Buddy (#162) is an 8 year old male. He is laid-back and mellow, however, he maintains a playful side. He is partially deaf and mostly blind but he adjusts well to new surroundings. He is good with other dogs and cats, but usually just wants to be with humans. He is housebroken and only marked once since being in a new home. Buddy is very friendly and sweet and just wants to give and receive love.

Adopted - December, 2006

Chloe is a 2 year old pug.  She loves to play and gets along with other pugs.  She's housetrained and is just as sweet as can be.

Adopted - December, 2006

Jack (#173) is my name and I am 3 years old. My family said I had to leave because the kids were allergic to me. We were all very sad to part, but I don't want to make my family sick any more. So now I am a foster pug looking for a new forever home. I am up to date on all shots and neutered. My birthday is February 8, 2003. I understand sit, stay, and kennel up means hop in my crate for bed time. I was an only pet so having foster brothers is a bit strange, but I am doing well. I have a stuffed toy that I must keep with me. It is old and tatty, but I can't part with it.

Adopted - December, 2006

Kleo (#170) is a fawn female less than a 1 year old. She is doing good on using the potty outside.  She doesn't care much for the crate and would rather sleep in bed with her foster parents.  Kleo's hip was fractured when she was a baby and it has never healed, so she was only using it 20% and had to have surgery to correct the problem.

Adopted - December, 2006

Holly (#257) is approx. 3 years old and weighs 27 pounds. She has the softest fur, loves to play with other dogs (don't know about cats).  She is completely housebroken and loves to play with kids.  Sometimes she comes across as timid and skittish, but she warms up quickly!  She knows how to sit and is learning how to shake. You say let's go and she's ready for a walk or a car ride.  One of her favorite things is having her belly rubbed.

Adopted - December, 2006

Starlett (#144) is a beautiful fawn female whose past is a mystery. She was found wandering the streets and a kind person took her in. She is a real little cuddler and loves to lay on your bed. She also loves to play with her foster sister, Emma Grace. Star has a little bit of separation anxiety, but her foster Mom is hoping as time goes by, this will be less of a problem.

Adopted - December, 2006

Curley (#152) and Gizmo (#153) are a male and female bonded pair. Curley (photo on top) is a 5 year old male whose owner rescued him from a breeder who was going to have him put to sleep because of his eye. Curley had his eye removed when he was two weeks old. He is a big boy weighing around 27 pounds, but he is all muscle and does not need to lose weight. He loves everyone and is very friendly and gets along well with other dogs.

Gizmo is an approximately 9 year old female. She has a VERY womanly figure and MUST lose a few pounds. Gizmo is very loving and gets along with other dogs, but she does NOT do well with cats. Neither dogs have any issues that we are aware of and this was a very loving surrender due to life changes that their owner had. Anyone who adopts them will be very fortunate and be rewarded with lots of love and puggie kisses!!

Adopted - December, 2006

Roxanne (#166) is six months old and comes to KPR by way of an all breed rescue. Roxanne's special angel, whose name is Robin, pulled her from an animal shelter when her owner surrendered her due to her Demodex.

Adopted - December, 2006

Molly Sue (#179) is wonderful!! It didn't take very long at all for her tail to be up and wagging. She is very laid back and sweet. It appears that she is housebroken too, because she goes to the door. She is a plus size girl so she is going to put on a diet. She is used to eating anytime and was being given table scraps...so she is very cushy. She really is beautiful and has the most wonderfully precious under bite.  Molly Sue is the puggie on the far right!

Adopted - December, 2006

Prince Valiant (#103) is an approx. 8 year old, male pug.  He is so smart and LOVES to get treats! Prince will talk to you by barking and making other kinds of sounds. He gives kisses and follows his foster mom wherever she goes.  He likes to snuggle on the couch while she watches tv and would prefer to sleep in bed with his foster parents, but he sleeps in the laundry room with the other pugs.  He has no health problems.  He needs to wear a belly band in the house whenever he is not supervised.

Adopted - December, 2006

Charlotte (#161) is a very sweet little 4 year old girl. She likes kids, gets along with cats & dogs. She is housetrained and a wonderful little girl. The foster mom has not had any problems with this little sweetie since the day we picked her up. She is protective over our little pug, and loves to play with the other pugs & her toys. She is not food aggressive, however, she is kissing aggressive!!! She loves to give kisses!!

Adopted - December, 2006

Bosha's Pals for Pugs

The Lindsey Crew

Bosha (#123) is the pug-mix in the front of the photo.  She was taken to a shelter in Madisonville when her previous owner was put in a nursing home. Bosha is approximately 4 years old. Her mother is a pug (CC #122) and we guess that her dad could have been a beagle. Bosha definitely has part Beagle in her as she enjoys chasing anything that moves outside and loves to run. She would do better with a fenced in yard where she can run free, right now she is being taken outside on a leash and her foster mom is getting lots of exercise with her!

Adopted - December, 2006

CC's Pals for Pugs

The Lindsey Crew

CC (#122) is the pug in the back of the photo.  She was taken to a shelter in Madisonville when her previous owner was put in a nursing home.  CC is estimated to be over 10 years old, is sweet and kind, and just wants to be loved. CC is more of a cuddler and loves belly rubs and attention. She will require eye drops for the rest of her life since she does not produce tears and her eyes dry out. She is slightly blind, but that does not stop this little girl from getting around. CC is slightly older than her foster moms senior pugs, and she does circles around them, so do not let her age scare you. She is perfectly healthy and very active for a senior pug.

Adopted - December, 2006

Ruby (#252) is a 7-8 yr. old pug who comes to KPR from a shelter in Northwest Indiana. Ruby is micro chipped and spayed.  She came to KPR with a urinary tract infection and received treatment.  Ruby's foster homes says she loves to walk on her leash and she does good around young children (4yrs old) and all other animals including bigger dogs. She sleeps in her foster parents bed all night calmly. Ruby is very good about going out, but likes to be with you when she is out. She is a very loving pug that loves to be near everyone she comes across.

Adopted - December, 2006

Bernadette (#143) is a 19 pound, 6 year old black pug that has had many puppies. She is very well behaved and likes to sit around and lounge. Bernie has a slight limp on her back leg but the vet said all was well. She is timid around people, especially men, but gets along well with other dogs and is very good with kids.

Adopted - December, 2006

Patches (#243 F red harness) and Max (#244 M black collar) are a bonded brother and sister pair. These two came to KPR from a hospice situation. They are both about 20 lbs and smaller framed. Max is very friendly. Patches is more chilled out and does her own thing. These two are not far from each other ever! Both are friendly and happy and just want to be on your lap!!!

Adopted - December, 2006

Emma and Betsy are a bonded pair of young females that were surrendered by a breeder. They are both shy, but Besty warms up quickly, and although it does take Emma a lot longer, she will eventually come around. They are both housebroken, and they both love to play - they still have a lot of puppy in them! They are also both very sweet and love to cuddle up with their foster mom on the sofa, Emma especially loves to lie on a pillow!

Adopted - December, 2006

Ollie (#136) is a 6 year old puggie girl who loves to be with you. She was a "little" overweight when she came to KPR, but has lost some of those unwanted pounds.  She had to have surgery for an elongated soft palate and stenotic nares.  She also had to have two tumors removed.  Ollie barks a lot, mostly at her foster brothers and sister. She is great with kids and house broken. She is the best dog anyone could ask for.

Adopted - December, 2006

Oscar (#232) is a 5 year old 25 lb. male that was rescued from a shelter. He is a very sweet pug and looks forward to walks. He is crate trained, but would rather be out with the rest of the pugs. Oscar is housebroken and gets along great with other dogs. He is very affectionate and doesn’t want you out of his sight. He is being treated for allergies on his skin. He has pigmentary keratitis that is secondary to dry eye which will require daily drops in his eyes. He has lost some sight in his eyes but can see some things and gets along just fine.

Adopted - November, 2006

Rowdy (#102) weighs just 17 lbs and is full of puggy activity and kisses. He obeys commands and is crate trained, however he does love to snuggle in your bed!  He came to KPR with marking problems, but he has now been neutered and no longer marks and therefore does not need to wear a belly band.  Rowdy wants to sleep in bed with you. He is full of pug love and wants to be beside you everywhere you go.

Adopted - November, 2006

Baby Girl (#101) is a petite 14 lbs. and very quiet at first. She is the sweetest, gentlest soul.  She is fully house trained.  Baby Girl is shy and does not like to be picked up.  But, once she gets to know you, she sticks to you like glue.  She will not eat when other dogs are watching.  She barks and growls until they have left the room.  She has her quirks, but is full of love.

Adopted - November, 2006

Charlie (#229) is an owner surrender who had been an outside dog most of his life. He just turned two on June 29th. He came to the rescue Heartworm Positive. He took the treatments like a real champ.  He is in excellent health now.  Charlie LOVES his new life as an indoor dog. He absolutely adores to be petted and loved on!

Adopted - October, 2006

Tottie or Tata (#147) is a fawn female approximately 6 years old. She is a little lover and wants to be with you. She has spent her life as a breeder dog and is really enjoying knowing what a family and being loved unconditionally is all about. She's house trained, amazingly, she really lets you know when she's gotta go. She does great with other dogs and cats. She's kinda iffy about little kids.  She doesn't know the basic commands like, sit or stay.  Tottie just wants to be LOVED on, that's her only reasons in life is to be loved on. Tottie is a great family dog, she just wants all the love in the world.

Adopted - October, 2006

Below -
When Violet first came to KPR

Violet (#100) was apparently used as a breeder dog and when she could no longer make any money for her owner, was turned lose in a busy town on a cold day. Violet's age is unknown, but she is definitely a senior dog. She is blind, but does well finding her way around.  When Violet came to KPR she had heartworms. She went through Heartworm treatment. Violet also had breast tumors removed. She is a feisty little girl who is definitely an alpha and always wants to be part of the action. She is very sweet and loving and likes to snuggle in your lap like a baby. She soaks up all the attention she can get.

Adopted - October, 2006

Franklin (#246) is just under 2 years old and is a complete lover boy. He came to KPR from a very loving situation. His owner, a nurse, was working so many hours a day and felt that Franklin wasn't getting the attention he deserved. Franklin is now getting all sorts of attention, especially from his new gal pal, Diva.

Adopted - October, 2006

Elliott (#146) is an adorable black male Pug. He is approx. 5 years old and 20 pounds. He gets along great with other pets, and loves children. He is extremely affectionate and loves the company of a family. Elliot was Heartworm Positive and was treated successfully.

Purdy (#154) is a nine month old fawn female. She came to KPR with a localized case of demodex which she was treated for.

Adopted - October, 2006

Gracie (#160) was born with Demodex in April, 2005. She was originally surrendered to KPR last year and came to us with no hair. Gracie underwent treatments for Demodex and no longer has any problems with it. She was adopted by a very loving KPR family. Gracie has developed into a MAJOR alpha and cannot be in a household with other dogs. Gracie is leash trained, crate trained, potty trained and loves children. She loves people and being around them. Gracie weighs approx. 15 pounds and is a petite little gal.

Adopted - October, 2006

Ike Lee (#141) is a nine year old bundle of love and energy. He was a breeder dog in his past life and now he is ready for the life he deserves. He weighs approximately 16 pounds. Ike LOVES to give kisses and  gets along great with other dogs.

Adopted - September, 2006

Lily's Pals for Pugs

Lily Harper

Lily or Leah (#142) is an 8 year old female. She weighs approximately 14 pounds. She was used by a breeder, so she is loving all the attention she is getting in her foster home. Lily just wants to be close by you and follow you everywhere you go. Lily gets along great with other dogs, she is just so grateful for everything she has now.

Adopted - September, 2006

Max (#113) & Cleo (#112) came to KPR due to a divorce.  They will both turn 5 this year and are a bonded couple.  Cleo has the darker face.  Max is very laid back and sweet and likes to give kisses and Cleo is a very good girl.  They are crate trained and like to sleep in their crates at night with the doors open.  Sometimes they sleep in one crate together.  All & all very good puggies, both follow you everywhere & will give you all the love they can.

Adopted - September, 2006

Molly (#150) is a beautiful fawn female, 4 1/2 years old. Her best weight is about 14-15 pounds, but she is overweight right now (probably 17). Molly loves to sit on a lap and be loved. She can be quite the clown. She is good with other dogs and won't try to start a fight, but won't back down if someone starts something with her. She has squabbled a lot with the other female pug in her household, but she wasn't the one to start it. She is also fine with children. She needs a new home because her owner's family just had a premature baby, and can't give her all the love she needs. She has always been in a family home. She is housebroken, but is accustomed to having a doggie door.  She does also walk well on a leash.

Adopted - September, 2006

Kipper's Pals for Pugs

Diane & William Lindsey

Kipper (#125) is about 6 months old. She is the daughter of another KPR rescued pug, Bosha...and grandaughter of KPR CC. She is 1/4 pug.  Kipper gets along great with other dogs. She hasn't been exposed to children or cats during her foster care, but given her sweet personality, she will do great in a home with either. She will make a very good dog for an active family as she loves to play with toys and her foster dad.

Adopted - September, 2006

Amy (#220) is named after the KPR volunteer that saved her.  She is a 5 year old puggle that was rescued from a shelter in Indianapolis. Amy had been in the shelter for two months and her time was running out. She was part of a bonded pair and the shelter adopted out her litter mate without her. Amy was injured from a car accident and the shelter did not have the funds to make her better. Fearing permanent damage to her leg and the inevitable clock ticking, a KPR volunteer rescued her from the shelter. Another happy ending for a shelter dog that was lonely and hurting.

Adopted - September, 2006

Shorty  (#118) and Lucy (#117) are a bonded pair of Pugs. Shorty is a very handsome neutered male about 4 ˝ years old and a very sweet and gentle fellow. He loves attention and affection, loves to play with and “nurse” on a fuzzy toy and most of all he loves Lucy. Lucy is a very petite, spayed female almost 2 years old. She too is very sweet and loves to play with Shorty. They both get along very well with other dogs and also with children but would prefer to sit in a lap soaking up lots of love.

Adopted - September, 2006

Rodney (previously Tuesday) (#238) is a lovable 2 year (age estimated) old male puggle that was pulled from a shelter in Central Indiana the day he was to be put down. We're not sure why he ended up at the shelter or why no one adopted him - he is a big cuddler and a big lover boy. He is definitely a people's dog, but likes other dogs as well.

Adopted - August, 2006

Willie (#226) had a long life with someone who decided they didn't want him any longer...we're not sure why - could be they couldn't afford his medical care any longer. We don't know Willie's exact age, but we do know that his is a senior (12+ years old). Willie is 'legally blind' - he has very little sight due to an old eye problem that was neglected.  He has arthritis and bad teeth. Willie had 10 teeth when we got him and had 5 really bad ones pulled. It was obvious his mouth was a source of pain for this sweet boy. Due to his lack of teeth his bottom jaw has started to deteriorate. This doesn't slow him down though!

Adopted - August, 2006

Otis (#139) is an approximately 2 year old, low key little boy that is also a bundle of energy. At the end of play time, he is ready for some lap time and he is so ready that you have to be careful not to sit on him! Otis loves to listen to Classical music, especially Handel's Hallelajah Chorus!! Otis needs to be fattened up a bit. He is neutered, UTD on his shots, heartworm negative and micro chipped.

Adopted - August, 2006

Walter (#221) and Sammy (#222) are two bonded 4 year old male pugs. Sammy is a little smaller than Walter, weighing 16 pounds and Walter weighs 20 pounds. These two come to KPR after their owner became disabled and could no longer care for them. They are great with the kids, no trouble there.

Adopted - August, 2006

Kipper's Pals for Pugs

Don and Claudette Snyder

Sam (#209) is a very sweet, 7 year old, black male pug. He loves to sit on laps, sleep, and get his chest scratched. Sam came from a loving home and would do best in a home with older children. He gets along very well with his foster brothers and likes to follow them around the house and snuggle with them on the couch. Sam is housebroken. Due to a previous skin condition he needs a medicated bath twice a month (overtime this may gradually be reduced).

Adopted - August, 2006

Roscoe is a spunky little 16 lb. male and is believed to be 2 years old. He came from a shelter that was going to put him down because it was full. They fortunately contacted KPR and he was rescued. He is allergic to fleas and has some skin issues. He is very playful, active, and loves to go for walks.

Adopted - August, 2006

Roscoe (#137) is a BIG boy weighing in at 40 pounds. He is on a strict prescription diet to get some of that weight off. He is only 3 years old and was surrendered by a very loving family that just didn't have the time to devote to him that they knew he needed. Roscoe is up to date on his shots, neutered, and housebroken. He is such a good boy. He does need to be fed in his crate (which he loves) because he does have a little bit of food aggression. He gets along great with other dogs and loves children. Roscoe is not a lap dog, but he does love to sit beside you while you are watching TV.

Adopted - August, 2006

Lumpy (#230) is a super sweet gorgeous 7 year old fella who came to KPR due to a back injury that his owner could not afford to correct.  He also had an ear infection that needed treated and a breast mass that had to be removed and was benign.  He does have mild hip dysplaysia, arthritis in one hip and a luxating patella.  No surgery is necessary for those conditions at this time.  Lumpy gets along great with dogs, cats and people of all ages. You couldn't ask for a better boy with a wonderful disposition.

Adopted - August, 2006

Lexie (#138) is a 14 pound chug (chihuahua/pug mix). She was turned in to the Humane Society. Lexie is happiest when she is in your lap, especially at night. She loves to play fetch and to chew bones (Nylabones are best because she pulls pieces from other types.) Lexie is very people oriented and gets along with other dogs, as long as she is the alpha. She is a "talker" and will let you know when she wants something. Lexie is approximately 2 years old, spayed, UTD on her shots, micro chipped and heartworm negative. Lexie is ready for her forever home.

Adopted - July, 2006

Sammy was surrendered to KPR because his owners didn’t have the time to care for him. He is one very sweet 5 year old male. He loves to be close to you and will jump up on your lap wherever you are sitting. He loves to play with toys and is very active. Sammy loves to go for walks. He is crate trained and will jump up on top of the crate if he isn’t in it! He is good with kids and other dogs as well as strangers. He does little barking unless he has something to say!

Adopted - July, 2006

Rufus, or Roo, (#141) is a 3 year old male pug whose mom was a fawn pug and his dad was a black pug.  He loves kids and plays well with his foster family's children.  Rufus gives kisses, loves having his belly rubbed and likes to sit on your lap.  He does not like table scraps, only dog food.  He will bark at men when he first meets them.  Once he gets to know them, he stops.  He is a very loving pug.

Adopted - July, 2006

Elvis (formerly known as Butch) (#128) is approximately 3 years old. He was rescued from being chained in a yard in Tennessee. A nice lady bought him from his previous owners and took him home. We found during his pre-neuter check up that he had heartworm and he was treated successfully.

Adopted - July, 2006

Ariel (#106) is a very sweet pug/shihtzu mix. She is very loving.  She likes to play with her sister and her foster pug brother. She sleeps all night in her crate. She is still warming up to the cat, which insists that she get a bath.

Adopted - July, 2006

Percy (#234), a 16 month old fawn male, was rescued by a kind family. His first family did not want him anymore because of a child's health issues, so Percy was left living in the garage with little human contact. Percy is now loving getting attention and loves other dogs and especially kids.

Adopted - July, 2006

Priscilla (4 years old) and Elvis (8-10) years old are a bonded pair who were surrendered because their owner died of cancer. Priscilla is a sweetheart who loves to play and LOVES to cuddle up right next to you, she has the most beautiful coat and face!!! Elvis just loves to be petted and loved on, and is a very distinguished older gentleman! Both are always right by their foster mom's side, and love to sit with her when she is watching TV and sleep with her at night. Both are in good general health, and are housebroken. Priscilla is having surgery the first week of June to open up her nostrils and trim down her elongated palate. They are both very loving and sweet, and get along well with other dogs and children. Elvis does have some food aggression, so he probably should not be placed in a home with very young children who would not know to leave him alone while he is eating . They are wonderful sweet little dogs who will make a wonderful addition to their new home!

Adopted - July, 2006

Kirby is a laid back kind of guy and wants to be close to you at all times. He managed to take a hold of his foster mom's heart and won't let go. His fur has grown back beautifully and his previous cough is practically non-existent. Good nutrition and lots of TLC has done this boy good.  Now if he can only teach his pug brothers and sisters to speak and turn around in circles when they need to go out too!

Adopted - July, 2006

Below ~
When first brought to KPR

Herbie Scooter, the Miracle Love Pug, came to KPR from a shelter. Herbie was dumped out by someone who obviously did not realize the true treasure that they possessed. He had a bacterial skin infection, a fungal skin infection, hookworm, roundworm, and scarcoptic mange. Poor Herbie was so sick, but went to a wonderful foster home where he was nursed back to health.  Despite his challenges, Herbie's little curly tail continued to wag and he continued to give kisses. He is a true "Miracle Love Pug"....

Adopted - July, 2006

Spanky is the sweetest dog! He absolutely loves human attention. He's your typical pug couch-potato, who is most content just to rest by your side and receive lots of belly rubs. We don't know Spanky's actual age, but the vet estimates him to be about 8 years old.  He only has about eight teeth left. His  back legs are a bit weak, which the vet thinks may be a sign that he is in the very early stages of arthritis. It just means that he doesn't jump on furniture,  but he runs and plays outside just like any dog. Spanky loves going outside! He is completely housetrained.

Adopted - June, 2006

Jenny is approximately 2 1/2 years old.  She came to KPR because the Doberman she was sharing her home with did not get along with her.  She is very timid and shy around strangers and other animals and can be a bit aggressive.  This is possibly due to her previous experiences with the Doberman.

Adopted - June, 2006

Harley & Trouble's
Pals for Pugs

William & Diane Lindsey

Harley and Trouble are under 2 years old and littermate brothers. Don't let their names fool you, they are wonderful little boys! Harley and Trouble are housebroken and love to give kisses. They came to KPR as their original owner was not able to give them enough time. These boys were very much loved by their original owner and it shows. Harley seems to be the bigger brother of the two. He sits quietly by and waits for Trouble to finish eating before he digs into his. Trouble’s name definitely fits his personality but not in a bad way. He has a mischievous playful side, which is reflected, in his sneak attacks on Harley. They are very energetic and will play with each other for hours and then lay down for a nap next to one another.

Adopted - June, 2006

Henry is a fun-loving, energetic little guy that gets along well with other cats and dogs. He is approximately 4 or 5 years old and is housebroken.  Belly rubs are his favorite things.  He came to us with several skin problems which left him with very little hair and lots of itching. His skin infections are gone and his hair is coming back in (and best of all, he isn't itching anymore). Henry has an undeveloped right eye, but gets along well without it.

Adopted - June, 2006

Bo (5 years old) and LuLu (2.5 years old) are a bonded pair of pugs. Both are very loving and very spunky. LuLu is a petite little pug while Bo is a big lover boy. Both dogs are housebroken and ready to be adopted. Neither dog likes cats so we are looking to place them in a home without cats. We will also be looking to place them in a home without small children (older children are definitely ok) as they can play a bit rough at times.

Adopted - June, 2006

Buddy was surrendered by a very loving home. He weighs 22 pounds and will be 9 years old on August 30. He gets along with other dogs and children. Buddy is a pretty laid back dude. He loves to be close to you, but not all over you. He also loves his belly and chest rubs. Buddy is house trained and crate trained. In fact, he goes into his crate when it's time for him to go to bed. Buddy also seems to be a sort of watchdog. He will "woof" softly when he senses something out of place (or when he wants something--like food).

Adopted - June, 2006

Jasper is approximately 7 years old. When he came into rescue, he was underweight, terrified of men, and had a horrible cough, which was caused by heartworms. Jasper's cough went away, as did his fear of men.  He gained some weight and his heartworm treatments were successful.  Jasper gets along great with other dogs.  He loves nothing more than to sit beside you and cuddle and watch TV.

Adopted - June, 2006

This is Trevor. He's approximately 2 1/2 years old. Great natured fellow. Gets along well with other dogs and even cats. He loves attention, loves to play, and is all boy. He does have some marking issues with his previous home due to the jealousy of a child. This was a loving surrender from his previous family...they knew KPR would find the perfect home for him.

Elwood is a 1-year old Puggle. KPR got to little Elwood just in the nick of time -- he was about to go on the shelter's list to  be put down. Elwood  LOVES to jump in your lap and cuddle, and is also happy  exploring in the back yard for hours and hours. He weighs  approximately 20 pounds and has an adorable little under bite  that makes everyone smile. He gets along great with his whole  foster family, including his (canine) foster brothers and  sisters. Elwood would be happiest in a home where someone will  give him lots of attention and love like he deserves.

Adopted - May, 2006

Rocky Balboa is a 7 year old, male pug that came into the rescue as a stray.  He has a little trouble with his eye sight (the vet says it's like looking through murky glasses), but it does not keep him from doing anything other dogs can do.  He is potty trained, loves to play, enjoys children and other dogs and will even go in a kennel for a nap if the door is left open.

Adopted - May, 2006

Zeke is an 8 and 1/2 year old sweetie pie who was surrendered by his family because they no longer had the time to care for him properly. Zeke is a spry little fellow and the vet says he is much healthier than most 4 year old dogs that she sees.  He is very gentle, easy going and VERY laid back.  He loves everyone, cats, other dogs, all people. He comes when he is called (is this a pug?), walks right beside you when he is outside, and doesn't bark much.

Adopted - May, 2006

Toka came to KPR at 14 months old.  She is about as sweet as they come. She loves playing with stuffed animals, can't give enough kisses and L-O-V-E to be the center of attention.  Toka has great fun chasing her foster pug brother and sister and gets along with cats and kids.

Adopted - May, 2006

Frank (KPR ID #217) is a super pug who is approximately 1 year old! Very friendly with everyone, very happy (his tail wags his entire body), very loving. He loves to be held and cuddled, loves belly rubs, loves car rides, listens very well and doesn't wander off. He just wants to be near people. He eats well, loves treats, loves to play.  Frank came to KPR from a shelter.  He has been diagnosed with a collapsing trachea. The vet completed x-rays on Frank and indicate that his heart and lungs look fine and that he will live a  normal, happy life. Long term maintenance of tracheal collapse is centered around controlling the coughing (which can be done with vet-prescribed cough suppressants) and providing a good airway to the trachea.

Scruffy's Pals for Pugs

William & Diane Lindsey

Mr. Scruffy is a very cute and very sweet pug/terrier mix that is under a year old. He was found on New Years Eve crawling around under cars and on snow banks. The poor little guy had been out walking so much that his little paws were injured. He is very sweet, gentle and loving, absolutely ADORES children and gets along well with other dogs and cats.

Adopted - May, 2006

Zaelea  (renamed Zoey) is a very beautiful 2 year old black female. She came to KPR as she was too active for her current family and their infant. She is a very affectionate girl.

Adopted - April, 2006

Sadie is a 1 year old sweetie who was surrendered to the rescue due to a new baby in the family. She is a beautiful girl and is practically perfect in every way! She is completely up to date on all her shots, is heartworm negative, and is spayed. She is housebroken, and gets along well with kids, dogs, and cats!

Sadie was adopted by the Trevino Family of Indianapolis. She now has a pug brother named Buddha and human brother named Adrian, who is holding Sadie in the pic.

Adopted - April, 2006

Opie is a wonderful little boy and will be 3 in October. His human mom had to stop her allergy medicine due to pregnancy. She was really allergic to him. Rather than have him lonely, she decided that he should go to a new home where they could spend time with him. He is healthy, neutered, up to date on his shots, housebroken, crate trained, and does come with his own crate.

Adopted - April, 2006

Pugsley is a 10 month old male 'puggle' (pug/beagle mix). He was surrendered to KPR because his family didn't have the time for him. Pugsley, being a puppy, is active and loves everyone he meets. He gets along with kids of all ages. Sometimes he gets so excited to see people that he will jump up to greet you but at the same time he lets little little kids give him kisses on his face. He has shown no aggression at all to people (very young to adult) and other dogs and cats.

Adopted - April, 2006

Poochee (pronounced Poochay) is an 8 year old neutered male Pug/Chihuahua mix. He was dropped off at a shelter due to his mom and dad getting a divorce. They each took their “favorite” and left the other 4 behind. He is a little scared and the least bit of noise or activity makes him skittish. He loves to go for walks and to be petted. He is house broken and can be crated, but would prefer to be cuddled up with you or the other dogs.

Adopted - April, 2006

Sugar Bear's Pals for Pugs

William & Diane Lindsey

Sugar Bear is a 3 year old Puggle. He is housebroken, sweet, loving, playful, and good with other dogs. He loves kids, but he hasn't learned not to jump on them. He was turned in at a shelter in Madisonville because he was not good around chickens or cattle. He has a scar on his back, possibly from going under a fence to get to the chickens.

Adopted - April, 2006

Scotty's Pals for Pugs

William & Diane Lindsey

Scotty is a two year old pug mix.  He is a quiet, but friendly guy. He loves to be petted and made over and gets along extremely well with his foster parents' three dogs. He goes outside to use the bathroom. The lucky person/people who decide on Scotty will be truly glad they did!

Adopted - April, 2006

Bo and LuLu are a bonded pair of pugs. Bo, who weighs 16 pounds, is around 5 years old and is very spunky and loving. LuLu is a 2.5 year old very small pug girl (around 14 pounds). Both dogs came to KPR with whipworms and hookworms for which they had to receive treatment.

Adopted - April, 2006

Skeeter was picked up as a stray.  The vet estimates his age at 4-5 years old.  He weighed just 13 pounds when he was found, but since being in his foster home, he has begun to put on some needed weight.   He has no behavior problems or health problems that I can see. He plays well and would make anyone a really sweet, laid back little puggie.

Adopted - April, 2006

Spike is a exuberant one year old male. He is a great little guy who loves to cuddle up next to you on the couch. He also loves to run around in the yard and play, play play!!!! He gets along well with his foster pug sister and brothers and also with the cats in his foster home. He loves children too, although he is probably too much puppy for anyone with small children (under two). He will do fine in just about any home - he just loves everybody! He is mostly housebroken, but will try to mark occasionally so his new home will need to work with him on this!

Adopted - April, 2006

Tiny Tim (so named because he is tiny) came to us as a rescue from a breeder. Tiny Tim is high strung, but will sit in your lap and let you give him all the “lovin” you can!  He is missing his left eye and is mostly blind in his right eye, but he is highly adept at using what little vision he does have to get around. Stairs are tricky for him, but once he learns the ropes, he navigates them fine. Due to his eye conditions, he will need medication once a day on his eye for the rest of his life – otherwise he has a clean bill of health.

Adopted - March, 2006

Bruno is aproximately 4-5 years old and was surrendered by a breeder in Western Ky. because he was a "non-preformer". Bruno is a very short boy and is horribly overweight. He weighs 27.7 pounds. He is on a strict  R/D diet now. His thyroid is also very low and he is starting his thyroid medicine. Right now he also has a UTI.  Bruno is such a loving little boy. He is totally gorgeous and only wants to please you.

Adopted - March, 2006

Gabby is 2 years old, is housebroken and gets along with other dogs. She doesn't like cats. She is sweet and loving. She adapts to "house rules" quickly. Gabby was reluctant to get on foster mom's bed until she learned from the other dogs that it was ok. She rides well in the car. She is a big girl at 24.7 pounds. She is always either panting or snoring. Yes, Gabby snores even when she is awake. She is very polite and loves to just lay at your feet.

Adopted - March, 2006

Indiana Jones (5 years old) came to KPR after his owner was placed in a nursing home. This handsome and adventurous fella is ready to settle into his forever home. Indy gets along good with other pets and loves kids. He would make a great addition to any home.

Adopted - February, 2006

Bugsy Malone is a 1-2 yr. old, male puggle. Poor Bugsy showed up at a shelter in Indiana as his previous owners didn't want him anymore.  When we got him, he was extremely underweight. Thanks to the kind people at the shelter, Bugsy will have a happy ending.  His foster family reports that Bugsy has lots of energy and loves to play. Bugsy is housebroken and lets you know when he has to go outside.

Adopted - February, 2006

Buckeye is a 5 year old male pug who was dropped off at a dog lover's home.  He was originally a backyard breeder dog, where he was kept in a cage until he was 4 years old. He has some food allergies, but other than that he is a healthy little boy. This little guy has been shuffled around so much in the last 30 days that once he  has some stability in his life he will continue to flourish and feel more confident.

Adopted - February, 2006

Clyde (originally known as Kirby) is a 12-18 month old fawn male that was found wandering the streets. A pug lover caught him and took him in. She tried to find his family, but did not have any success. He had hookworm and a parasite, coccidia, which he was treated for. He also had a BB lodged in his hind leg that needed to be removed.  Kirby is a VERY laid back little guy who loves to lay by your feet and adores cuddling up next to you in bed. He also likes to play and spends hours tussling with his foster sister. He loves other dogs and children.

Meet Princess (5 years old - wearing bandana in photos) and Pugsley (7 years old), a very sweet bonded pair of pugs. Adopted - February, 2006

Pig is a 6 year old fawn male. His name says it all! He is 25.5 lbs., but should be about 18 lbs. so he is a big boy that is working on his diet and cardio!  He is very sweet and loving. He likes to cuddle or just lay around the house or even put himself in his crate to nap. He gets along great with other dogs but can be a bit food aggressive. Pig would be wonderful for someone who just needs a buddy to sit on the couch with. He would be ok with kids or other dogs, but doesn't really have much interest in playing.

Adopted - January, 2006

Maxine & Sam are a bonded pair (Mother and Son) and are just 2 sweet, good pugs that get along with other dogs & do not bother cats. Sam (black), approx. 4 or 5 years old,  just really likes to be loved on & be with us.  Maxine (fawn), approx. 12 or 13 years old, wants to be with someone all the time and wants to be petted most of the time.
