because of an eye infection, but with the proper medication it cleared up and he is looking as handsome as ever now. He no longer has to have the eye meds and his vision is excellent.  He is totally housebroken and minds very well. He just wants to be near everyone at all times and gets along well with the other dogs. Harley's Christmas wish is to find his forever family!

Meet Hank (#455), a cuddly 3 year old, who was surrendered to KPR when his family had a new baby. This sweet boy loves kids and soaks up all the love and attention he can get. Hank is up to date on shots, but will be kept on medical hold until he is neutered. He likes to sleep with his foster family and gets along well with his other canine foster brothers and sisters. Hank is housebroken, but has a tendency to mark if he smells other dogs.

Sadie (# 422) is a 2 year old female fawn pug weighing in at a whopping 11 lbs. She recently gave birth to puppies and unfortunately none of them survived. She is a very gentle and sweet little girl that wants nothing else than to be loved and held. Sadie gets along very well with all her foster brothers and sisters.

Adopted - December, 2007

Cassie (# 447) is 2 1/2 years old and a real sweetheart. She loves to be right by her foster mom's side at all times. She loves to sit and be snuggled! She also LOVES to play with her two foster dog brothers. She ignores the cats, and came from a family with children - so she is an all around great dog! She is housebroken, and will go into a crate without complaint, but usually requires a little food motivation to get in - she would rather be with the people!

Adopted - December, 2007

king
King (#314) is a beautiful 2 year old that had a tough time before he came to KPR. With the help of some loving, patient fostering, he is now enjoying life and has become a fun loving and happy guy! King is comfortable in his crate, although he much prefers to sleep on the big bed with his humans and be a part of the family. King is housebroken, but due to some trauma to his hip/pelvic area in his previous life, when he gets excited around his humans, he does have a little leakage issue. He is making progress on this and just needs a patient, loving person to continue to work with him. King is having a wonderful time playing with his three human siblings in his forever home.

Milo is very good with dogs and cats and he also does great with his three foster pug brothers. Milo loves to give kisses and he's always 'smiling'. He knows how to sit, stay, and is housebroken. He will sleep in a crate or in the bedroom with you.

Below ~ 9 weeks old

Princess Sophia Maria Pug! ( # 339) This adorable little pug was attacked by her breeder's Boxer when she was just 6 weeks old and weighed just 2 lbs.  She suffered a skull fracture and lost her eye due to the attack.  When the breeder found out the extent of her injuries and cost of the surgery, he wanted to have her put to sleep.  Thankfully the Vet took responsibility for Sophia, performing the initial surgery and paying for her medical expenses and care.  She then surrendered her to KPR where Sophia could find a forever home.

Sophia endured multiple surgeries, but is now doing wonderful!  She is very smart, outgoing and fearless!  She has no idea she is "different"!!!  She loves everyone she meets, both humans and animals.  Just as much as she loves to "romp and stomp", she also loves to snuggle and kiss.  Sophia is a very special, precious little puggie girl!

Rosie (#149) is a black female that is 4 years old. She is an alpha and the other dogs in the family ganged up on her and beat her up. She is still under vet care and still needs another surgery. Her owners realized that the best thing for Rosie was to surrender her to KPR so we could find her a home without other dogs. She is a sweetie and loves to be with her foster Mom.

Purdy (# 361) is a fawn female who turns 2 years old in November. Purdy got her name because she was the prettiest little thing we ever laid eyes on. She is beautiful and full of life. Purdy is spayed and up to date on shots. She loves to chew on things, so make sure she always has a bone! She loves fluffy stuffed toys too. Purdy is good with children, cats and other dogs. She has no aggression issues. Purdy is the perfect little pug and she's ready to join your home forever!

Kramer (# 354) is a 6 year old, 18 pound, fawn angel who is as sweet as she can be. She was surrendered by a loving family that no longer had the time to care for her. She is a very quiet and well-mannered pug. She loves being near you. She seems to always be one step behind no matter where you go. She's calm, but has a very playful side as well. When Kramer's ready to play, she'll gently tug on you or a toy to get your attention. Kramer does very well with all the members of her foster family, including children, cats and her pug foster sister. She's doing very well with housetraining. She wants you to go with her or to walk her in order to go potty. She's an itchy little pug that will require cortisone shots and a daily Benadryl, but with a little adjustment to her food, she's doing a lot better. Kramer's left ear also needs more attention than normal. All it takes is a few more cleanings than a normal dog's ear. Of course, all of the love Kramer gives is worth the little extra time.

My name is Barcley (# 350) and I am a beautiful, healthy male about 3-4 yrs old. You may think I'm sticking my tongue out at you, but I have a bit of an under bite! I love to sit in your lap and I will follow your every step. I'll sit for you when you offer me a treat. I am housetrained, just keep me on a schedule and I am good to go. I am a sweet boy but I can be jealous if another fur baby gets attention. So I really need to be in a home where I will be "top dog"! I am up to date on all my shots and I have already been neutered. I am ready to come live with you forever and be your little shadow.

Hi my name is Ernie (#446) and I am just about perfect! Not only am I super cute, but I am housebroken. I was dumped on the side of the road with another dog pal when my owner decided he didn't want me anymore. The nice people at KPR pulled me out of the shelter and here I am!  The shelter estimates that I'm about 2 years old.  I weigh 17.5 pounds. My foster mom thinks I'm a great guy.  I have wonderful manners, am crate trained, like other dogs and am really friendly. I have two spots on my coat with some scabbing. The vet says this was caused by flea allergy dermatitis. The good news is that the fleas are gone and I'm eating good food now, so my coat will be in good shape in no time. I hope that you decide that I'd be a perfect fit in your life. My foster mom can't say enough good things about me and I bet you'll feel the same way too!

Bart (# 351) is the essence of a snuggle pug! He is 3-4 years old and shows all the signs of a true gentleman! He is a 20 lb., loveable, neutered fawn male that is up to date on all of his shots, and has no medical problems. Bart loves nothing more than a good old fashioned belly rub or a cuddle with his family in the bed at night. He is potty trained, and has had no accidents while at his foster home, nor shown any signs of marking at all. Bart will alert you when any strange noises happen, or someone is around, He shares his toys well with other pugs, but tends to be possessive of his food. However, he has no problems finishing everyone else’s if given the chance! He would make a wonderful addition to your home, and is really looking for a place to call his forever!

Annabelle (# 312), 7 years old, and Buckwheat , 5 years old (# 313) are a bonded pair of pugs surrendered due to divorce. Annabelle is a fawn female. She is approximately 15 pounds and is a little spitfire! She is definitely the alpha of the pair. She loves to sit in your lap and give hugs, run and explore in the backyard, and is crazy about chewable treats. Buckwheat is a black male and weighs about 19 pounds. He is so sweet and gets jealous when you pay attention to anything or anyone other than him - he wants to cuddle up beside you and have you pet him all the time. Annabelle probably won't do good in a home with cats, they aren't her favorite species! Both know "sit" and "down" and probably other commands, although Buckwheat gets so excited in the face of a treat it's hard for him to sit for more than a second!

Adopted - October, 2007

Winston (# 320) is one big boy, weighing 25 lbs. We are not sure of his exact age, but the vet says he is around 3-4 years old.

When we first brought him home, you couldn't tell that he was in a new place. He warmed up to everyone and acted as if he knew us his whole life. When he gets excited he makes this funny noise almost like a pig snorting. He has had some issues with housebreaking, but has not been neutered yet. I feel this issue will improve greatly after he's neutered.

He is good with other dogs, cats and children. He has been loving the time he gets to spend with his pug sister and two tots!! Don't let him fool you...he is a ham and ready to make you laugh.......Winston is a lovable pug and will bring many years of joy to a loving family.

Jada (# 167) is approximately 1 and a half years old and is a very loving pug. She still has puppy left in her and she loves to play. If you have a missing sock, chances are she has run off with it because she loves stealing socks. She is a very quiet dog and doesn’t bark much. She has a very sweet temperament and makes a wonderful companion. Jada loves to follow you around and be by your side as much as possible. Although Jada does get along with other dogs, she needs to be the center of attention. She doesn’t like to share the stage and therefore does better being the only dog. This sweet little girl will take all the love and attention she can get and gives it back too.

Adopted - October, 2007

Daphne and Mollie (# 356 and # 357) are a bonded pair of pugs who are looking for a forever home.  Daphne, who was 7 years old on June 1st , is a black female. Mollie will be 4 years old on January 20th. Both girls are housebroken and spayed.

Mollie is fun loving and quick to make up to anyone that pets her. Mollie enjoys playing with her new foster pug sister and brother. While Daphne & Mollie enjoy each other, it is apparent that Daphne is the Alpha in their relationship and Mollie is carefree and more outgoing and figures, ‘whatever’!

Both Daphne and Mollie are learning a few commands that will keep them safe and out of trouble. Being older, they are a bit stubborn, but their Foster Parents feel that with lots of love and a few treats they will make good progress.

Adopted- October, 2007

Babs (# 423) is one playful Pug who is extremely shy when meeting new folks, but warms up quickly. Babs gets along great with her foster brother and sister, as well as her human companions. She prefers women, but gets along with everyone. Her foster family is continuing to work with Babs on becoming completely potty accident free.  She sleeps in a crate at night. Babs is like velcro, as she'll attach herself and wherever you go, she'll be right there with you! She is a sweetheart!

Adopted - October, 2007

Summer (# 352) came to KPR with whip worms, hook worms, an eye infection, and heartworms. Once her heartworm treatment was completed, Summer was able to be spayed.  She is housebroken and her favorite thing to do is to sit on laps to watch TV or getting treats. Summer's foster family fell totally in love with Summer and have given her a forever home.

Hi! My name is Bart (#199). I am a black & white,  Pug / Boston Terrier mix. I have lost track of time, but I think I am 8 or 9 years old. I've been neutered and am up to date on all my shots. I have some arthritis in my spine, but I move very well. I like to cuddle with my sister and brothers and I like to give kisses to the humans. I like to play a little, but most of all I like snuggling up to my foster Mom & Dad. I am house broken and I will sleep in a crate if you like, but I really like sleeping out of the crate. I like sleeping on a soft couch or bed. I am much healthier now then when I was rescued. I will make someone a very good companion.

Dolly (# 171) was 8 weeks old when she came to KPR. Her mother was a pure blooded fawn pug and her father was a dark mysterious stranger!! She is all puppy and loves to play and loves to give kisses! She had an umbilical hernia that needed repair when she was spayed.

Adopted - September, 2007

Petey (#237) is a pug of undetermined parental background. One parent was a pug and we aren't sure of the breed of the other parent. He's got a funny bark, almost sounds as if one of those no-bark collars might have been used on him. He loves snuggling. I think he would be fine in a home with other dogs, he seems to enjoy the companionship and does not seemed bothered if he is not alpha. He does not really understand the concept of "playing", but likes being where you are.

Adopted - September, 2007

Meet Oscar (#432), a very sweet and cute 4 year old fawn male. Oscar has a lot of great qualities that would make him a perfect fit in just about any home. Not only does he get along great with kids and other dogs (like most dogs he will bark and chase cats), but he can walk on his hind legs both backwards and forwards for treats. Oscar's foster family indicates that he is a good listener and that he is playful. He likes to sleep in his foster parents bed and can be a cuddler when you want. Oscar is being crate trained, has been neutered and is current on all shots.

Pipsqueak

Below - Before Surgery

Pipsqueak (# 294) is a 13 week old Boston/Pug Mix, or Bug, puppy that was surrendered to us by his breeder. She surrendered him because he could not use one of his front legs.  It was deformed and did not hold his weight. The vet that initially saw Pip at only a few weeks old recommended that he be euthanized, as the breeder would not be able to sell him in this condition. Thank goodness, the breeder contacted KPR instead. He came into rescue when he was only 7 weeks old! We took him to an orthopedic veterinarian who told us that his arm had actually been broken in three places and his elbow joint had been crushed.

Pip had to undergo surgery to repair his broken bones and pin them together. The surgery was a BIG success!  The doctor was able to repair part of his elbow joint.  Pip is full of energy and is a typical puppy. He has not let his disability slow him down one bit! He loves to play tug and all kinds of games with his brother, Bo, and he is not above chewing on an ear or a tail once in a while, or chasing chickens. He loves to give you kisses and he loves to sit in a lap and be held and petted when he is tired! Pip is a typical baby! Everyone who has met this little guy has fallen completely in love with him!

Angel (aka Snuggles) (# 340) is a spayed, fawn female who will be 5 years old in December. She was surrendered because her owner was unable to pay for bladder stone removal surgery. She recovered from the surgery and will need to be kept on a special diet, long term, to prevent the recurrence of stones.  Angel had breathing difficulties, which caused her to not be able to run and play and enjoy life as much as she would like.  She had another surgery to correct stenotic nares (pinched nostrils). Angel is a very smart and loving pug. She is housebroken.  She knows commands such as lay down, stay, outside, go potty, go to bed, and no no.  Her foster family has lots of teenagers and they have friends stopping by all the time.  Angel greets everyone as if they are her long time friend.  She enjoys riding in the car and is very well behaved. Angel is crate trained. She will go in her crate and stay there without any fuss. She loves to play with toys. Angel does not do well with cats or birds. She has a foster pug sister and brother.  It took her awhile to get used to having pug siblings, but they get along really well with only a very minor scuffle now and again if she thinks they are getting more attention than she is. So, although Angel would be okay with other pugs, we believe her ideal home would be as an only pug.

Razzy (# 327) is a wonderful little guy that is learning about unconditional love. Razzy is 1 year old and weighs about 19 pounds. He is a little on the thin side and needs to gain a few pounds. He came to KPR suffering from a severe case of Demodex.  His former owners surrendered him because they couldn't afford his medical care.  Razzy felt so bad when he first came to the rescue.  He could barely hold his head up and his little belly was very hot.  The vet prescribed three medications and Razzy began having dip treatments to heal the Demodex.

Razzy is like the frog that turned into a Prince. He loves snuggling and will make a great companion for those days when you just want to relax and enjoy life. He is a bit shy around loud noises, but he is learning that he doesn't have to retreat at every little sound. If you have ever wanted to be the center of someone's world, you need Razzy. He does well with kids and cats, and gets along great with all his foster brothers and sisters. Razzy's foster family fell in love with him and they can't bear to think of him leaving, so his foster home has become his forever home. Razzy has a large family that loves him and he will never want for anything ever again.

Flopsy's Pals for Pugs

The Lindsey Crew

Flopsy  (# 322) is a pug mix that is estimated by the vet to be around 3 years old.  She is the sweetest, most gentle, calm little girl you could ever ask for!  She wants nothing more in life than to snuggle up with you and be by your side.  She has slept in her foster parent's bed from the first night, and has had no potty accidents. Flopsy is a smart girl too.  She learned to "sit" within the first 24 hours and responds to her name. Flopsy is fine with her foster parent's laid-back male pug, but very intimidated by their female shepherd mix.  She is fine with the foster's 5 year old child and their cat.  Flopsy came to KPR heartworm positive and had to be treated.  She was spayed when she was done with her heartworm treatments. Flopsy is a wonderful, sweet little girl who is an absolutely amazing dog for all that she's been through.

Brutus is an 18 month old Pug/Affenpinscher mix. He's very affectionate and loves to sit in your lap and have his belly rubbed. He knows "sit", "down", and "leave it" and is house trained. He's very much still a puppy and loves to play with toys and gets very excited when his foster parents get home from work and he gets to be out of the crate. He was allowed to stay out of the crate at his last home, but is doing fine being crated at night and while home alone. He always wants to be the center of your attention and doesn't believe you should be able to sit on the couch without petting him too. Brutus gets along with other dogs, though he seems to be a little greedy with his toys, and we're told that he gets along with cats and children as well. He is incredibly sweet and will make his new forever family very happy and shower them with affection.

Adopted - August, 2007

Winston (# 421) is a 7 year old black pug that is very lovable. When Winston came to KPR he had to be treated for a severe urinary tract infection. He has been neutered and brought up to date on all his shots. Winston loves his foster pug brother and his human foster sister, who's only 2-1/2, so he is great with kids!  He likes to play ball, get belly rubs and just be with people.

Hello! My name is Trooper! (# 328) I am approximately 2 years old.  I can't tell you where I have been or all I have been through in the last two years. I found found a nice house with a nice chair on the porch and I slept there for a couple of days. The lady that took me in called this rescue and you guys have really helped me out! I have a bad case of the mange, but my new vet is taking great care of me and says slowly but surely I should make a full recovery. I've lost a lot of hair and I itch really bad, but I feel a little better every day. Don't leave me alone for long though, because I miss you guys when you aren't around and... I cry. I can't wait to get better and go to one of those forever homes you guys talk about all the time! I've never had one, but they sound really great! I love to give kisses, love to be outside and go for walks.  I am crate trained and am coming along nicely in the potty training department.

Mollie (# 336) is a sweet 1 to 2 year old, 15 pound little girl.. She's up-to-date on all of her shots and spayed. The vet has given her a clean bill of health. She's only had a few accidents inside the house and is doing very well on housetraining. Mollie is all puppy at heart. She loves to play and run. She's good around kids and dogs. She's been very curious about the cat. I find her head inside the kitty door all the time. At this point, she's a nuisance to the cat but she hasn't hurt her. Mollie's an active pup with a big heart.

Buddy (#276) and Holly (#277) are a bonded pair that have been together forever! Buddy is fawn and is approx. 7 years old, weighing 28lbs! Holly is Black and is approx. 5 years old, weighing 18lbs! This pair is not used to having much freedom because they were kennel dogs, but they are loving it! Both puggies are working hard on potty training and have made great strides, they just need to be reminded! Buddy and Holly are very loving and seem to do well with other animals and children, and love to give kisses. They are also learning to love treats and lots of belly rubs. Overall these guys are very happy and healthy.

I am Noodle (#301)! I am about 2 years old and very energetic. I am what people call a Bugg, a boston terrier and pug mix. I am great with all people and have never met a stranger. I would do best in a house with one or two young larger dogs who likes to play constantly. Since I want to nip and chew (not in a mean way, but just being playful), I would do best in a home that does not have little children.  I love to run and play tug of war with toys. I want all the attention you can give me, and then more. If there are too many other pets to take my peoples attention away from me, I will push my way in front of the line, so I get all the attention. I will sleep in a crate at night, but prefer to be as close to my humans as possible. I have a cute bark to let you know I am close by. I am full of love and can noodle into your heart very fast.

My name is PUDGE and I am a very mannerly 5 year old fawn, neutered male. I arrived at my foster home and soon was enjoying playing with my new foster family's pug Lily, who is a 22 month old, fawn, spayed female.  After getting a bath and having my ears cleaned, I checked out the house and was soon deciding on which chair to call my own. I am adjusting well to both of my new foster parents, although I prefer to follow my foster-mom around, stay up with her until she goes to bed, and stay in bed until she decides to get up.

My foster-dad took me for a walk around the neighborhood and while new noises scare me I was assured that all will be well. I behave well on a leash, so I think we will be taking more walks in the future. Right now, I want to make sure that I get a lot of attention so I find myself being a bit protective, in a non-grouchy way, until I make sure that anyone coming in the house is a friend. I like to push myself to the front of the line to make sure that I get my recommended daily dose of attention. My Human Foster-sister came for a visit with her dog Twister, who is a 10-year old mixed-terrier and after a bit of smelling and checking each other out we all enjoyed a playful romp in the yard.

Pudge's foster family fell in love with him as soon as they saw him. He fits into their family perfectly, so the decision was made to make Pudge's foster home his forever home.

Meet Bob and Sassy!  Bob is a black 4 year old puggie boy and Sassy is 4 1/2 year old fawn girl.  They are a really bonded pair of super duper love Pugs. They came from an indoor home where their family was having medical problems with a child and they just could not spend much time with the pugs because they were at the hospital a lot.

Bob and Sassy are used to being adored house Pugs. They both have lovely manners and are housebroken. They love to spend time with people and love to cuddle on the couch. They have typical Puggie personalities and love to play and give kisses and eat.

Sassy is all Pug and loves everybody. She is a kissing, wiggling machine.  Bob is a little more hesitant until he gets to know you and then is quite the cuddle bug. Both Bob and Sassy comes with an extensive personal and medical backgrounds from their prior home.
They are a beautiful bonded pair of love Pugs waiting to join a forever home that will give them the time, caring and love they they deserve.

Bob and Sassy's new family absolutely adores them and are planning on having a party to introduce them to family and friends and raise awareness of KPR.

Daisy ( # 347) is a 1 /12 year old female pug. Daisy came to KPR from a loving family that could no longer care for her. Daisy now lives with her mom and her 27 pound cat brother named Q-Tip. Daisy runs the house and lets all visitors know who's boss! Her foster mom fell in love with her immediately and decided to make Daisy a permanent part of the family!

Jordan (#193) is a delightful pug about 4 years old. Jordan has had surgery to help open his nares; he also has a narrowed trachea (airway). Because of this, the vet has recommended he be placed in a home that is "laid back" so Jordan does not need to keep up with anybody. As long as he keeps his own pace, he does absolutely fantastic! He would do best with an older, calmer dog; he would be great for someone trying to find a pal for an older dog. While he does great with kids, he would also benefit from older kids who understand not to play too hard with him. Don't let any of this concern you; there is no reason to believe he won't live a long healthy and happy life as long as he can pace himself. He is housebroken, loving, easy mannered, and just wants your love!  Jordan's foster brother, Oscar, loves Jordan so much, that he became a permanent part of the family.

Adopted - August, 2007

Bert (# 416) is a 4 yr. old male.  He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Bert likes other dogs, but likes to join in the pack activities on his own time. He has always been on his own and would make a great "only" dog, but he also gets along well with other dogs and is curious about cats. Bert has an allergy to beef, corn, and wheat foods and will need to be kept on his special diet. As long as he stays on his food and gets no table scraps, he does not have any problems. Bert is housebroken, but needs to be kept on a regular schedule. He loves to sleep with his foster parents in the bed and is a loving sweet boy.

Adopted - August, 2007

Gallagher's Pals for Pugs

The Lindsey Crew

Gallagher, (#307) a handsome little man at the tender age of 9 months is actually a puggle. He is willing to be your play time buddy any hour of the day or night and takes great pleasure in just being by your side when it’s time to relax. If you like getting kisses, you will love getting them from him as he wraps his arms around your neck and makes you feel like the best person on the face of this Earth. This cheerful little guy gets along with everyone he meets and has yet to meet a stranger. Even though Gallagher may never win a ribbon for breed confirmation, the family that invites him into their home is sure to have a Champion in their heart.

Both Oscar and Merci came to KPR with a skin condition caused by a severe case of Demodex.  They are on the road to recovery and are already looking and feeling so much better. Merci and Oscar both enjoy snuggling and give very inspirational kisses. They delight in spending time running free outside within an enclosed area where their puppiness can be unleashed.

Adopted - July, 2007

Gracie (#278) is a 4 year old female pug who was surrendered because her family did not have time to care for her. She has allergies, but is getting proper care and is doing MUCH better. Gracie is the sweetest little girl! She absolutely LOVES people, especially children. She loves to sleep under the covers at night, or burrow her way into a stack of pillows or a blanket. Her favorite activity is to lie down beside you and take a nap! She is completely housebroken and is also crate trained, although at night she would prefer to sleep with the people. She does not like to be bothered while she is eating. She also is not keen on sharing any toys that she has in her mouth with the other dogs. She is fine if we (the people) take the toy, but if one of the other dogs tries to take it she will issue a warning noise.

Adopted - July, 2007

Tyson (# 413) is a 5 1/2 year old male who was surrendered to us because his family's lifestyle had changed and they no longer had time for him. Piggy knows commands like, sit and will "dance" for a treat (carrot). She has had a history of bladder crystals in the past, but is currently managing just fine with her strict diet of Science Hill C/D. She can not have regular dog treats, but the vet stated she can have carrots. Of course, she absolutely LOVES carrots!! She is good with other dogs, cats and children. She grew up in a household with six children, ranging from totter to 12 years of age, so she's used to all the excitement associated with a big family. Piggy was surrendered to KPR because the family was not able to give her the attention that she needed.

Mia's Pals for Pugs

Harriet & Miss Sally Bobbin

PJ (aka Mia) is a 6 1/2 month old female pug. At 4.5 lbs, she is not only cute as a button but not much bigger than one either. Don't let her size fool you, she is full of Pug Puppy Power! She plays non stop with toys and her foster kitties and doggies. She loves to sit in your lap and give kisses. She is pee pad trained. She has experienced three incidents of rectal prolapse which is currently being treated with two tablespoons of 100% pumpkin a day. This condition will require further monitoring to determine if surgery is needed. Mia loves to eat, so getting her to eat pumpkin is as easy as getting her foster mom to eat chocolate. She also has luxating patellas which may resolve as she grows but will also require additional veterinary evaluation to determine if further treatment is necessary. Mia is now known as PJ and is enjoying her new Lexington, KY family.

Mikey (#177) and Bailey (#178) came to KPR as a bonded pair of Love Pug's. Their exact ages are unknown, but are estimated to be 9 to 10 years old.  Weighing in around 16 pounds, these girls can fit on the smallest of laps. These two ladies are packed full of life and are sure to put a smile on your face as they engage in a match of pug play antics.  Mickey has mild visual impairment and Bailey is slightly hard of hearing, but it sure doesn't stop them from enjoying life!  They both love to go for walks and find great pleasure in an enclosed area where they can explore the beautiful sights of nature all around them. The girls take great pleasure in acting like fuzzy neck warmers throughout the night. They are generally very quiet and have that certain appeal to them, that makes you want to just hug and kiss on them every moment you can.

Adopted - May, 2007

Rosie (#280) is a female pug who was found wandering a major highway in Indiana and was picked up by a kind policeman. We are unsure of her age, but the vet estimates her to be somewhere in the 8-10 year old age range. She had a tattoo of a number in her ear, so we know in her former life she was a breeder, kept in a cage and nothing but a number, most likely abandoned when she was no longer useful in producing pups. She LOVES her new life as a treasured and loved part of a family. Her foster family reports that she is absolutely the sweetest pug they have ever fostered. She has learned that she LOVES treats, likes to lie on the sofa and follow her foster mom around to see what is going on. She loves to be wherever the people are, and is good with ALL family members, cats, other dogs, and children. Rosie joined her new Louisville, KY family, including her new brothers and sisters, among them KPR adoptees; Will, Idgie and Molly Sue.

She does not mind cats at all, and she loves kids of all ages. She loves cookies too! Babe is now a Western KY pug and living in the lap of luxury with the Florence family and several other rescued family members.

Reggie came to KPR from a local animal shelter where he was deemed  not adoptable. He was surrendered by his owners who claimed he was aggressive and after failing the  temperament test, the staff agreed. Fortunately, a KPR volunteer was able to convince the Shelter staff to surrender Reggie to KPR. He is a happy go lucky, smiling faced pug! Not a bad bone in his body. He is the consummate Public Relations Pug...so we call him RP The PR PUG!  He loves affection and loves to cuddle right up next to you. He is great with other dogs and all people. His favorite treat is a Starbucks Pup Cup (cup of whipped cream).

Adopted - May, 2007

Meet Emma (#196) and Dolly (#197)! Emma is 4 and Dolly is 1 year old. They are the sweetest little girls you could ever meet! They came from a very loving home. Little Dolly is a wiggler! She was a little uneasy and scared with her new surroundings, but seemed more at ease with the other babies in the back yard. Emma's and Dolly's foster home became their forever home.  They join former KPR adoptee Ike Lee and the family's other pug.

Adopted - May, 2007

Jasmine is a 1 1/2 year old fawn, female pug.  She is very energetic. She's defiantly a typical pug puppy!!  She does appear to have some separation anxiety, but some of this could be from her adjusting to her new surroundings. Although she is energetic, she is gentle with young children and gets along well with other dogs. She is very curious of cats...she's not aggressive just wants to play.  Jasmine is housebroken. She has not yet learned how to alert someone that she has to potty, but a regular routine will fix this issue just fine. She is a bundle of joy and has a lot of love to share.

Adopted - May, 2007

Colby (#194) is a male pug that is estimated to be 4 years old.  Before coming to KPR, he had lived outside his entire life, so he is very happy to be getting lots of love and attention now.  Colby is small, weighing just 16 lbs.  He's working on housetraining and is just enjoying his new life, running and playing.

Adopted - May, 2007

Sammy (#259) is an AKC certified male pug who will turn 3 years old in July. Sammy does well with adults, but does not like children. He also has issues with other dogs from time to time. His rear legs and/or hip seem to give him trouble occasionally. He truly is an extremely affectionate dog and fun to have around.

Adopted - May, 2007

Smootchie (#295) is the sweetest, most affectionate pug. He firmly believes that you can't go anywhere without him, and that you're not safe unless he is cuddled against you. He is 4 1/2 years old and weighs 24 pounds. Smootchie is not food aggressive and he gets along with all the other fosters. If let outside regularly he does not make any mistakes in the house. Smootchie knows his name and would probably come when he was called, but since he is already with you he doesn't need to be called. Smootchie only wants to cuddle, eat, sleep and cuddle some more.

Adopted - April, 2007

Chica (#195) is an all black female pug. The vet estimates that she is between 4 and 5 years of age. She is full of energy and absolutely loves children. Chica enjoys being walked on her leash and playing with her toy animals. Chica's foster home became her forever home because the family couldn't bear to part with her.

Hobo (#304 black male) and Midge (#305 fawn female), a bonded pair, come to KPR through a Humane Society. They get along great with other dogs and cats. They love to play, especially with stuffed animals. When they are tired of playing they love to curl up on your lap or with each other and take a little nap.

Midge, who is 2 years old, is a very petite little lady weighing in at 14 1/2 pounds. She has a luxating patella on her rear right leg that the vet says it not bad enough for surgery. She will need to be put on a joint maintenance drug if it worsens. Midge has already been spayed. Hobo, who is 3, has the most adorable little under bite. He weighs 17 1/2 pounds and is on the thin side and needs to gain some weight. He also, loves to sleep on your lap or watch TV with you. Midge is the more active of the pair. They are doing very well on their house breaking and learning to go outside.

Hi...My name is Mr. Buster Man (#279). I was found in a shelter down south and some very kind people in KPR came to get me. I am a very special boy with some very special problems. The people at KPR knew right away what a different and special boy I was. I have neurological problems. That is just a really fancy way to say that I walk, eat, move and do everything in a really unique way. I am very sensitive and need to be touch very softly or I fall over on my back. I run into things and it is difficult for me to control my muscles sometimes. I have problems getting everything to move in the right direction. I spent one night with some very nice people...The Lindseys. They thought that I was a truly handsome boy and deserved a home where someone could take care of my special needs. I went to live at a veterinarians house where they don't think I am to different. They love me just the way I am. My new mommy calls me her Buster Man and hugs me very tight and I think that is neat. I get special food on a special carpet and they feed me with a fork. They take very good care of me. I have two KPR Pug sisters Puddin' and Petula and some human ones too! They spoil me and carry me around and treat me like a baby, but don't tell anyone...He! He! Because I am suppose to be a manly Pug. Thank you KPR for finding me a home where someone could take care of my special needs and love me even though I am a unique kind of guy!

Hi...My name is Puddin (#268) . I came to KPR through a kind hearted citizen that rescued me from a nasty animal auction in Pennsylvania. The kind volunteers from KPR drove all the way there to get me and bring me back to Indiana. I have very deformed hips and knees that make it very difficult for me to walk. I am such a pleasant and fun girl to be around that the veterinarian and his wife that saw me on referral decided to make me their forever Pug. I love to snuggle and play with toys. I love to eat. I am also very vocal and like to talk to you! Someday I might end up in a cart because the surgeries to correct my hips and knees might not be successful, but my new forever family says that is ok because they love me just the way I am. I am a very lucky girl!!

Hi...My name is Petula (#283). KPR found me in a shelter after someone called and informed them that there was a cute little girl Pug there with an injured eye. It was so bad that it had to be taken out. I had been bred a lot and made nice puppies for someone, even though I was very tiny and had no business being bred, and they just left me and my ouchie eye at the shelter with no medical attention. They were not very nice to me and I was very scared every time someone touched me. I visited the same veterinarian that my sister Puddin saw and they liked me a lot. They thought I would make a good sister for Puddin, so I am now their forever Pug too! I liked that a lot! I am a real snuggle bug and love lots of attention. I am much better about being touched and loved. I am getting heavier now, because I am getting plenty to eat. My coat is much shinier and all the scabs are gone. I like to play with my sister. I am always going to be a tiny girl, but big things come in small packages. My new family calls me their "Fun Size Pug!" Thank you KPR for finding me a home where I can be the Princess I really deserve to be!

Adopted - April, 2007

Chubby (#270) was surrendered to KPR after his owner suddenly passed away and no one was able to care for this wonderful boy. For about three weeks after his owner's death, Chubby was staying in his home all alone, except for occasional visits from family members to let him out and to feed him. Thank goodness Chubby had an angel to watch out for him by the name of Carey. Carey found KPR so this boy could have a second chance on a forever home. His foster mom immediately took a liking to him. His foster home soon became his forever home. Chubby is now living with six pug brothers and a pug sister. They are all known as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs among the Kirk-Potter household.

Adopted - March, 2007

Annabella Marie #192, is a petite little lady weighing in around 16 pounds. She is going prematurely gray. She will be four years old on October 1. Bella is very smart and knows several tricks: sit, lay down, roll over, high five and she also knows how to dance!! Bella is paper trained and is learning to go outside. She is catching on quickly. So far she has had no accidents in the house. She loves being the center of your universe and feels that the attention she is getting is her due. She is an alpha, but a "wise" alpha. She does not start fights, but will not back down when her foster brother tries to bully her. Even though he is twice her size, he is very intimated by this little spitfire.

Adopted - March, 2007

Emma (#273) and Lola (#274) are adorable 2-3 year old healthy pugs. Their owner recently died and they were surrendered to KPR. Emma is fawn color and Lola is black with a white spot on chest. They get along together very well...very loving of each other and never any fighting over the food bowl or anything like that. They are good with other pets and children. They are very, very affectionate. They love to be in your lap or next to you on the couch - will roll over and ask for a belly scratching... or crawl all over you giving kisses. They also love to sleep with you (oh yes, in the bed) They are sweethearts!

Adopted - April, 2007

Big Daddy (#175) is estimated to be 8-9 years old. If a velcro pug is what you are looking for, Big Daddy is the perfect companion for you. He is ready for a nap, snuggle or a trip around town at a moments notice. Due to his limited vision he does take a little time getting familiar with his new surroundings, but, once he figures out where the food is, he is ready to get comfortable. Big Daddy is generally a quiet gentleman, but has been known to voice his concerns on occasion. Big Daddy has learned that the big (human) bed is a very nice place to relax and loves to sleep the night away right by your side.

Adopted - March, 2007

Idgie (#181), a Boston Terrier, and Will (#180), a pug, came from a loving home and were surrendered because of the owner's extensive travel schedule with her job. Idgie is very energetic and she loves to play with toys. Will is more laid back and is content just being loved on. They are both 4 and a half years old and have been together since they were puppies and will be adopted together.

Adopted - March, 2007

Mac (#253), now known as Hank, is approximately 7 years old. He was surrendered by his former owner as she was moving and couldn't take him with her. Mac has adjusted to his new foster family just fine - he's getting along great with their kids and other dogs and family pets. Mac is blind in his right eye from a previous eye injury and requires eye drops. His most important features are that he is very friendly, loving and listens well. His foster family crates him at night and during the day while they are at work.

Adopted - March, 2007

Skittles (#157) is an approximately 8 year old female. Skittles has a bad back and came to KPR with a breast infection which she was treated for. She loves everyone and gets along very well with the other dogs.

Adopted - March, 2007

Meet Pippin, Pip (#256) for short. This handsome little guy is about a year and a half old and is all Pug! We don't know much of his story, but he is housebroken, knows how to "sit" ( forget about stay!) and LOVES his new Pug brothers and treats! He is a happy, friendly little fellow who seems to have missed out on some lovin in his young life and is more than happy to make up for it now. He is inquisitive, charming and downright delightful!

Adopted - March, 2007

Bobo (#133) fawn pug, and Rocky (#132) a pug-mix,  were surrendered to a shelter when their owner, who was homeless could no longer care for them. The vet estimates that they are both at least 10 years old. They are both in good health, and Rocky does not act at all like he is a senior dog. Rocky is a pug-mix and is very loving. He is likes to follow you around when he feels like it, otherwise he claims his spot on the chair as a couch potato. Sometimes he gets a little jealous of his foster parents 4 other dogs, as he wants all of their attention! Bobo is going blind, but that does not stop him from getting around quite well. He is the most well adjusted, loving dog his foster mom has ever met. Bobo likes to sit on your lap and snuggle, or he is content to nap on one of the many dog beds throughout the house. He does not like going up or down the steps inside the house, but does fine with the ones from the deck to the yard. He is working on his diet, as he needs to loose a few pounds. He tries his hardest to go for a walk, but has troubles keeping up after a few minutes. Rocky on the other hand, loves to take walks and runs around like a much younger dog. Both are working on their house manners, as they probably are not used to being in a home, since their owner was homeless. They are learning very quickly, although they do sometimes need to wear belly bands in the house. At night they either sleep with their foster families two legged children, or in their dog bed. They do very well with free run of the house. Bobo and Rocky are very good to one another, although sometimes Rocky's jealousy makes him snarl at Bobo, and then they snuggle up together!

Adopted - March, 2007

Pugsley (#250) – I am 9-10 months old Pug mix and someday I will be a great dog. However, right now I am still a pup and do all the usual things that pups do! I am full of energy and I bark. In fact playing is the one thing I am great at, I keep going like the pink bunny on the TV!  My only problem is that my foster mom says I play too rough (just ask my foster brother Sparky) I know what the word NO means, but honestly I am so young I just don’t listen. I know how to use the doggy door and have few accidents. I will go anywhere with you, I love to travel in the car and best of all I behave while riding.

Meet Bunny (#189). She hopped into the rescue and is a real sweetheart! She is 11 months old, and although is high energy, she gets along well with other dogs and cats, and is always willing to stop playing to give you lots of kisses.

Adopted - February, 2007

Gunther (#188) is a 2 year old male who came to KPR via an animal shelter where he arrived due to a family medical crisis. He has been checked by a vet and appears to have been well cared for and in excellent health. He does well around children and we think he's okay with cats. Gunther gets along fine with his foster brother. He needs a little work on his housebreaking routine. Otherwise he is playful, loves to sit on your lap, and follows you everywhere.

Adopted - February, 2007

Jake (#240) is a 2 year old puggle who was found wandering the rural roads in northern Indiana. He was lucky that the people who found him were neighbors of one of our volunteers and took him to her. Jake is up to date on all vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on preventative, also on flea control, and is neutered. Jake is housebroken. He is a very sweet, mellow, calm boy who loves to follow his foster mom around, and cuddle with her on the couch. He loves to play ball and ride in the car. He is a bit of an escape artist, so whoever adopts him will need to either have a fenced in yard or keep him on a leash at all times.

Adopted - February, 2007

Gilly (#266) is a 20 month female who recently had puppies in November. Previous owners reported she is 11 lbs. She is very cute, cuddly, and affectionate. She first comes across as somewhat timid, but warms up very quickly. She is soon to be spayed and updated on her shots on the 29th. She loves to sit on your lap and cuddle. She gets along well with other dogs, cats, and children but she is somewhat protective when it comes to her food bowl.

Max's Pals for Pugs

Don & Claudette Snyder

Max (#227) is a sweet, 9 year old guy who is very laid back and has never met a stranger.  He gets along great with his foster family's dogs and cats.  He is up to date on all his medical care and has no medical issues.  He did have 11 teeth taken out awhile ago, which allows his tongue to hang to the side, giving him some extra gentlemanly character.  Max was originally owned by someone who abused him and then by someone who overfed him to try to make up for all the abuse he had suffered.  When his last owner got him, he was so obese that he could barely walk.  She put him on a diet and made him over into his current healthy shape.  She loved him a lot, but just couldn't give him the attention he deserved, as she is a full-time student and is working two part-time jobs.  Max would love to live with someone who is home a lot or where he would have a pug sibling to keep him company.

Adopted - February, 2007

Little Roscoe (#247) is a 2-3 year old, 16 lb. neutered male, that was “rescued” from a person that had too many dogs on her property. He has adjusted wonderfully to living inside of a home. Little Roscoe is almost housebroken but has had a few accidents. He is a happy-go-lucky active boy that loves to be in the middle of everything and wants ALL of the attention. He would do better in a home with another dog since he loves to play and chase his foster brothers and sisters. He doesn’t mind cats and loves to chew on cow hoofs and stuffed toys. He had an untreated eye injury that has been nursed back to health and now you can hardly notice. He loves to go for walks but has to stay on a leash if not in a fenced yard.

Adopted - February, 2007

Darlin (#182) is a three year old fawn female and her name suits her perfectly! She is very short and weighs in at 16 1/2 pounds. Darlin' was a surrender from a very ethical breeder who is retiring all of her dogs. Darlin' loves nothing better than to sit beside you and keep you company. Darlin' is very gentle and great with children and other dogs.

Adopted - February, 2007

Maypelle, pronounced Maple, (#183) is five months old. She was born August 15 of last year. She was surrendered by an ethical breeder who decided to retire all of her dogs. She is a lot of pug in a tiny package. Maypelle weighs in at just 4 1/2 pounds, but don't let her size fool you. She can "RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS".

Adopted - January, 2007

Otis (#174) is a pug mix of a mixture unknown! He is as sweet as he is cute. He gets along with his foster pugs great. He's a rambunctious little 8 month old who is ready and willing to be your number one guy! Otis is housebroken already and will even scratch on the door when he is ready to come back inside!  He loves children and loves to play.

Adopted - January, 2007

Joshua (#165) is an approximately 6 year old Pug full of character who is guaranteed to put a smile on your face as he prances around like the prince that he is. He has a limited amount of vision, however, you would never know it unless someone told you. He loves to find his foster siblings and chase them through the house. Joshua is house trained as long as he is given enough time to enjoy the sounds and smells of the world around him while he finds just the right spot.

Adopted - January, 2007

Parker (#176) is an approximately 3 year old pug that is playful, friendly and lovable with lots of personality. He is a big snuggler. He loves to lay next to you while you watch tv or read. He will bring you his toy for a quick game of fetch. He travels well and is good with both cats and dogs. He walks well on a leash. He is housebroken and knows and few commands and could easily learn more. He would do well a home with or without other furbabies. He has excellent manners and knows that he will get a treat in return!

Adopted - January, 2007

Sammy (#262) is an 11 month old pug who found his way to KPR because of a divorce. He is a very loving little fellow who still has a whole lot of puppy left in him! He loves his foster brother and made himself right at home the moment he stepped in the door.

Adopted - January, 2007

Eddie (#263) is a one to two year old who came to us by way of the animal shelter in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was removed from his home by the county animal control, we do not know what circumstances caused this. We think Eddie may have been kept outside, and tied up. At first, he was not sure how to act in his foster home, but it didn't take him long to figure out that the sofa is a nice place to sit, treats are pretty darn tasty and that he likes to sleep with his foster mom! He has not bothered the cats, and he loves other dogs. He will be great in a home with other dogs and/or children to play with, he loves to run!! Due to the circumstances that he came from, Eddie was not completely potty trained when he came to us, but has made great progress and does not have accidents when he is kept on a schedule.
