Deacon, who is approximately 5-6 years old, was dropped off at his local vet's office because his owners didn't want him anymore. This 'big' boy is very loving and just wants the attention he's been deprived of for so long. When we got Deacon, he was full of fleas and covered with dirt because he spent his days outside. His teeth were really bad and he had a gum infection.  He also was Heartworm positive, which required treatment.  He gets along with children and is housebroken.  He does not like car rides.

Adopted - December, 2005

Roscoe - We think this fellow is a beagle/pug mix, but we are not positive. He is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Roscoe (otherwise known as Roscoe P. Coltrane) has fully recovered from his case of mange and has been neutered. He’s had several baths and looks like a show dog now! Roscoe is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known - he is a true couch potato (although he loves to run and play in the yard too). Roscoe likes to curl up on the couch next to you and let you rub his belly - he gets along great with other dogs, and doesn't even seem to notice the cats. Roscoe gives a whole new meaning to gentle - he wouldn't hurt a flea.

Adopted - December, 2005

Olivia "Livi" is a 1 year old puggle. The best way to describe Livi is FUN! She is a fun loving, happy little dog. She likes people and other dogs too, although she forgets who's boss sometimes. She loves to cuddle with you and is working on her manners (like not jumping into your lap suddenly). The Vet declared her healthy, she is current with her shots and will be spayed shortly. She's a little over enthusiastic about her leash and walking on it, so obedience school might be a help to her! She's a winner, everyone who came to our house for the Holidays, wishes they could take her home!

Adopted - December, 2005

Buster is an 18 month old male pug. He was purchased from a pet store and has had problems with kidney stones in the past. Recently he had 30 kidney stones removed. His new owners will need to keep him on a specialized diet and he may need to take medicine for the rest of his life to keep the stones from recurring. Buster does come from a loving home. He comes to KPR as a result of a divorce.

Adopted - December, 2005

Frank is still quite the puppy.  He's full of energy and loves to play.  He loves to have every minute of your attention.  Frank was originally adopted in August, but that home didn't work out.

Adopted - December, 2005

When BoBo first came to KPR, he had a terrible bladder infection that revealed several kinds of crystals present in his system. This was partially due to being fed very cheap food. He will have to be on a strict diet the rest of his life. He was also scared and unsure about humane contact. He soon learn to trust and shares his days with two pug sisters and four pug brothers. He has a bounce in his step again and a curl in his tail

Adopted - December, 2005

Gracie was born 4/11/05. She was surrendered due to having a condition called Demodex. She had to undergo special dips for several months.  Her eye was also scratched and needed treatment so that she wouldn't lose her sight.  Gracie had some bad reactions to the dips, but she's a tough little girl and made it through.

Adopted - December, 2005

Ivy is a 6 1/2 year old black female. She is very vocal and will demand your attention by barking and howling if she thinks you are ignoring her. She is a smaller little gal, around 17 pounds. She is an alpha (although her and her foster sister, who is also an alpha, co exist very peacefully) and loves to sleep in the bed with you. She is totally house broken.  Ivy is a "dream dog" in that her age, health and beauty are not always the norm in a rescued pug. Her favorite place, besides a lap, is the back of the couch, where she will nap and observe what all is going on in her "world".

Adopted - December, 2005

Beau is a very handsome puppy, born 5/23/05.  He is a pug mix (dad was a pug and mom was a puggle). He comes to KPR as his health needs were too expensive for his owner's budget. Beau has had two corneal graft surgeries in his short life and will need eye drops for the rest of his life.

Adopted - December, 2005

Skittles came to KPR with a somewhat of a mysterious past. We believe this little girl is around 5 years old and that she was maybe not treated the best by the man of the household (she was initially a little shy around men). The foster home has made great strides in getting her to trust men and they report that she is a very sweet and active little girl. Skittles gets along great with other dogs and kids and continues to work on housebreaking.

Adopted - December, 2005

Bruce will be 3 years old on 1/7/2006 and he was surrendered by a loving home. The parents felt that he was not getting the time and attention that he deserves and want him to go to another loving family who has time to spend with him. Bruce is already neutered and up to date on his shots. He has no known aggressions or health concerns.

Adopted - November, 2005

Elvis is a 7 year old black male pug who weighs 20 pounds. He is very laid back pug and loves to cuddle. Elvis is very passive and gets along very well with both his foster pug brothers and his human foster sister. He is blind in one eye, which doesn't slow him down at all.

Adopted - November, 2005

Harley is a pug/beagle mix that is estimated to be somewhere between 1 and 3 years old.  Harley is a gentle (yet playful) bundle of love. He loves to be close to people - especially if it involves getting his belly rubbed! He gets along great with other Pugs and doesn't even seem to notice the cats. Harley is very smart and is just waiting for the right person to adopt him and provide him with the love he deserves.

Adopted - October, 2005

Blackie and Missy  ~ This bonded pair of  pug/peke mixes were rescued from a shelter. Since we come from a shelter little is known about their background. Missy's age has been approximated at 8 years and Blackie is between 3-5 years old.  We think Blackie may be Missy's son, but we're not for certain.  We have beautiful black coats and since we are a pug/peke mix, shedding will be minimal.  These two are good dogs, very sweet and loving. They get along with other dogs and don't bother cats. Blackie loves to play. Both just want to be near people and get loved on.

Adopted - October, 2005

Sadie is a one year old pug/beagle mix.  She weighs 19.8 lbs. She comes from a military family who surrendered her to an animal shelter because she was always running away and they did not have a fenced in yard. She is a joy and a love.  She loves children, ignores the cats and wants to play with the cocker spaniel, Sophie (however Sophie, who is 8, has no interest in Sadie).  Sadie has a soft, beautiful puggie face (although she is part beagle) and has the whitest teeth.  She is housebroken, loves going for walks, loves to kiss and snuggle.

Adopted - October, 2005

Chuckie is a 5-6 year-old fawn pug with lots of black markings.  He was dumped a a kennel.  We believe he was kept in a cage most of his life and perhaps used for breeding.  He gets along well with his foster pug brothers, as well as his human foster brother.  Chuckie is a very happy boy.

Adopted - October, 2005

Tucker had a rough start to life, but you would never know by meeting this quiet young man! He is a tiny little guy, weighing only 15 pounds. The vet feels he is between 1-2 years old. We are not sure what he is mixed with, but he has the pug personality and curled tail. His longer hair sheds very little.

Adopted - October, 2005

Willie is a playful 2 year old male pug has been in two homes in his short life and is looking for some stability. Willie is your typical happy, playful and energetic 2 year old. He is housebroken, crate trained and knows some tricks.

Adopted - October, 2005

Alfie is a 5-7 year old male picked up as a stray. He is a small little fellow (14 pounds) with a great big heart. He loves everyone, kids and cats included. He loves to snuggle and give kisses!!!

Adopted - October, 2005

Maverick's Pals for Pugs

Laurell K. Hamilton

Maverick is a young pug mix that we were able to get from a shelter in Crawfordsville, IN. Since 'Mavvy' was a stray we don't know much about him. The vet estimates him to be about one year old and says he is probably more shepherd than pug.

Adopted - October, 2005

Bobo is a bit of a mystery man. He was found by a kind stranger, wandering the streets. He is a pug, and probably Boston Terrier mix, and looks very much like a pug. He is just a beautiful boy. He is blind in one eye, but seems to see perfectly with the other. He is very affectionate and loving.

Adopted - October, 2005

Bandit is about 7 months old.  He loves cats, dogs, and children.  Sometimes, being the puppy he is, he will aggravate the older, slower dogs, but gets along very well with the younger ones.  He does try to be a tad dominant and nips when he is too excited.  He does have some issues to consider, but he is a very sweet snuggle-bunny. Always wants to be right there with you, preferably sitting in your lap.

Adopted - October, 2005

Mickey is the cutest little pug mix. A KPR volunteer saw him advertised for free in a newspaper ad and scooped him up. He is around 5 months old and we were told he is a pug/terrier mix. He is all black and has the best  disposition. Mickey gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats and LOVES kids. He is a very playful and gentle little boy that has a very unusual bark. Mickey is as tall as a full grown pug, but is more slender and he has a longer, curly tail.

Adopted - October, 2005

Rosie is a fawn female around 5 or 6 years old. She was a breeder dog and her last litter had to be delivered by caesarean section. She is housebroken, wonderful with kids and other dogs. She is not aggressive in the least. Very sweet and loving.

Adopted - October, 2005

Beulah is a 5+ year old puggie rescued from a breeder.  She is a tiny little pug that weighs just under 15 pounds and has a beautiful, nearly white coat.  She is more than likely blind in her left eye.  Beulah has been enjoying being a 'pug of leisure', soaking up lots of love from her foster papa and following her foster mama whenever she moves. She is a loving little girl that would love to spend her day sitting in your lap.

Adopted - September, 2005

Rusty's Pals for Pugs

Linda Johnson

Rusty was picked up as a stray in Western KY.  KPR got him from Ohio County Humane Society. He had a collar on that had nearly grown into his neck and fly bites on his little ears. He was apparently chained up some place and the best thing he did was escape from where ever it was. He had heartworms, was treated and is now negative.

Adopted - September, 2005

Yoda (formerly known as Mojo) is a four month old Pug/Chihuahua mix, and he certainly has the energy to prove it. Mojo's day is spent playing with toys and my other Pug.  He loves to go for walks and run around outside chasing bugs. Mojo has melted the hearts of those he has met and would be a great pet for somebody with another hi-energy dog or no pets at all. Because he likes to nibble and jump on people/things, he may not be well suited for a household with small children.

Adopted - September, 2005

Dozer is a 2 year old male pug.  He is a very laid back little guy and is absolutely adorable.  He loves his human foster sisters and brother and gets along great with his foster canine pals. This little guy will make a great addition to any home.

Adopted - September, 2005

Fei is a about 9 years old, she was picked up as a stray. KPR got her from an Animal Shelter. The volunteer who picked her up named her Fei Wu.  Fei meaning luxuriant and Wu meaning charming, enchanting.  She appears to be completely blind, and mostly deaf. However, she manages remarkably well. She is remarkably trusting and doesn't seem to mind the other two dogs. She has a gorgeous soft coat.

Adopted - September, 2005

Tazz is so sweet, he just melts your heart. He will be 5 years old on November 1st and weighs about 15 pounds. He comes to KPR because his owner could no longer afford his care. Tazz comes from a very loving environment and has the energy of a puppy.  He is really playful and will butt right up next to you and want you to scratch his ears. Tazz is very good with kids of all ages. He likes to be around people and his favorite spot is in your lap.

Adopted - September, 2005

Buster (Biddy) is a handsome pug-mix with a charming underbite that is just as sweet & good as they come. He is surprisingly gentle and very loving and affectionate. It is all too easy to become very attached to him!  Biddy is housebroken and has a clean bill of health! He is leash trained and understands some basic commands (ie. sit, come, down, up). His beautiful creamy caramel coat is soft and warm to the touch. Since he is a short hair, it is much easier to maintain his appearance without the chores that come with excessive shedding.

Adopted - August, 2005

Suzy is as cute as they come! She is estimated to be about a year old, but still has most of her puppy energy. She is mostly housetrained, and just needs a regular schedule to stay on top of it.  Suzy seems to be very bright, and shows signs of being easy to train.  She loves to play with other dogs and people. She would probably do well with a family who does not have any cats, as her energetic nature is a bit too much for cats to tolerate.

Adopted - August, 2005

Kitty is one of three pug girls we were able to rescue from a breeder in Indiana. She is around 4.5 years old and weighs 20 pounds. She had suffered from a previous injury to her left eye, which needed to be removed.  She is shy and a very gentle girl.  This girl will take some work to get her to trust humans, but we are hopeful that she will come around. You can tell that she wants to be around people, she's just unsure.

Adopted - August, 2005

Annabelle (formerly Stormy) is a beautiful 1.5 year old 16 pound girl that is guaranteed to melt your heart within minutes. KPR was able to get her from a breeder near Terre Haute where she was of no use to them (they couldn't breed her). We are so lucky to have this sweet, happy girl because she was in serious need of vet attention. She came to us with both whip and hook worms and an ear infection.

Adopted - August, 2005

Buster is a sweet, gentle, 10 year old pug. He was at a shelter as a result of his owners being evicted. He gets along great with other Pugs. He is housebroken and crate trained, though he prefers to be out of the crate and just hang out with you. He likes to go for walks. He doesn't pay attention to the cats at his foster mommy's. The vet said his "ticker" is strong.

Adopted - August, 2005

At a year old, Frank is still quite the puppy. He's full of energy and loves to play with kids and other dogs. In his previous home he was jealous of a new baby in the house and started marking, so older kids would probably be the best.  He loves to have every minute of your attention.

Adopted - August, 2005

Cheyenne and Pugsley are a bonded pair (litter mates) that will be 4 years old in November. They came to KPR because their family is moving to Colorado and they have twins on the way. These two came from a loving environment and get along great with kids of all sizes and other dogs. They are housebroken, crate-trained, healthy and all-around great dogs.
Cheyenne and Pugsley join their new pug brother, Popeye, and 12 year old Golden Retriever sister, Sam, in their forever home. Pugsley and Cheyenne are sitting with their Dad in the photo.

Adopted - July, 2005

Osie is a pug - peke mix.  She has a slightly longer nose, long body and an uncurled tail.  With the peke in her, she has a fluffier coat that does not shed.  She is a sweet, petite, young lady with a delightfully impish personality.  She does fine with other dogs and children.  She likes to cuddle up with you in bed, but is just as happy to amuse herself with her toys.

Adopted - July, 2005

Molly is around 4.5 years old and weighs 16 pounds.  She came from a breeder in Indiana, where she was heavily bred.  Molly came to us with a hernia that had to be repaired and she had an ear infection.  She has the cutest little face and a tail (which doesn't totally curl) that doesn't stop.

Adopted - July, 2005

Lena is a sweet, wonderful little 12 pound girl that we got from the Rescue Farm in Ellettsville, IN.  She was relinquished after being owned by the same people for 12 years.  Lena came to us with a terrible mouth infection.  Poor Lena only has one tooth left, which will be removed ASAP.  The infection in her mouth, which has been brewing for some time, has completely eaten away her jawbone and has also resulted in an ear infection.  Lena also has an ulcer on her left eye, has a cataract  beginning on her right eye and is completely deaf.  This sweet girl is very laid back and has lots of love to give.

Adopted - July, 2005
